I can put it into words. Lou was trying to straiten out. He was hideously grouchy about being sober. He was a legendary asshole to all media he talked to. Yet his creative drive kept goin and this record is pretty good.
Not reqd... the New York Loft produced this Masterpiece...without the influence of the other Master John Cale..this is Lou reed Pure Poet..this is his Jack Kerouac Moment.....
Lou's deadpan, intimate and confessional delivery is beautiful on this song. I love his narrative of his bike ride. It gathers so much momentum and like a lot of his lyrics it seems really trivial but is actually very powerful.
Fernando Saunders is one of my favourite bass players, I have been trying to emulate his style for a long time, his ability to play so melodically while at the same time keep something of an ostinato going, and on a fretless bass of all things, is just so awe inspiring
@@NormAppleton I envy myself. I wish the people I loved to go see in concert were still here. But I think I meant to write “one of my favorite songs” because my very favorite Lou Reed song is - and has been since this album was released - Fly Into the Sun. I never heard him sing this live and I only found one version on line, but that was years ago and I didn’t notate where/when. I’ll have to embark on a “Lou Reed in concert” journey. Thank you very much for the memory trigger, and may you and your loved ones have a happy and healthy new year.
It's a physical experience but with another meaning that derives from that beautiful and visceral reality of riding a cool motorcyle, including the hillbilly folks that sound like they are just living their reality. It's a big deal because the chorus and the synth toward the end are confirming to me it's about American Freedom, etc- of traveling on a machine to confirm that there is an ultimate albeit low key truth worth venturing out to see. And I like it!

Genial canción del maestro Lou. Siempre con nuevos y originales matices líricos y musicales que engrandecen el rock. Canción tremendamente madura. Una maravilla. Aupaaa Lou! Great song from Master Lou. Always enlarging rock with new and original lyrical and musical nuances. Amazingly mature song. Definitely a wonder. Keep riding on Lou!

I've often thought how great this record is... almost a forgotten piece of Lou's legacy. The drum machine sounds make me cringe at times, but I guess Lou was messing around with us (yet again) showing that the digital age was coming to fruition, whether we like it or not.
I don't know why Lou Reed would think this was something we needed him to show us, but also, that's not a drum machine, although I guess it's supposed to sound like one, yeah. I do really like the song though.
I know what you mean about the drum machine, but you're gonna just have to take your purist side out for an afternoon spa session and just enjoy what you rightly described as an almost forgotten piece of work. Well it was the eighties. Lol.😂
I would like to thank everybody, that had a GPZ, or similar, between they're thighs..I don't think a burger and Coke person, would be so passionate,,,I already know I'm wrong..im joking...Unbelievable Classic..just discovered....

It just feels right
So cool as he rolls off those words in a rhythmic rap to that awesome music, bass line and backing vocals from those angels. It's so uplifting

It's a story about a man and his Kawasaki gPz

That bass...
Agreed, the bass is real dope on this track.

I always wanted a GPZ, I'm alive today because I never got one.
When I was young and wanted to die. Gpz's were what I loved. Never did die by mortorcycle
I had a burger and a Coke today, and though I wasn’t on my motorcycle, I thought of this song. Owned a GPz back in the 80s.
GPz's were pure and honest
Born on this day(March 2) the late, great Lou Reed. Love this song and album. Cheers!
