A trick to find a unit is to go by the thermostat and open your google earth and zoom in as far as you can. Then take a snap shot of the roof top unit. Then when you get in the roof you have a map!!
I learned that trick from my co worker 😜
I work at a hvac parts store and these videos help me understand more about this field and maybe one day I’ll go to school for hvac.
Nice job, gave me a refresher..I need to get that poper.this how we become better techs to learn off each other. Make that money...🤑
i watch your shit everyday bro just started watching im 25 just graduated hvac school and been to 6 interviews still havent gotten hired! lol but good stuff
Love this videos, I am going to chattahoochee technical school this summer 2021, I missed spring enrollment.......this makes me love this job even more.......I like solving problems
I can appreciate your attitude. I am very similar. I know many techs who could learn from you. Having a good attitude can take a person far
An easy way to find a short quickly is to take the stat off the wall, then go back up and check continuity between all the stat wires. If you have a tone then you have a problem. Don't forget to check them all to ground as well
Loving the vids very informative I am new to the HVAC industry I appreciate people like you who make videos like this👍🏻
thanks for your video
you explain things decently. i work in Property maintenance and we also do HVAC on commercial and residential and i am still learning. there are 4 of us and we manage a lot of properties.
keep up the good work and stay safe.
Ohming out the contactor coil would be something else to try when dealing with a short
It was funny af when you made the lil guitar sound after you cracked open the red bull 🤣
If the control circuit something trip off probably problem is coil contactor from blower and if the stage 1 and stage 2 demand thermostat indoor blinking you can check with multi meter coil is shorted
Enjoyed this one bro! Gotta love those calls that end up being something that’s so easily overlooked, they can drive you crazy!
Why you hate small calls?
I work everyday calls like this.
Im from cancun México.
I like your videos.
I love your videos bro one day i can cross USA to find a job there😊
You caught the fuse filament break with the camera 🎯
Next time since the Transformers easily accessible stick your little popper in between the Transformer and your jumper wire. So jump from the 24 hot side of the transformer red wire to each wire independently until something happens. If nothing happens suspect your contactor and I've even seen the ohms of resistance being too low on your Versa valve coil check both. They don't always trip the fuse instantly. The ohms on the Reversing valve coil and contactor should be around 20. I've seen the reversing valve coil down to 5 ohms and after a day or two it would trip the fuse.
Anybody else hit the like button before the video starts?
The moment you sneeze cuz you allergic to the bullshit... Salud! 😷
Loving your channell you are killing it in the hvac world
New to you're channel. Awesome work Ernesto! I look forward to following more of your adventures :)
Alright, something good to watch while recharging from a hell of a day!!!
I don't do alot of comercial but damn I hate those roofs always wonder if there equipment is not maintained and the area isn't so nice is the beams or wood truss gonna snap lol and then the first couple I went on i almost walked on the fiberglass area not paying attention. Be safe.
Good video, them shorts can drive you crazy sometimes
Yup temperature gonna high I made already in same issue your vlg alwys valuable big thumbs up
I hate those standing seam roofs too!!
Be careful of the Bat Flu !! Great job
Hi, I’m assuming you jumpered out the smoke detector wires where they came back to the unit proving your diagnoses?
Good video as always buddy..
I had the same problem and found the contactor was the issue
What app and manifold allows you to check those readings?
what is this app and gauge that you use to check the refrigerant psi????
I keep them fuses and poppers in the bag.
Great vid!... Did you look out for that heat exchanger when you were drilling that hole in the supply lol I know they sit fairly close just wondering
A guey you forgot to plug up the holes in the first call 😂😂😂👍🏽
Which bag is that if you don’t mind me asking, great video as always fam
bkluntz Looks like the Veto Pro Pac MC Closed Top
Personally I would have jumped the smoke detector just to make sure the unit turns on. I've had tripped detectors, and shorted detectors mislead me for a low voltage short. For me, I have to get the unit running. If it can be done today, it'll be done today. However I don't have the balls to leave the smoke detector jumped. I'll rewire it when I leave, but I need to know if I nailed the problem lol. Good video bro
@@Hvacrvlogger huh, makes sense, i guess they do em differently in Cali. Normally here in Florida they run the wires to the unit, some places use the unit to power the smoke detector, many bring wires to the unit, so I'm able to jump it that way. Keep up the awesome work though!
Just started following you on IG
What's bag is it?
low voltage shorts are always a pain dude lol
Did any one else say bless you each time he sneezed?
You should have got the summer edition redbull man those been my go too lately 🤘🏻
Aaron Arias summer edition is so good. 👍🏼
good video young man. Please stop throwing the panels around. thanks
Superb vid! Watching from the United Kingdom! 😀
Nice job 👍👍
Just some advice, there's a high possibility for shorted relay coil, contactor coil, seized or stuck contactor causing over amp situation since it cant pull in, lastly I would jumped the smoke just to verify it that is indeed the problem and then recon8it, but yea 24 v shorts can be a pain at times. Good job nonetheless
if those smoke terminals are shorting the fuse in the unit.the wires should be in the unit also. You could jump it there. Or it would have to be at the thermostat
FLL 1225 exactly what I meant, didn’t want the guy to feel attacked, I’m pretty sure making these videos ain’t easy
Is my assumption that the smoke detector and low voltage circuits share the same transformer? If yes, is that customary?
Smoke detectors have a set of dry contacts that break when they detect smoke. Usually they break the low voltage on 'R' between the stat and the unit. It will most likely have a separate 120 volt circuit providing it power.
Hey man love watching your videos! I'm learning a lot from them! Getting into the this trade soon so it's very exciting to watch what I could be running into. I want to get a decent hvac meter so is the fieldpiece sc260 overpriced for $230 CAD?
Thanks!
Ricky Truong shop the pawn shops. There are always meters in there for way cheaper than what they retail for. I bought my field piece 440 for $90 US at my local pawn shop. 🤙🏻
@@joeychops I wouldn't trust a meter from a pawn shop but that's just my opinion to each is own. And of course if its what you can afford thats a heck of a deal. SC260 gives off weird amperage reading sometimes, 440 much better. And fluke seems to be more popular here in Ontario. More available anyways.
Phollip I have a non pawn shop Fluke as well that I bust out from time to time if I feel my field piece is giving me a weird reading. But so far, in 2 years of carrying the 440 in my bag, it’s been solid and reliable. I get why some people might not trust pawn shop buys, and I respect that, but so far, everything used I’ve bought has been reliable. But than again, that’s just my personal experience. 🤙🏻
I live here in Ontario as well! I don't think I've ever been to a pawn shop before, I didn't know they would sell those kind of electronics. Unless you can call a flea market a pawn shop, it kind of is. Thanks for the input though guys. Does the SC440 have the same features as SC260?
Ricky Truong The only difference I can think of right now is Hertz and DC Amps are not available on the 260. I don’t know if you guys have a Johnstone up in Ontario, but here in Las Vegas, those 260 meters are currently on sale all month for $109 USD.
Expect a lot of service calls from the refrigeration and AC related calls! Too bad you can't film every service calls.
I dig it 👍🏼
8:02 Sneezes Lol!!!!
Coil contactor shorted
Great video, keep m coming greetings from the Netherlands 🙏✌️
Break out the meter and start ohming to ground my man. Our meters have much better eyes then we do.
Super Chingon Brother.
Any way you can message me bro ? 25 year old tech been in the game commercial and residential. Got some weird politics going want your opinion.
#122 thumbs uP
