Former medical technologist here. I'd just like to add that "positive pregnancy test" does not necessarily mean "pregnant". It means (depending on the type of test used) that a hormone usually associated with pregnancy is present at significant levels in the sample we tested. There are occasional instances of the hormone levels being elevated in a woman who is not pregnant, and in very rare instances even in a man. That's why if there's any question whatsoever, repeat the test or use a different method to confirm or rule out pregnancy.
@@cjgia4898 I would use the word "unusual". And the tests are getting more reliable all the time. Even so, a positive test may be as high as 99% accurate, but not 100%

My husband kept telling me he thought I was pregnant, but my cycles had been irregular for years with no explanation, so it wouldn’t be anything for me to think twice about my period being late for months at a time, so I was in denial of being pregnant, but one day I just woke up feeling rough aF, he went to the store, brought back a pregnancy test, convinced me to take it, big blatant positive, I cried so hard, happy tears, we wanted that in the worst way, he’s a happy, healthy 2 year old now
It's almost like a freak instinct or intuition that some fathers pick up on. I did the same thing with my ex before ever finding out she was pregnant. Even had a gut feeling that we were having a girl and the day we went in to find out sure enough we find out we're having a girl 🙂.
When I was 16 I went to the doctor by myself for the first time and they had me take a pregnancy test but they mixed up the results or something so the conversation went like this. My mom told this story quite a bit... She was 38 when she went to the doctor complaining of being nauseous and tired all the time. He ran a bunch of tests, told her she was pregnant. Her response was, "You're a damn liar!" But 33 years later, here I am, so ... apparently he wasn't lying. XD
As someone who had their tubes tied, I DID get pregnant after. It was 9 yrs later & it was ectopic - but when you think you're done & then find out you're not, it's a whirlwind of emotions. And then you find out it has to be terminated...that's when guilt & sadness sneak in.
Worked for a time at a theme park and was told this story. The attraction had an advisory that pregnant women should not ride. Those working the greeting area of the attraction were trained how to spot and approach women that appeared to be pregnant and ask them if they were. A co-worker of mine saw a youngish looking woman that appeared to just begin showing. He walked up to her and said, "excuse me, I'm very sorry but I have to ask you if you are expecting a child?" An older man standing near her started laughing and said, "I told you you need to go on a diet." The girl looked at him and said, "Daddy, I need to tell you something..." Hell of a way to have your vacation ruined.
When I was 16, I missed a period and was terrified to tell my mum so I hid it for a week before I finally broke down crying in the middle of a car ride. No warning, just completely bawling out of nowhere. She had to pull over cuz I scared her and I confessed everything. We got a test, and it ended up positive and I ended up crying for an hr that day. And a large, uncontrollable burst of tears every day after at random until I had a miscarriage about a month later.
Pixel Smile we don't need your insensitivity. 30 year olds could react poorly to a pregnancy due to the timing of such. Sure we could wish that everyone would "just use protection," but r@p3 unfortunately occurs and protection may be forgotten in the heat of the moment. Seriously, don't be so fucking insensitive, ESPECIALLY when a miscarriage is involved. DO NOT have it be seen as a "lesson," since you do not know how that person got pregnant, and whether it was consensual or forced. Seriously, have some more sympathy. Adults can be "immature" with it too, and can be devastated by a pregnancy as well. I don't know why people think that when someone is an adult, that suddenly getting pregnant will always be okay.. that's not how it works. Age does not equal whether or not you're ready.
I hate hearing that sometimes family berate young people for getting pregnant by accident... I am not female but wouldn't the better thing to do is be understanding and helpful since... they messed up bad (if it was unplanned) and need the support at this time, like sure have some disappointment but also be the parent, not the judgmental stranger

The predicting one happened to me but in a different way. My husband kept saying it’s time for us to have my twins. Or something like it’s about time for my twins to come. I got sick and he told me I was pregnant and when I stayed very sick he was like it’s because it’s the twins. It started to annoy me a little but I didn’t think much of it. We went to the ER because I was cramping early on and after waiting hours he leaves to go get food. As soon as he leaves they call me back for ultrasound and the lady says well there’s two babies in there. When I wanted to find out the gender I really wanted either two girls or b/g. One day the landlord asks us what we are having I say I hope girls. When we got in the car he said I hate to tell you but it’s two boys. He was correct. Very weird the way he was so matter of fact about everything.

Maybe theres this thing called RELIGION, which her parents followed. And if ya didn't know, sex before marriage is a sin in the christian religion. (Even though alot of people break that rule) the purpouse for marriage was for if men couldn't hold the urge any longer, to find a partner and "play around" not only that, but you usually marry above 18, and you usually marry if you have somewhere to live, so if you did have a baby it has a home that both partners own. That's some pretty good reasons to have sex after marriage. Just sayin

High school was weird because when girls had sex the rest of the students called her normal, lovely, fun, empowered, fearless etc. Basically nothing negative; but as soon as a girl got pregnant they called her slut, whore, street corner etc and they shunned her. Which didn't make sense to me at all, having sex doesn't make you a slut but getting pregnant does?
Protip for new, first time moms: Gripe water. If your baby is fussy and doesn't want milk, juice or water from its bottle, try gripe water. Just a spoonful or two will take care of stuck wind. And yes, it's "safe" and not anything fancy, it's a very old remedy involving dill (it smells of pickle juice) but available anywhere baby stuff is sold. And if your baby is still fussy, try cutting the feet off the sleepers, not all babies like to have their feet confined so.
Im always very careful about protection and I have always been safe. But if my protection would fail for whatever reason I sure as hell get an abortion. Take care women and men of YT. Protection is important.
oh my cousin has a good story about her pregnancy. she didn’t know she was pregnant for 7/8 months. everything was normal. she got her period, she never had cravings and her stomach never grew. she finds out while at the doctors and everyone was confused when she told us. we were also concerned because she had gone to vegas and partied and drank hard. a week or two later she had to give birth and the baby was born a month early. he’s a completely healthy year old baby and the cutest thing ever
I'm pretty good with kids and I do think I would adopt some day if the time came. The problem for me is that I have some previous trauma that somehow lead to a fear of pregnancy, so if a doctor told me I was pregnant I have no clue how I would react.
It's not unlikely, though very lucky. Twins are unusual, but not as unusual as triplets or above. The genders are trickier to guess but you still only have three choices, boy boy, girl girl or girl boy, so a 33% likelihood of being correct. And if you guess girl boy, then you're 50% likely to guess the correct order.
Pregnancy betting is totally a thing! My grandfather bet that my mom was going to be a girl to the guy next to him in the emergency room! Put that in my mom's college fund 😎
My cousin got her tubes tied back in the 70s I think. Might have been 80s. Anyway, she almost immediately became pregnant with TWINS. If I remember right, the hospital had to pay for the kids’ basic needs til they were 18 because they botched the procedure. Some sort of settlement along those lines.
The predicting one was totally me with my aunt. I told her she was pregnant with a girl and she didn’t believe me (my mom was pregnant with my brother and I was 3, so they thought I was just being silly).
Oh yeah, I've heard that kids can just TELL. Kids are on some shit man 😂 I've heard of another story where this one girl told her mother that her baby sister's inside of her mother (she was only 3 or 4), and sure enough she has a little sister 😂
when i worked in hospitals, one lady came in after maybe 5 kids and had her tubes tied and cauterized (tubes taken all the way back to the ovaries and literally burned out) AND her husband had a vasectomy. about 18 months later, she was pregnant. again. sometimes shit just happens.
@Rene S kind of hard not to when Karen is a couple months away from taking the kids and cheating on her husband, like most woman. But sure, mans should just chop le nuts off
The last one was exactly how I came to be. I was a twin who was secretly stealing my brothers nutrients. Then a week after the miscarriage I was born. Doctors had no idea
I was at a clinic and overheard this unfold, So this girl is at this doctor for what i assume is getting test results or something the doctor tells her she is pregnant. Flabbergasted she tells him there must be a mistake because how is she pregnant since she used to be a dude in which case it turns out to be prostate cancer and she dies within a month which i found out about because the reason i was even at this clinic was because my friend was getting a boob job and she apparently became friends with her doctor.
Everyone at work was telling a young coworker that she was pregnant (she had "symptoms") and she kept saying "no way". I told her about how on an episode of Scrubs where a character got his GF pregnant. Sure enough she was pregnant.
I sensed my friend was pregnant because she never asked me for two months if i already had my period (we always have the same date), And she always wanted to have a drink with me everyday. After a few thinking it seems to me that She's expecting to have a miscarriage for binge drinking.
Damn I actually had a relevant story for this. So this happened to my maternal grandma. She was having cramps or something and had to go to the doctor and she was diagnosed with ovarian cysts. She was like “damn, I was hoping that I was pregnant.” So they scheduled the surgery and when they were performing it they found... something else. The surgeons were all “Whoa, okay. We need to get this done as quickly and carefully as possible.” If they botched that surgery up I wouldn’t exist.
After hearing about what pregnancy and the after effects are like, I can totally see some women not knowing they are pregnant. For instance, my mom and mom's friend have both said that gas bubbles can sometimes feel like baby movements. So if a future fart feels like a baby, the reverse is true. Then there's that depending on how the baby is positioned/grows, you may not show much if at all, (see: www.thebump.com/news/no-baby-bump-tilted-uterus). Then theres that some babies are very active, almost seemingly trying to crawl out of the mother at any given moment...and some are very quiet, with very little major movements. So take a baby who isn't very active, who's limited movements feel like gas, combined with a woman who is already heavy OR has a tilted uterus OR (like one woman I saw) so fit that her abs basically keep the baby further back and thus doesn't show as much.... And combine that with the fact that some women just don't really have any real pregnancy symptoms. THEN with that some women have basically fake periods (light bleeding) during pregnancy that can mimic a period.....and if a nice perfect storm of coincidences happen, boom! they can last quite a while (even up to birth) without knowing that they're pregnant. Weirdly enough I had the opposite situation to many of these women. I had a LOT of the symptoms. Sudden weight gain (all in my stomach and hips too. on a really bad bloat day i really do look 1st-2nd trimester), body changes, uncontrolled morning sickness that lasted until 12pm every day, sore pelvic floor and back, and most of all...unprotected sex. Everyone, my teachers, friends, family...thought i was for sure pregnant. Hell so did I sometimes. But i always had my periods (heavy, unrelenting), and every test that was thrown at me was negative. Appearently It was just stress from being overloaded at school ( I was only sleeping 4 hours a night, everynight), combined with puberty finally catching up with me (late bloomer), multiple ovarian cysts, and a lifetime of no exercise or dieting that led to the unfortunate lady beer gut. It's been 6 years since then, and these symptoms still haunt me to this day (except the nausea. that ended when i got consistent good sleep), and yet...no baby. I sure did appreciate the special treatment at school though, and was allowed to eat in class whenever!
Omg, I hope you're doing alright, even with the symptoms. I don't believe that I was pregnant, but god damn I used to have INTENSE nauseous my freshman year for every day.. thankfully that stopped after 6 or so months I'd assume. It was horrible.
@@sarathesimmersarathesimmer1300 Yeah once I started sleeping in a healthy way again, the morning sickness stopped. I still have issues from the cysts, but that's normal once you start getting them. Now I'm just working on doing what I should have done all along, by being more physically active and careful of what I eat. My body still feels like its in a flux sometimes, but its a LOT better. Weirdly enough nausea from stress is actually pretty common. Maybe you were dealing with that your freshman year?

Former medical technologist here. I'd just like to add that "positive pregnancy test" does not necessarily mean "pregnant". It means (depending on the type of test used) that a hormone usually associated with pregnancy is present at significant levels in the sample we tested. There are occasional instances of the hormone levels being elevated in a woman who is not pregnant, and in very rare instances even in a man. That's why if there's any question whatsoever, repeat the test or use a different method to confirm or rule out pregnancy.
Yeah i knew that?
Okay no i didn't
False positives are pretty rare tho?

Worked for a time at a theme park and was told this story. The attraction had an advisory that pregnant women should not ride. Those working the greeting area of the attraction were trained how to spot and approach women that appeared to be pregnant and ask them if they were. A co-worker of mine saw a youngish looking woman that appeared to just begin showing. He walked up to her and said, "excuse me, I'm very sorry but I have to ask you if you are expecting a child?" An older man standing near her started laughing and said, "I told you you need to go on a diet." The girl looked at him and said, "Daddy, I need to tell you something..." How tf did that husband manage to predict everything about the pregnancy, down to the birth order??
It's not unlikely, though very lucky. Twins are unusual, but not as unusual as triplets or above. The genders are trickier to guess but you still only have three choices, boy boy, girl girl or girl boy, so a 33% likelihood of being correct. And if you guess girl boy, then you're 50% likely to guess the correct order.

10:30 isn’t the point to go to an emergency room for an emergency???
