You know why Ruby is probably the best for Otis? It's because everytime she says something mean to him she means the opposite. This is proven when she said that it'd be so much easier if she hate him. She has a tough, mean and "hot" appearance to show and that's why she fell for him because he's almost always truthful. I like Otis and Maeve but damn this couple has an overflowing chemistry, I'll gladly take it if they end up together.
@Xenosannn that's true about Ruby but if what you said about Otis' reason for not saying the same is true that's kind of a disappointment. I would ALWAYS choose someone who loves me rather than waiting for someone I love to love me back. But then again. that's just me.

Yes, I agree they are a much better pairing as they are opposites of each other superficially but as time went on they meshed much better with each other as they brought parts of their personalities that we didn’t know existed.

Also I noticed a strange anomaly in the series with ruby. 1. The first interaction between otis and ruby is going to get a morning after pill, where she mentioned she is not ready to carry his pale and unusually long children and otis was ready to accept both her and their unborn baby. 2. Ruby has a conversation with Jean about pregnancy. 3. She talks about surrogacy in the kardashian show and how she is bold 4. She was freaked out after SRE class about a watermelon side baby coming out of a girl 5. She didn’t bother to meet the reproductive clinic after her friends consulted, 6. Before ruby left the contraceptive clinic, she was reading a pamphlet about pregnancy under 25(teenage pregnancy) She was involved around pregnancy almost most of the time, is this a mere coincidence!!
Whatever happens,. Ruby and Otis will always be one of best couples in teen series. That unexpected chemistry Asa and Mimi had was just so real and natural. Even Mimi is playing a mean vulnerable girl, the writer made there relationship so real and that really happens a lot of people but i love Otis and Ruby together. After they broke up and the bus scene with Maeve, it just felt forced, boring and dry. Lastly in the scene when Ruby told Otis that he has to go, you can see that Ruby was affirming something if Otis really has something with her. She wants her to stay. As she looks at him go, she immediately changed her expression.
Ruby x Otis forever
Honesty what made me fall in love with them wasn't just the chemistry or the bowling scene - it was the scene with Ruby's dad. We finally got to see past her facet and see how she really felt about Otis. Ruby's dad talking about how he finally got to see the famous Otis, and how he was really happy Ruby has been happy ever since they started dating. Honestly this feels like Ruby had always been interested in Otis, but her defensive mechanism has always been pushing Otis away. I wished they had explored his part of their relationship instead of ending it soo soon.
Like if you really think about it, this relationship mostly had a lot of chemistry but for the most part had a lot of element of toxicity. But with each passing episode, we saw the potential. She stopped caring what other people thought, she stopped trying to change Otis and she fully started accepting Otis. Episode 3 was soo hurtful for me, considering all the build up and ending on such a sad note. Like I get it, from Otis POV, I too would not have said I love you then. Cause he never got to see the real her till then -- She was always rude to his family and friends. Like the fact that he didn't address it properly and pretended like it didn't happen was probably what hurt her the most. But considering they are portraying high schoolers, I get it they didn't have the maturity to handle such things better.
From a writer standpoint, seeing how people loved Ruby and Otis in season 2, they probably wanted to test the reaction in this season. But I don't think even the writers would have anticipated the reception of this relationship. Maybe the writers may have shoehorn themselves not giving the Maeve and Otis relationship earlier. Like it almost starting to feel like Otis and Maeve is a plot device for Ruby and Otis, where when he finally accepts that he rather keep Maeve as a friend and pillar of support. I feel like people may be underplaying Otis and Ruby's chemistry.
Maybe they can flesh out Ruby and Otis better next season considering everyone seems want more of them. I feel like there is more potential with taking the Ruby route then with Maeve. Like you if go down Maeve route, you probably will only have interactions just involving both of them. But if you go via the Ruby route, you can explore more of Ruby's issue with pregnancy/commitment which has be constantly being brought up. Or their interaction/relationship with each other friends and family (Kind of what happened in season 3, episode 3). I cannot see that happening with Otis and Maeve (Doesn't sound like fun).
What made Ruby and Otis work was that it was an expected surprised that seems to work. Maeve and Otis being the end game would be still be good, but I just don't feel the spark anymore especially after experiencing Otis and Ruby. Like Ruby and Otis just feels different, compared all the different combinations they have tried.
wow that was very well written and i completely agree. Seasons 1 and 2 I was routing for Otis and Maeve like who wasn't? Even beginning season 3 I was excited to see them develop but wow was I in for a shock with Otis and Ruby. It was so unexpected but it just worked and the development of Ruby's character was amazing and I can't wait to see what happens next season and even if Otis and Ruby don't happen, hopefully more screen time for Ruby🤍🤍

@@compelledwolves3890 there are many things actually!! there’s an opinion that Ruby confessed her feelings towards Otis way to soon, but actually, she’s been holding it for a while since S2E7 I guess(4-5 months).
There were small hints of her being into him even during “casual” stage of relationship by being jealous and protective.
1. E1 when Hope invited Maeve and Otis to her office, the camera quickly showed Ruby’s reaction, she was annoyed. More than that, she wanted to have sex with him right after this meeting, just to prove to herself that Otis still belongs to her.
2. E1 when Otis told her that they’re “breaking up”, she was the one who wanted to text him by saying how stupid that was of her and that she wants to continue their relationship.
She could’ve ended their relationship and find someone new to have sex with, but she didn’t. Which proves the point of her having more than just good sex from relationship from Otis.
3. E2 when she gave Otis Anwar’s jacket, Anwar wanted it back but Ruby defended Otis by telling Anwar that Otis will keep it and that Anwar can’t own a look.
This might be “copium”, but Ruby had feelings for Otis long before season 3. Cause she never really trusted anyone and didn’t have a proper relationship, she used sex with Otis just to be around him. In her mind, a guy needs to have sex in order to be around. And it really was like that, Otis was around her and that made her happy, cause she can be herself around him and not wear a mean girl mask(her dad saying she became happy ever since she started seeing Otis).
Another small detail: in E2 after having sex Otis asked her about helping her dad and she asked him back about wanting to have sex again(read what I said before ). When he said he wants to help her, her face changed, she said she’s fine and she quickly rushed away to hide her feelings.
And in the end of E2, when Otis asked her to be his girlfriend, it completely assured her(again, in her mind) that he loves her too. And since she thought so, she decided to confess her feelings.
When Otis wanted to go public, it was a sign for her that he might be into her, but she was too scared to do so and denied it cause she’s insecure about herself.
After their relationship went public, she was the one who offered him to continue seeing each other without hiding.

Imagine if it's always been there, a foreshadowing of what's to come for these two. The show writers want to educate and entertain us. They have touched on many topics...teen pregnancy/parenthood being an important one yet to be dissected.

this edit is the DEFINITION of perfect!!! i feel like it summed up ruby's character depth so well- you could feel as the video progressed how her feelings for otis developed into something genuine. the song choice was perfect too- the lyrics fading out into the instrumental at the end i think highlights just how sudden and unexpectedly ruby fell for him.
she changed for him , to deserved his love , showed the hidden side of her and that's deserved the endgame with each other
I REALLY REALLY hope that the writers of the show have seen how much we like Otis and Ruby together and continue it in season 4. I was waiting to see Otis and Maeve together in season 3 when season 2 ended but seeing these 2 together made me realise how much better they are for eachother.

I hope the writers are smart and nimble enough to change course and bring them back together. They are so good as a couple and it would be great to see them consolidate their relationship. They- bring out the best out of each other. She is such an endearing and complex character. She can be mean, let’s be honest, but when you see past the facade and you look at how much she loves him your heart just melts…REAL love and passion are staring Otis right in the face but he can’t see it because he is infatuated with Maeve.
She opened her heart to him, and he broke her. She put all of herself and changed for him to be better, he only saw it as a hobby.
In a relationship you can't force anyone to love you, but you can't stop caring for a person in such a short time.
The good thing was that Maeve did the same to him at the end of the season, she stepped on his feelings.

Really hope that Ruby and Otis will end up with each other spread the news until the writers will be notice it, and eventually come into senses that Otis and Ruby really is a good couple in the story. The chemistry is just astounding and very natural. Long distance relationship will not work they can start with that plot line and in fact we can’t totally say that Otis is really over with Ruby and Ruby is really over with Otis. Last scene between the two saying that “I don’t really hate you Otis, it would be easier if I would” that line means hope for the both of them to get a nice story line and get back with each other. Writers please listen to your fans. Please.
these writers better see how much we want ruby x otis back. i strongly believe they’re endgame. rubys love for otis was so genuine, and the moment he said he didn’t wanna change in order to hangout with her, thats when she realized she fell. this is so much better than otis and maeve so they better save this relationship because i need them together in season 4.
Surreal how like 5-6 episodes from s2-3 made us realize Ruby x Otis is better than Maeve x Otis.

I like that Otis was big enough to admit he didn't feel that way instead of lying to stay with her or spare her feelings. I regret that her character was dropped almost completely from that moment until she fought Hope.

I hated Issac at the end of season 2 for deleting the voice message and yet again preventing Otis and Maeve from being together. But in doing so we gotten something 10x more beautiful that we as the audience could never imagine.

I never understand coldplay until this video
It shocked me when Ruby fought Hope, but hey maybe thats a good sign for S4 and otis too. To be honest Ruby character is ready to take over Maeve since she is going to America in the story and Emma seems not sure whether to continue or not in S4. I see both otis and ruby feel more intense, joy, romantic and lovely in the scene. Surprisingly this couple is more natural fit in my opinion, and hey I'm not the only one feeling this.
To be honest the whole show could be retooled around Ruby and Otis. We would have Maeve on the first season as Otis love interest but after that we would have Rotis developing and it would still be an awesome and much funnier show. Ruby’s character is a force of nature that can NOT be put away now…

Ruby's dad calling Otis famous (Otis is not even famous) just proves how much Ruby adores and loves Otis. Maeve and Otis just brings the bad things out of each other in season 1 and 2, Otis even forgot his bestfriend because of Maeve, Maeve on the other hand gives two guys a go signal even though she is aware that Otis really likes her, Otis treated her badly in the party as a rettaliation without knowing what Maeve is going on through. How is that toxicity made for each other, they are only friends in this case, what if they become lovers, I can only see them misunderstanding each other from time to time.
But the writer clevery put this unexpected ship(Ruby and Otis) that is adored by its viewers. After the breakup, Ruby needs her space as she mentioned to Otis while Otis needs time to realize if he can love Ruby or if he loves Ruby. They both share the uncertainty that is non toxic and is really interesting as the authors leaves a space for char dev if they want to make it happen.
Otis. If you dont love ruby, why you make her fall in love to you. Why you came to ruby house if you dont love her. Damn man, otis make me sick.

S4 honestly went stale after episode 4. Ruby brought sassy (in a good way), comedy and romance and good energy to the characters and it makes me feel so sad for her ending.
Ik there are several hints indicating that she is pregnant but is that giving opportunity for Otis to show love or responsibility? Especially after he broke her heart and kissed maeve in 1 episode? I guess it gives Otis something to prove to the viewers. But if ruby isn’t pregnant, I really hope that the writers keep expanding on her character and she gets happiness, even without Otis. Ultimately, a dream s4 would be maev and Otis deciding that they stay friends and maeve has moved on, Otis falls for ruby and he needs to win her back. #rotis

I think Maeve(amazing actress) is a great as individual caracter but the relationship with otis bored and too predictable. On the other way Ruby and Otis is natural there's something about them you want to see more and i can not explain why. The chemistry between them is insane. Is a shame the Ruby's carácter is not enough developed yet.
May be not in season 4 because of the writers but this Two deserves its own show or movie. They are magnificent actors.
