Over many years I have found this an excellent time of year to transplant under cover, for winter leaf harvests.
Four days ago this was tomato plants, aubergines and more. We clear them by cutting stems at or just below soil level, leaving most roots in the soil to decompose and provide food for microbes.
Now we just finished transplanting 3 to 4 week old Grenoble Red lettuce, endive frizzy and scarole, mustards of four types, salad rocket, Claytonia, land cress and a little coriander.
Thanks to no dig, bed prep is rapid. Just tread level and water.

Then Adam Wood popped plants in, then watered. Trays are my CD60 as in this video • My new 60 cell and lon...

I’m impressed at how you walked backwards through the tunnel and staying soo close to those greens and not stepping on them

You've inspired me to try for salad greens in my mini greenhouse this year. I hope it's not too late to sow them here. It's worth a shot! Great video, as always 😃

Hey Charles! You certainly do have a talent for walking backwards without falling base over apex or does your son keep all that footage for a Christmas Special. You certainly are a man of flowers and I am envious. Take care my learned friend! Cheers!

That's what I like about Marigolds. Have had Marigolds without damage up until December. One day I'll get to the overwintering stage with the Salads. Maybe next year.
