Currently reading Babel and LOVING IT. I am also almost finish with Mistborn and also loving it! My priority is to read the cosmere books and to keep up with the new releases of the year
Love these two! So glad to hear someone else is loving my faves ❤
So excited for Katabasis! RFK is my forever autobuy, she never fails with the waterworks. Also, the cosmere’s a blast! Have fun 💕
@ oh I think RFK will be a fav author for me, is my first time reading something about her and my mind is BLOWN. I am also excited for katabasis! I already pre ordered it haha
So excited for you to read Tolkien!! They are a bit dense so I do recommend the audio book version narrated by Andy Serkis (he played Gollum in the movies!), he does a fantastic job with the voices plus as someone who has trouble reading lyrics in books he actually sings the songs! which was so much more fun and memorable.
Normal People and Babel are also both stunning gorgeous girls🖤
I’m so excited for you to read Beartown! I just finished the trilogy and I milked the last one for months because I didn’t want it to end. It’s heartbreaking and beautiful and no one tells a story the was Backman does❤. My husband just finished Beartown and said he needs to start Us Against You immediately
Love this TBR 😍 I’m currently reading Babel, and it’s great! Definitely dense lol, but I’m having an absolute blast, and the 1800s Oxford vibes are real. Dracula is also on my TBR this year! And I hope you like Station Eleven when you get back to it! Some of the most gorgeous writing ever imo, and one of those plots that, once all the pieces and characters start to come together, I just couldn’t put down
I LOVED East of Eden when I read it a few years ago. I’ve also read a few others and loved them as well. So much so that Steinbeck is one of my favorite authors now and one of my goals for this year is to read more of his books! Other things on my radar are some Nancy Mitford books, Liz Tomforde’s next release Rewind It Back, and of course Onyx Storm lol quite a diverse collection there 🤷♀️
Mistborn is on my list too! And, finally, Legends and Lattes.
I LOVE East of Eden, LOTR, Station Eleven, and Book Lovers - you are in for an amazing reading year!!
I just finished The Winners, the last book in the Beartown series. This is the first time I’ve ever cried reading every book in a single series. So powerful, such great writing, and amazing characters that will stick with me forever. Hope you enjoy it Whitney 🩵🫶
Babel is so good, and Oxford as a location is woven throughout because Kuang spent time studying at Oxford and is very familiar with the campus!
L.M. Montgomery is one of my favorite authors! Anne is a wonderful character and Anne of green gables is an 8 book series going from Anne’s childhood up to her adult life! It’s wonderful and i recommend the whole series!
Babel is such a well written book that gets better the further you get into it and it is insanely well researched so I highly recommend!
I am so ready to read Martyr, everyone seems to be loving that. Dracula is greeeeat, so much fun! Station Eleven is one of my favorite books, I hope you enjoy it.
I recently read Part of Your World and loved it! I’m not usually a big romance reader, let alone straight romance, but I actually enjoyed it and am excited to read more Abby Jimenez!
I also want to read Dracula this year!! :) I'm also excited for Kuang's new novel, Katabasis, which comes out later this year!
Anne of Green Gables is one of my favourite classics. I absolutely love Anne ❤
I just started my Tessa Dare journey thanks to you. I seriously love her. Her characters are wonderful!! I am also reading John Green’s tuberculosis book. All this social media posts made me want to get it 😂. The one book I need to read this year is Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson.
You have so many books i also want to read this year!! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on these books
I hope you love Normal People! It was the book that made me fall in love with Sally Rooney, and I ended up reading all her books in 2024
I really should put together a TBR for the year! Or at least the next few books. I've been on a UA-cam kick lately so not much reading has been getting done.
i’m literally already frothing at the mouth thinking about katabasis by rf kuang. i’ve loved all her books, especially the poppy war trilogy and i’m so so excited but at the same time devastated that i’ll have to wait until august
My 25 is kinda random but Babel is also on mine! Also hoping to get into James Baldwin this year and read more classics. (I read Rebecca after your rec and was obsessed!!)
i reread the Cruel Prince trilogy last year and loved it even more than the first time i read it!
my anticipated releases list is like 20 books long, but Rebecca is on my 25 in 2025 cuz of your recommendation!!
Part of Your World is on my Feb tbr, it's like you read my mind cos I've been meaning to try her for a while too!
As for a new release, I'm interested in trying 'A Witch's Guide to Magical Innkeeping' which is out in March or April I think? I like cosy fantasy but it can really be hit or miss.
I put off reading great books, too lol I hope you love Mistborn. That original trilogy is amazing. I also enjoyed Dracula, Station Eleven, and East of Eden. Love LOTR, Abbie Jiminez, and Book Lovers! I'm a huge fan of Rebecca - I guess I need to finally read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn!
Babel is also on my list this year! As well as getting further into Stephen King's bibliography, I've read 36 of his books so far, next up is Skeleton Crew and then I'm so excited for his new release in May called Never Flinch!
I'm currently reading Martyr and so far it is really really good I think you'll like it a lot! Also I'm a big fan of booklovers. I'm really interested in how you will like the books once you read them :))
I didn't care for Convenience Store Woman so I will be very interested to hear your thoughts (our tastes don't always overlap, so there's a big chance you'll love it). I lived in Japan for 7 years so I am VERY familiar with Japanese convenience stores and Japanese society in general. It will be fun to see the book through fresh eyes!
Holy Macaroni, dude. I made a Bingo board of books I want to get to this year and we have quite a bit of overlap. Martyr!, A tree grows in brooklyn, Babel, East of Eden, The Hobbit, and a Brandon Sanderson novel. I picked Warbreaker but still! Have a good reading year!
great list! i LOVED “anne with an e” so much & was so sad it got cancelled 😭 i’ve yet to read the book though and would love to get around to it some day.
lord of the rings trilogy(+ the hobbit) is also high on my list to read this year. i’ve been obsessed with this series since i was a kid but never thought to actually read the books so now is my time 😤
My daughter is 20 and loved, The Silent Patient. She normally prefers fantasy, so I was surprised.
Dracula is amazing to read reread and rereread. Didnt like Station 12 at all. Definitely a good reading year for you! 🎉
i read Babel this january, and it INSTANTLY became my new favorite it's so so good!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who puts off books. I've had the Mistborn series and the first book in the Inheretance Games for years now. In fact, I just worked my way into the ACOTR series. I'm a mess. lol
my top book that just came out today is We Could Be Rats by Emily Austin! I've loved her other two books so I'm really excited to read this one. I'm especially excited because it's about sisters and I love anything about siblings
Omg I didn't know about new Ransom Riggs series, it actually sounds interesting!
part of your world aggravated me sooooo much i haven’t even touched just for the summer and that’s a shame cause everyone seems to love that one 😭
i can't wait to hear your opinion about dracula because i hate that book with everything in me and am always keen to hear if people liked it or not and why hahah
Oh my gosh. The Blue Castle is one of my all time favourite books. I get so excited when anyone wants to read it!
Do you have any interest in using Storygraph? I'm trying to transition away from Goodreads.
Reading the whole Cosmere this year! 🎉
I do the same!! Loved ACOMAF but loved it so much I’m scared to keep going with the other ones!
Not sure if you're a hunger games girly but Sunrise On The Reaping (Haymitch's book) is coming out in March!
LM Montgomery also published her journals.
i recently read babel, i also put it off bc of the hype but it was so good and unfortunately very relevant rn
Mistborn read along? I’d be so here for that
Ohhh I just reread the cruel prince series so I can finally read the new duology too!!
Loved vespertine!!!
The biggest argument I've ever had with my wife was over The Silent Patient. She absolutely loved it and I absolutely hated it. 😂
Will you be picking up Sunrise on the Reaping? I still need to pick up The Inheritance Games as well. Maybe I'll push it up on my TBR list or just wait to hear your thoughts haha
I feel like if you would love Tress by Brandon Sanderson… lots of whimsy in that book!
Calling a wolf a wolf slapppppped so hard
Hope you enjoy your reads. 🍩☕📚❄️☃️
I would love to buddy reread Lord of the Rings with someone but idk who with. 😭
are you gonna read the new hunger games book out this year?
TIL Whitney is a Gen Zer... Why did I think you were a millenial like me.. (Probably because you've been on here for like a decade).
MISTBORNNNN!!!!!
ive summoned him
Hi, Swede here 🙋♀ Immediately when you went "I Googled it, that's how you pronounce it" I went "Nope" 😂 It sounds more like "Buckmann" when we pronounce it in Swedish - you can hear it pronounced here 👉 ua-cam.com/video/CNFqdUbRRzg/v-deo.html
Otherwise, HIGHLY recommend all of Backman's books, but especially Bear Town - I don't care about ice hockey at all, but found myself so intrigued by the hockey and fan culture in this book! It's fantastic 👌
Yes I need to read the mistborn series too😅 my boyfriend’s mom gave me a copy of Anne of green gables for Christmas since they moved to PEI 🥹
I want to get to about half of these but my TBR never ends. Someday ✌️🥲
