Just a tip should you ever get the walker's head apart again..... The metal spring in the neck can be adjusted to get rid of the walker's lazy head. If you hold it looking at its side as it would sit in the walker, take the long straight section coming off the bit that slides into the posts near the neck's pivot point and start giving it a gentle curve upward over its entire span from the mounting point forward. Your're aiming to move the tip of the spring (with the small 90 degree bend) so it rests about a 1/2" higher than it would had you left it straight. That way when it rests in the slot in the head there's some pre-load in the steel that'll hold the head level. (It does now take a tiny bit of effort to depress the head, but elevating it is a breeze and it will always come back to straight and level!) Mine has held its head high for about a decade now!

Just a FYI for next time..If you clean the battery compartment and it is clean, instead of taking apart the cockpit, sometimes you can put the batteries in,hold down on the "power" button and just walk or slightly jiggle the AT-AT for a time and the motor will start to turn, may not always work but worth a try at first instead of taking the cockpit apart.

The legs are made to be pulled off. It takes a little elbow grease, but they do come off.

Great video. I’m confused, what did you actually do to fix the electronics?

Rotating the motor often times is all it takes to get them going again that and cleaning the contacts of the electronics

Acetone vapor will also take care of the "layered look" of the 3D printed parts. Put a paper towel in side a tray to prevent spilling. Put a glass upside down on the paper towel. Then rest the part on the upside glass. Next soak the paper towel in acetone. Then cover the part, glass and paper towel with a larger upside glass container. The vapor from the acetone on the paper towel will melt away the "layered look". Don't put acetone directly on the printed part. It will just melt it.

Do you have a link to the .stl file to 3D print the cockpit lid?

While it's said George Lucas was inspired by the cranes at the LA port for the AT-AT....but while every ship in Star Wars floats on what appears to be anti gravity mechanisms, why does the AT-AT need walking legs when they could have probably made it levitate. This is all suspending Earth physics of course, but those AtATs were slow walking vehicles....so much faster if they floated.

Why didn't my parents tell me not to open the star wars toys and keep them safe and out of my way back in the day. I remember having 2 AT ATs and leaving them outside in the rain , throwing them around the place and not thinking of the long game. Anyone want to invent a time machine with me? I got a box of old broken bits and bobs and some screw drivers ?
