OMG, they make a non-Newtonian fluid. They grind up the center of this ubiquitous tree, carry it in another part of the tree, engineer a massive, complex filtration device built entirely out of other parts of the same tree, built on specs that they had committed to memory some centuries ago, that converts the tree pulp into a non-Newtonian fluid, which they then eat.
Why are you saying this?
that was amazing how that guy made the basket.
just wow at how these people live its amazing
Great indigenous technology for processing the starch in the middle of the forest
some says durian smells stink but for me it smells like a milk with lots of sugar and its delicious.
durian is one of my favorite fruits.
Lol Ray Mears likes Durian. Add him to the short list of Ang Mo that enjoy that fruit. :)
that fruits is Durian...in the philippines so many like that in the south area....
LOL "It looks like all peasant paste and it probably tastes like it"
just go to an asian store. They sell it in the frozen section. Just ask for them. Its the whole fruit frozen. You can also buy them in asian boba shop too. They make durian smoothie.
Actually Sago, like rice, doesn't have much flavour. It's not that bad to eat. As for the fruit, it's called Durian in Indonesia. We pronounce it like this: doe-rehn. To me, it tastes like soap. But it's also very refreshing when the weather is hot.
I bet it makes a good wallpaper glue. But I'd eat it, I still think the guy who 1st came up with this was a genius......a starving genius.
These dudes are just build different
Dude, I live in Mexico where some grubs are a delicacy. I go to restaurants and order them roughly once every two months and every time I do, I wonder why I don't eat them more often. So believe me, I WOULD rather eat grubs.
its actually beeswax and honey-all of which you can eat. its actually really good. imagine soft honey flavored taffy.
that carrying pot they made looks hella cool
In tropical countries such as that one, centipedes are one of the most dangerous insects.
2:46 is completely smart .
its amazing to see these traditional food and life styles
u can buy those sago substance here in the us or maybe anywhere...just go to an Asian food market
The durian fruit stinks from a distance, but when you get your nose right up close to it, the smell is actually wonderful.
Do you know what episode this is?, it doesn't say in the description.
You can eat it, use it for rashes, and hair styling.
I read somewhere that all parts of the sago palm are toxic??? Maybe they meant the plant itself? and exclude the fruit? This came about when I inquired about eating palm stalks.
ya that looks realy good
@Masoukishin He's not talking about the durian, he's talking about sago.
Cool kid at the end :D

I wonder if you can make that using starch from other kinds of trees and extracting it with the same process.

@markitymark90
Oh. For some reason I heard that it comes from Sago, which confused me.

@Guitar4God1 yep that's right! But it's sometimes bad for those who got a sensitive tongue. (like me) lol~
The sago paste looked like snot.
Durian fruit comes from sago palms?
This is interesting... I love that basket... I wish I could make those...
@Slic3R1 i feel the same i would love to go and stay with them for a while..

In fact, sago can actually be a very delicious desert... google some recipe, you'll see

@lucvaudar I was actually talking about the invading europeans who tried to westernize these people
i love these people (the tribesmen) and their way of life, they are geniuses when it comes to survival constantly coming up with brilliant new ideas on how to effectively use the resources of the jungle and would gladly leave my city life and come live with them and not stay here with all these stuck up idiots
and why did you call me "naturally stupid" because i never called you any names
durian!!!!! omg i love it
I've tried durian and sago before, durian is like banana (sort of) and sago has no flavour at all.

Yes it is our tree of life in that sense! We still respect the tree in our songs and in our sageru (drink)
I hate the smell of jackfruits. One time when I went to Jamaica, My family opened a bag of them and it game me a headache.
that should be like the world most best vegetarian soup but hey thats just me
He said "Wall-Paper Paste", not 'All-Peasant' paste... sigh.
So his ancestors were trees ???
BroDudeYo-
Wallpaper Paste, not peasant paste you toolbox.
~Frosty.
@NosferatuD The way he said it, "does not have to eat it", just pisses me off cause these ppl dont have much and its very rude to refuse food given to you in other cultures
unfortunately i came from a sago tree ....WTH and then the child goes mmmm sago
@itsallgood21211
Well, starving to death just doesn't sound good to them either.
From the level of energy and health they possess, they must consume a lot of protein...
Man, i would not survive there for sure...
That didn't look like a Sago Palm
I though they would of added some kind of spice or flavoring? How bland and dull would it be to eat that.
It is the Sago Tree..
I`m from Maluku.. I would know..
they are just genius!!! no idea why europeans invaded and tried to westernise them??
