Kevin played Slayer beat easily and has no challenge for him,this guy played with Dying Fetus,Suffocation,Chimaira,Six feet under and many more and very talented guy on the planet earth
I think I remember reading at the time that Slayer was really impressed with his playing, but they just thought Kevin was a little young and inexperienced for the big stage. Make sense since he was roughly 15 years younger than Kerry and Jeff and 18 years younger than Tom. It'd probably be different if they were auditioning the Kevin Talley of today.
According to some (reliable, as far as i am concerned) sources it was down to Kevin and Russ/Proscriptor from Absu. Apparently Proscriptor was a bit too much into magickal and occult practices and that doesn't sat very well with Araya most probably. So Talley was going to get the job, but Lombardo returned...and the rest is history. I'd like to have seen where would the band go with one of these two drummers.
I could sit and watch Slayer band practices forever. So cool. Miss them guys. and this is awesome! Kevin is a talent. Maybe we could convince them to do a pay per view or stream or something...............
@@MrStrongbox Many famous players tend to forget or change original parts, but I appreciate guys like King, Skolnick and Dimebag cause respect the studio work and they reproduce it live the way it is
If you listen to Jeff's solo in Seasons, he mails in the finger tapping and just whammies it... I remember seeing Slayer on the Clash of the Titans tour and waiting for Jeff to do that exact solo and he whammy dive bombed the shit out of it then too!!!! 🤘 RIP Brother JH🤘
I think I prefer Dave better, I think he just gels with the others better, that being said I love this guys energy, something about his playing is still really awesome to watch.

Araya is Chilean, Lombardo is cuban. Jeff collected nazi memorabilia (his dad was a veteran who collected medals off dead nazis in ww2). He was NOT a racist but liked their symbolism because it was evil. Controversial yes.. but if you were a fan youd know this years ago.
Good drumming is not all about how fast of your pedal or how hard your hitting on the snare..he is good drummer but his style suit best with only certain type of metal genres...not slayer

I like Kev better than Paul which I think is the worst Slayer drummer of all time. Kev was good but it seemed like Slayer was about 10% over his playing abilities at the time.
