Pops here. I really liked it when you went to the mason trowel, instead of the stick.
Pops here. I can't wait to see complete videos of your cleaned up.finds. I'm confident it will be successful and a money maker from a viewing stand.
Great finds. Love the history you provide with each bottle that you can. Thanks
thank you!
Great age!!! Great finds!!!
That was a great pit! Lots of great stuff. Was cool to see that H.T. Helmbold's Genuine Fluid Extracts come out. I dug my one and only one ever from my first privy. Thanks for sharing.
You either tired or hung over brother!! LOL GREAT finds!!
Wow! What a dig! Awesome bitters bottles!
Choteau Creek. From the Chouteau family of fur traders out from New Orleans whose name was mangled in spelling and pronunciation in many parts of the former Louisiana Territory. At Fort Pierre Chouteau there is a sign that has the name spelled differently and incorrectly on both sides. I've seen it as Choteau, Chateau, Coteau,.... :) Fort Pierre and Pierre, SD are named for it, both said as peer. I've run also across the name in Missouri, Nebraska, and Montana, and the family helped found St. Louis and Kansas City. Major players in the fur trade, they pop up all over as you follow their northwestern progress.
nice idea with the stick👍 not going to scratch anyting with that, find lots of the Davis bottles here in Canada, very popular lol, enjoyed watching, lots of nice stuff🙂
thanks!
That English ale bottle looked like it has a design on it. Wow great finds
Wow what a productive hole. Congrats on all the great bottles
haha yeah that was a really good one.. thanks for watching
Some lovely finds enjoyed the video
Wow what age👏🏻Addiction rate had to been up there ie: Davis's pain killer ingredients powerful cocktail bought off the shelf! Love the history and photos, awesome finds. Thanx Tom for researching, much appreciated👐🏻
Wild West Stage Coach Station wow amazing, unimaginable what it was like to be there at that time. Thank you.
Not unimaginable if you give up the idea that the past was a gentler, simpler, more innocent time and see it as it really was. :) Would make a good movie.
Awesome! I love this! Why doesn't this video have 1 million views!?
lol thanks.. maybe one day

Thanks 👍
Absolutely Brilliant!
haha thank you, thats really nice
Really like the videos. Interesting finds and the added history is awesome too. Your channel name really caught my eye. Most channels that I've seen are back East. To see one from the Great plains is awesome. I'm in Kansas. Thanks for all the hard work you put in. Looking forward to more.
thanks.. yeah i guess we cornered the market on youtube channels about digging in the midwest.. and we barely decided to call the channel that. we were gonna call it "a sign of the times:" but there was a new top 40 song that just came out called that, so we didnt want our channel to be impossible to find when people use the search bar
Well I'm glad that happened. Haha. That might not have caught my attention as much. Even though that might just be the case in my citation. Again thank you for sharing and please keep the videos coming. I know others have said it but even the not so amazing finds are still interesting and captivating. Also showing the other aspects and research that goes into digs would definitely be appreciated if you shared some info. Thank you.
What an amazing dig! You can definitely tell it was an earlier pit. Your Bitters bottles are splendid and so crudely made. Even the slicks are gorgeous. I love the food bottle with the lip that kind of looks like a screw top. How long ago did you dig this up? Do you find Indian artifacts? Take care and stay safe.✌
Hi Debra I noticed you on the comment section on a lot of bottle digger channel's. I used to dig priveys, but not so much anymore. My knees went bad on me and have a hard time.
uhh we dug the station in june of 2021.. or at least around then. we actually dont find many native american artifacts, but one time we thought we had found a privy pit, so we began to dig it up, and about a foot down we started hitting bright orange/yellow/brown layers of clay. and i guess clay only turns that color under high prolonged heat.. and we had someone there from the historic society of bon homme county in south dakota.. he seemed to think it was the fire pit of a native american earth lodge.. we just re-buried it bc i think there might be laws against disturbing "pre-historic" archeological sites.. they estimated it to be between 600-1400 years old.. before europeans.. it was kinda sad, thinking about the people who had lived here long ago, and the changing times
Stoneware ale bottle is awesome! Genuine fluids extract? What? That could be anything!! But it sounds good! Ha!
solid 1870,s and the two bitters ,was really somthing, good thing you dig with that wood stick and not a chopping shovel
You can always tell I'm into a good layer when I bring out the stick and plastic scooper haha
The ironstone disc with a hole in the middle, is likely a butter dish insert. ( homemade butter still drained a little) @ 27:27
Awesome dig! Appreciate the history on the site and the finds!
Great Job Guys
thank you
Ye olde algorithm did it's job today✌
Tom great finds! Kool Calm Tom!

Those gins are pretty sexy, and again, nice job on the video Jake!! 👍
haha thanks! yeah i agree, those were some good looking bottles.
Nice early dig I would metal detect the spoils or even do some sifting of the use layer! Found allt of coins buttons and other stuff !!!
As I understand it the walkers vinegar bitters contained no alcohol at all. Great dig!
Cool video. Very interesting and historic site.
thanks for checking it out and commenting!
@@BelowthePlains it was my pleasure. I really enjoy y'alls videos. It's cool to see what you dig in your area
Amazing the amount of history waiting to be discovered down America's old privies. You must be making quite a business with selling your finds? Your research really pays off.
I thought there was going to be a lot more in that pit🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾
You find the most unique old items. Great bitters.
Bitters are always a fun find! Finding a number of them often indicates the privy was used by a commercial property such as a saloon.
I'm surprised noone has ever dug there before. You must know the right people.
A ginger beer!
Stoneware ale bottle is a treasure to me. 7:57
So...what we are saying is that Mr. Tackett was a Serial Killer!
hahaha i mean.. yeah. he kinda was
The law north of the Pecos?
Tom is a STUD !
Makes me wonder how many outhouses were created on our old Farmstead in North Dakota. We just closed up the last one 2 years ago.
I collect pipe bowls. I would have loved if you would have showed it up close.
have you seen our most recent video? that is hands down the coolest pipe bowl, iv ever seen. thanks for watching
What do you do with the items you find? What is the most valuable item that you have found so far and what is the worth? Is there any like "absolute best item" that you are seeking that you know holds a really high value?
well we keep about 2% of what we find. to be completely honest most of what we find doesnt have a ton of value, so we can just sell it.. but we donate alot to the local historic societies of where ever we are at, but usually we find so much that they begin to refuse to take anything else.. the highest value bottles we have found are worth a couple grand, but they are kinda hard to sell for a good price.. and i wouldnt sell some of the good ones unless it was for an amazing price.. they just mean too much to me. and yes there is one bottle we are specifically looking for. its a cobalt blue blob soda.. dating from the 1870s.. there was a guy in yankton who made sodas back in the day, and 99% of them were aqua/blueish but like in the 1970s a man was walking by the river in yankton sd, and found a cobalt one.. he didnt know it was particularity valuable but he had just found the only cobalt one.. and i guess he found 2 more shortly after... well we have been looking for one for ourselves.. and i guess the $ value on it would be $15k on a good day.. and thats the most valuable bottle from the dakotas.. but there are bottles from like colorado and california that are worth hundreds of thousands
Good videos good Diggs one suggestion is there anyway you can record at a higher volume because I have a hard time hearing what you were saying a lot of the time
yes we can. we ordered a microphone, so in a few months when we have new videos, they will be alot louder, and with less wind.. we try to keep the volume low bc we were getting alot of wind in the microphone and it can be quite loud and annoying.. so yes, we will have better quality audio in the near future. thank you for sticking with us
I have a quick question, when doing a part 2 is there a way y’all could drop a link to part 1?? To make it easier for us fans to find them
very old
what tha ,,,,,,, wow
Many vids to come!
“ But I was going to Tackett’s station to pick up some power converters! “ Says Farmer Luke.
“ You can drink and carouse with your friends after you complete your chores. “ uncle Ben retorts matter of factly
That ground was bone dry!
Do you have a place where all of your bottles are cleaned up and displayed?
How far down do have to dig?
Haha you guys are so stoned
What was the green bottle?
Bitters
Gin bitters
You sound like you are not feeling well!
I would guess that the presence of alphabet plates suggests that children were at the “lawless” station at least some of the time. I wonder if the mothers were sex workers.
eBay .
Why are you digging with a stick instead of a trowel and please do not dig with your hands you could get hurt
Disgusting history of the station.
