There isn’t much worse than “well-meaning” suggestions from people when you are dealing with acne 🤦♀️ I am 41 now and had the worst acne of my life when I was about 35. Like so bad I could barely leave the house. And it made my blood boil when people gave their unsolicited advice. I wanted to be like,, “yep I thought of that and tried that like a million other things because I live with this everyday!” For what it’s worth, I think your skin looks BEAUTIFUL.
Definitely. And same with my chronic illness when people ask I’ve of tried yoga 🙄 and thank you! I’m totally fine with it, this breakout isn’t nearly as bad as it gets.
As a fellow adult acne babe, these tips are so true and so good! Thanks for sharing. And I also agree 100% that focusing on letting the skin shine and learning how to spot conceal was a game changer for my makeup routine. When I was a makeup artist, this always blew the minds of the clients I worked with who had acne, and it changed their minds about how they did their makeup!
I have blemishes on my neck and chest too, like ones that have been there so long and I don't think ever go away no matter what I do. It just feels so relatable to know other people deal with this type of thing too, and we can have a natural makeup look to feel confident :) thank you!
You reminded me of how great the Makeup Forever concealer is. I’ve been using the Laura Mercier secret concealer recently but sometimes I don’t want to mix two colors to match my face. Excited to try the Colourpop!
All good advice. I bought the Colourpop concealer and foundation brush per your recco, and they’ve been going great. I need to get myself a grippy primer. I’ve been following the Colourpop with Salt New York Skin Tint, and I loveeeee it for covering ache. Looks so natural. Thank you for posting this! It’s my birthday today and this makes me feel more confident about doing my make-up today.
Those EDS digestive issues. Yup. Currently I basically can't eat after 7 pm, avoid fodmap, high fermentation potential, and acidic foods and drinks, and drink only alkaline water in the evening. What made the most difference to my skin though was discovering I was in early perimenopause and going on the combined HRT pill. I recently switched to the patch and my skin went bananas again, nooo. I really appreciate your advice for a more natural-looking approach to doing makeup on skin that's breaking out, thank you :)
@@StateofKait it's such a journey and unfortunately sometimes it's as much about not making things worse as it is about finding actual improvement. The condition is so incredibly individual; it affects me and my two kids in quite nuanced and unique ways. I hope you find the right variables to play with and feel much, much better
Great video Kait! I’m having a bit of a resurgence of adult acne myself, so frustrating. Hope you are able to get your test done and find some more answers soon! Thanks for sharing with us ❤
You look fabulous without makeup. ❤ I know that we see our face wayyyyyy worst that other people do. And yes you do have really beautiful skin! Definitely stick to that 😊
I’ve found I really love the FitGlow concealer because I live in Florida and it’s humid and lots of products can just slide off me, even though I don’t have oily skin. Just an idea for people who need some staying power ideas.
I started taking biotin and it gave me terrrrible cystic acne around my chin, and then I broke out from eating bad during a recent vacation. So I am totally needing these tips rn.
Great tutorial! My holy grail is the bareminerals powder concealer. It's amazing at spot concealing because it stays place and doesn't move around . I'm intrigued by the makeup forever concealer though.
The first and really only thing I see when I look at your face is your absolutely gorgeous ocean blue eyes. Ive had acne pretty much my whole life but now being 50, its actually pretty good. Now just crows feet and dry skin lolololololol
I had SIBO several years ago and have to deal with it coming back a few times. I found the lowfodmap diet and the xifaxan really helped. The diet is tough to get thru since it is so restrictive but luckily there are so many more dairy free and gluten free stuff now then there was 8 years ago. When I was first diagnosed my nutritionist had studied with a nutritionist/dietitian Kate Scarlata who has tons of recipes on her blog and a few cookbooks. Hope you feel better soon!!!
I’m frustrated because I’ve unintentionally been on the low Fodmap diet for a long time - no gluten or dairy really for ages. I’ve only had to cut out garlic, apples, and other ingredients I never would’ve suspected would trigger anything. Really I just need to do the test so they can put me on the antibiotics to go along with being low Fodmap
Such an informational video! I recommend watching the makeup artist Hindash, his work on complexions is GORGEOUS, I feel like I could watch one of his videos 5x in a row and learn something new every time lol
I had to go to a large university hospital to get tested for SIBO. The test was not invasive or complicated. I wonder why it’s difficult to find a doctor that does the test. Your makeup looks good as usual! It’s hard to cover up cystic acne. I can’t cover up those annoying bumps with concealer.
Because I live in the middle of the woods in a remote part of Northern California. We don’t even have a target, there’s one bar in town, etc. Finding good medical care is extremely difficult, especially specialized care And thank you!
I understand. Local doctors didn’t offer the test in my area, and it was annoying having to travel to a large hospital just for the test. SIBO seems to be pretty common, so I just don’t understand why “smaller” primary care doctors and GI doctors don’t offer the test. I hope you find some relief.
@@MrMayuBB There are less doctors in practice now than ever after having to dealing with humans and deniers during the height of the pandemic since many of them quit the profession. The health care workers that are left are extremely over-worked with limited resources and a higher population than ever.
First of all you are beautiful and this technique is flawless. Most not all… most acne is hormonal. Can’t control the hormones all the time. Listen to you doctors. the other acne culprits are in the intestines. Because of your location of your acne I think your docs are spot on. Hormonal acne is mostly chin and cheeks. This is mostly for your viewers. Facts : food does not cause acne, drinking more water will not help. Dirty brushes and sponges will aggravate acne by introducing more bacteria to skin that already has a overproduction of bacteria. Sponges are the worst. Wash brushes every week with liquid antibacterial soap. Vaseline does not cause acne and is not the enemy. All skin needs moisturizers. Sunscreen is a must everyday to prevent post inflammatory pigmentation. Adapalene is now over the counter. If it doesn’t work it is time to see a dermatologist.
Thank you! I agree with all of that except the food part. I get pretty bad acne flare-ups if I consume a lot of gluten, dairy, and alcohol because they flare my sibo! Everyone's different :)

OOOOH MY GOSH I just found your DOPPELGANGER.....your sister from another mother LOL hahaha...no I mean seriously I went to my UA-cam daily suggestion feed vids and some girl caught my eye, thinking it was you that uploaded a new one and NOOO it´s a completely different girl that looks very much alike, check her out Nykolla Vargova....I mean it´s for shits & giggles anyway but she looks so much you, it´s a new youtuber anyway!
Oh my gosh my GI diagnosed my SIBO April last year! It's so complicated. I would've liked to take rifaximin but it was too expensive so I ended up taking the metagenics brand antibiotics + simultaneously probiotics (included s. Boulardii and l. rhamnosus HN001). I did low fodmap only while I was on antibiotics and introduced small amounts of well-soaked beans, cruciferous veg, etc. slowly. I've heard some professionals say that low fodmap should only be temporary as it makes the microbiome more limited and intolerant long term. So far there isn't much research on the condition. Took a couple years to be taken seriously, trying diets that didn't work, and it was emotionally draining to eventually figure everything out (plus I found I had the start of ulcers and am very lactose intolerant). A much longer story than that, but in short, I hope you'll find what you need
@@StateofKait I would say maybe 90% of my symptoms went away after treatment but many people have relapses and take antibiotics again. It seemed to help that I incorporated some probiotic foods occasionally (DF soy yogurt, sauerkraut, kimchi) and magnesium supplements for my mental health, and started doing that afterward. Certain strains of probiotics are supposed to make things worse so I don't take those supplements. There's just too many factors involved for me to know exactly what worked for/against me. Though I saw a random channel a while back -- Abbey Sharp I think? A dietician UA-camr -- who talked about her SIBO experience in a series of videos. She's not my cup of tea but I found the videos relatable. I also saw a book called SIBO Made Simple on Amazon and that person's website - only read the preview - but it seemed it would be quite helpful. It's been a while so I don't remember exactly.
@@StateofKait as I was working I remembered something. I learned how the GI tract can't clear all the food and debris particles unless you've taken a break from eating anything for a few hours (a digestive process called the migrating motor complex). I would compare it to my dishwasher's program -- if you open the dishwasher, the program will stop, and it might start all over again when you close it. Apparently, the digestive system can't finish if it's interrupted, and waiting for it to do its thing can keep the bacteria from sitting there too much. I used to snack all the time but now I usually wait 4 hours between meals at least once a day. To keep myself from overthinking it I don't worry if I didn't do it between lunch/dinner if I already waited between breakfast/lunch, etc.
