Just to add HO 004 is 1 of 3 XAGT’s taken off the production line and prepared for Allan Moffat at Mahoney's road. The compliance plate isn’t stamped as a HO.

At least Chrysler Australia got there supercar out the door a few days before the newspaper article.
    The mighty
1972 VH Valiant Charger E49 with 11 purpose build Bathurst Specials.
A good friend of mine owned the only Lime Green one build years ago.
There was never going to be a
340 / 4 speed Charger build for the race track way too heavy on the nose.
Considering a Balaced & Blue printed 265 cubic inch , 6 cylinder Hemi with triple Webbers was rumoured to be pushing 335 hp.
Better than anything Chrysler USA could build.
The only Mopar engine in history factory rated road registered to push way more than 1 hp per cubic inch.
    Cheers
    Louis Kats 👍
Real Shame the Phase IV never made it.
The XA looks 100 more beautiful than the boxy XY by a country mile.
Once the XA Hardtop's were released there was going to be a Phase V.
    Real Shame

Saw an interesting video the other day about the Charger 6...an abandoned project TRUCK Engine that Chrysler US couldn't get to work properly...So Aussie Chrysler got them to send over the prototype and fixed all the issues

but those 340 Valiants they were testing were way quicker in a straight line than the hemi 6,
ford xys couldn't keep up with the hemi 6, so the xa had no hope against a mopar v8
and im pretty sure the test vehicles were utes

@waddney4121 yes in a straight line etc but through the corners the V8 charger experience alot of under steer and scrub & prematurely go through tyres , yes maybe quicker but too many pit stops for tyres & fuel.
Hence the superiority of the Hemi.

Chrysler had better cars with better engines throughout the range, not just the charger.

The Govt threatened to not buy cars from any manufacturer that continued to build so called super cars, that's what killed off the Phase IV.

  • @scotttopen2750
    @scotttopen2750 10 днів тому +1

Ford Australia ended up selling the Phase 4’s to the public anyway. What happened was the Australian government said that if Ford proceeded to sell the Phase 4 they would stop buying their vehicles for government use. The manufacture of cars for the government was worth more money than 300 phase 4s. So anyway Ford Australia had this massive stockpile of engines, gearboxes, diffs basically they’d had everything to go. The green calypso XAGTHO featured in your video is the only production model with the compliance plate stamped as a phase 4. So anyway Ford passed the phase 4 out the door discretely as REPO 83.
Re production Option 83. The compliance plate is stamped as XAGT REPO 83. As for the 300 sets of Bathurst Globe rims they were sold to Phase 3 owners, practically given away.

Where did you find the information on these cars , because we take great pride of our Aussie Cars here in Australia and any miss information will cause a lot of backlash . supposal the journalist who actually started the article was secretly working for Holden according to Allan Moffett . There are cars these days that have more horsepower then of days of old . These cars started the horsepower craze starting with the Ford XR GT back in 1967 . I would love to really upgrade my personal Subaru Outback with 550 horsepower with all the goodies from the front to the back .

Your script seems to be Ai generated. It is very repetitive
You repeat the full name of the car all the time. In Australia we would say the full name over or twice then refer to it as " the phase 4".
Maybe before doing any more videos on Australian cars do some real research on Australian culture and Australian cars.
Sorry to be so harsh but I'm not a fan of Ai generated content.

It was only something like 10 or 12 hp more than the Phase 3 at something like 350-380hp, it wasn't 'so powerful it was going to rewrite the rules'.
Considering the Sport Sedan version were in the 600hp range.
That headline didn't stop factory development of race cars, all it did was stop Ford from developing race cars leaving all the glory to Holden for the next 15 years, with basically 2 years of luck, and 2 years of outstanding driving and/or development by Ford privateers.
Yeah, sure Peter Brock could drive, but he was also the only one on the grid with a 'Racing Budget'. Allan Moffett couldn't even get a set of spark plugs from Ford, and Dick Johnson was a one man race team who built the car under his house from an old decommissioned cop car and got a couple of mates to change tyres on Bathurst weekend, no help from the factory.
