4THECRAFT is proud to present a SUN PLANET LAMP from epoxy resin. The lamp displays the SUN Planet with its heated gas no solid surface and some explosions. Although I had an unexpected problem with the glass paint that I have used to paint the sun (which I explain in the video), the final result is a very satisfying to watch SUN Lamp with warm red and orange colors.

It's nice but I really wish you would have sanded down the seam on the sphere, it's way too visible in the final product.
Yes I agree I should have sanded it better. I just thought that the glass colour would cover the line but I was wrong. Especially when the colour melted it got more visible. I guess we learn from our mistakes 😊😊. Many thanks 👍

I’d love to see the resulting video if you decide to do this again! It would be wonderful to eliminate that centre line from the spherical mould, & it would be awesome to see many, MANY more explosions! Maybe even intersecting ones! I’ve no idea if that would work but it sounds cool. Oooh, perhaps another version could be based off some of NASAs alternate views of the sun at different wavelengths? I hope you’re proud of this project. You absolutely deserve to be. It’s gorgeous!

What are you talking about bro , it looks perfect no problem with painting it makes it even more realistic, those non perfect painting spots looks like the rings on the atmosphere of the sun caused by the electromagnetic field. Loved it ❤️
It looks really good, tiny things just to be picky solar granulation are smaller. It is a detail but it could ad more and more realism. All the best.

the molten red glass paint looks like a sunstorm, so u dont have to make another one because in my opinion it looks a way more realistic. Fantastic work buddi :)

Agreed, the only "flaw" I saw was the ring from the mold and a little sanding would've taken care of that! otherwise it looked fantastic!!

This is absolutely AMAZING!!! So clear. How did you get your resin so clear, pressure pot? What resin are you using? Gorgeous! And the music matched very well.
Thank you. No I havent used a pressure pot. I have just used a good quality epoxy resin and kept the temp stable at 26Celsius during the three days of curing. Maybe I got lucky 😁😁

I think that the curing resin over heating the glass paint could be viewed as a happy accident - the bleed through looks entirely natural and gives a fantastic heat haze effect - a totally amazing work of art. You should be very proud of it x

You could probably blot the painted sun with crumpled plastic to achieve a similar effect to all those brush dabs. Great idea for the explosions. Really neat!

Such an awesome piece of art! Maybe the solution to the melting sun bursts is to dye the resin itself red and pour it thicker before cutting them out? That sun turned out perfectly tho, so if I were you I’d be ecstatic with your results!

Thank you. This led light has a life of over 30.000 hours but I agree the option to change the bulb would be even better.
If you ever do something like this again you ought to look at the images of the sun from the Solar Dynamics Observatory, I think it would help the look of the final product. Also the "explosions" which are actually eruptions of magnetically contained plasma are called either prominences or flares (Coronal Mass Ejections) depending on whether or not they are contained by the suns magnetic fields or sent flying out into space.

@@4THECRAFT It's probably form one of the solar observatories possibly even SDO, but it is false color data from UV I believe it said and you can see some crazy false color images (the sensors read high and low, so actual data usually comes in grey shade and is colored to help us understand it) in the other wavelengths on top of the ability so see the field lines in the plasma and high resolution images of flares and prominences along side sun spots.
