- JK Rowling has slammed the BBC for its "shameful record" on gender issues after appointing a man who dismissed concerns about trans women in female sports to head its sports coverage.
The Harry Potter author said it was “utterly predictable” that Alex Kay-Jelski, the new director of sport, had downplayed fears raised by sports icons like Martina Navratilova about biological men competing in women's categories.
Kay-Jelski, hired by the BBC in April, has come under fire for a controversial column he wrote for The Times in 2019, where he was the sports editor. In the column, he claimed Navratilova, one of the greatest tennis players ever, and Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies were “not experts” on trans participation in sports.
Both Navratilova and Davies have repeatedly voiced concerns over the fairness and safety of male-bodied trans athletes competing in female sports.
Kay-Jelski even went as far as to compare those who see trans athletes as “threatening” to racists warning, “don’t let black men in the same shops as you or they’ll rape your women.”

Serena Williams, arguably the greatest female tennis player of all time, lost an exhibition match against a male ranked 203rd in the world rankings.
Men and women are biologically different. It isn't bigoted or transphobic to point this out. It is a basic scientific fact.
She stated in an interview (Serena) that she would easily be beaten by a low ranking male tennis player purely out of physical differences of male and female.

How can they say Sharon is racist? Such a joke! She was married to a black guy! How is that racist? Men are different physically. If you look at a male skeleton it has obvious differences. Larger, more pronounced brow ridges than women. Women's pelvic area are very different from men's. Women's skeletons are more gracile than men', any osteo- archaeologist or anatomist will confirm that.

It's already happened 3 times to my knowledge, a woman's skull was fractured in mma, an even in USA female basketball an even volleyball, all injured by men who like to wear dresses.
They have, for example in MMA Fallon Fox broke two females skulls.

We have an Olympic games for handicapped people, as it is generally accepted that it would be unfair for them to compete against able bodied athletes, so what I therefore propose is that we have an Olympic games for Trans athletes so that they can compete fairly between themselves while leaving biological women free to do the same ?

It used to be that the head of sports at the BBC would be against athletes taking drugs so they can compete but this one is all for it. If a woman was using high levels of hormones she would not be allowed to compete against other women. Why are trans-women allowed to do so?

I find it unbelievable that some of the appropriate sports' governing boards still permit biologically male transgender athletes to perform in women's sport, thus putting female (XX) athletes at risk.

Women's sport has taken decades, if not centuries, to try to achieve some sort of parity with men's sport in terms of how it is valued, and given exposure, as entertainment. The irony of transwomen, eg men, invading it and claiming it for their own now that it is at the point of actually being a lucrative and creditable career option for the participants, due to the often unrecognised sporting achievements of the WOMEN who went before, is unbelievable.
