Lyrics:
I don't like guilt be it stoned or stupid
Drunk and disorderly I ain't no cupid
Two years ago today I was arrested on Christmas Eve
I don't want pain, I want to walk not be carried
I don't want to give it up, I want to stay married
I ain't no dog tied to a parked car
Ooohhh, new sensations
Ooohhh, new sensations
Talkin' 'bout some new sensations
Talkin' 'bout some new sensations
I want the principles of a timeless muse
I want to eradicate my negative views
And get rid of those people who are always on a down
It's easy enough to tell what is wrong
But that's not what I want to hear all night long
Some people are like human tuinals
Ooohhh, new sensations
Ooohhh, ooohhh, new sensations
Talkin' 'bout some new sensations
Talkin' a new sensations
I took my GPZ out for a ride
The engine felt good between my thighs
The air felt cool, it's was forty degrees outside
I rode to Pennsylvania near the Delaware Gap
Sometimes I got lost and had to check the map
I stopped at a roadside diner for a burger and a coke
There were some country folk and some hunters inside
Somebody got themselves married and somebody died
I went to the juke box and played a hillbilly song
They was arguing about football as I waved and went outside
And I headed for the mountains feeling warm inside
I love that GPZ so much, you know that I could kiss her
Ooohhh, new sensations
Ooohhh, ooohhh, new sensations
Talkin' 'bout your new sensations
Talkin' new sensations
Ooohhh, new sensations
Ooohhh, new sensations
Ooohhh, new sensations
Ooohhh, new sensations
Ooohhh, new sensations

An underrated classic
Great song. About to grab a burger and coke now
That bass...
Agreed, the bass is real dope on this track.
Stole my comment
Fernando Saunders is one of my favourite bass players, I have been trying to emulate his style for a long time, his ability to play so melodically while at the same time keep something of an ostinato going, and on a fretless bass of all things, is just so awe inspiring
Fernando, yeah he is great.
Anyone have the tab?
You get a feeling from listening to this song and the album that is hard to put into words...
The human tuinal he's talking about is you
I can put it into words. Lou was trying to straiten out. He was hideously grouchy about being sober. He was a legendary asshole to all media he talked to. Yet his creative drive kept goin and this record is pretty good.
Not reqd... the New York Loft produced this Masterpiece...without the influence of the other Master John Cale..this is Lou reed Pure Poet..this is his Jack Kerouac Moment.....
It's easy to put into words, straight up cool vibe. That wasn't hard was it?
It just feels right
This song NEVER grows old.
So cool as he rolls off those words in a rhythmic rap to that awesome music, bass line and backing vocals from those angels. It's so uplifting
My new favorite Lou Reed song
Mine too :)
Hard to pick a favorite. So many legendary songs. What a brilliant artist
Definitely!
It's really close because this record mattered in my youth. It still means so much.
What if Lou Reed have a tune for these riotous times?
ua-cam.com/video/sBkKAuqAwWU/v-deo.html
I had a burger and a Coke today, and though I wasn’t on my motorcycle, I thought of this song. Owned a GPz back in the 80s.
GPz's were pure and honest
Lou's deadpan, intimate and confessional delivery is beautiful on this song. I love his narrative of his bike ride. It gathers so much momentum and like a lot of his lyrics it seems really trivial but is actually very powerful.
It's a story about a man and his Kawasaki gPz
One of the great motorcycle songs
DC2Ams yep had a GPZ and rode it with this song in my mind, many, many years ago.
Try Bottoming Out from Legendary Hearts
I swear I live waiting for those few seconds when my life will feel like that bass line…and I KNOW THAT THAT ONE DAY WILL COME !
I hear ya
fretless
My favorite Lou Reed song on a wonderful album. Saw him so many times from early on (one of the perks of being a New Yorker). I miss him every day.
I envy you
@@NormAppleton I envy myself. I wish the people I loved to go see in concert were still here. But I think I meant to write “one of my favorite songs” because my very favorite Lou Reed song is - and has been since this album was released - Fly Into the Sun. I never heard him sing this live and I only found one version on line, but that was years ago and I didn’t notate where/when. I’ll have to embark on a “Lou Reed in concert” journey. Thank you very much for the memory trigger, and may you and your loved ones have a happy and healthy new year.
Yeah

I love this song. Made me live everyday
Back in 1984 we dealt with Fernando
Lou and bowie❤
No bowie here
If you are down in the dumps, this song will cheer you up. Good for You, Uncle Lou.
Killer Bass!
Fernando Saunders
My favorite recovery song
Paul Day yes! I was first introduced to this song the year I got sober 1986
I was just thinking that! I bought this album in the 80's, I wasn't looking at it that way at the time, but now it all makes sense. #happytobesober
Be Happy
“And get rid of those people who are always on a down “ I love ❤️ LR
Some people are like Human Tuinals!! Equal to 4 Qualudes!!!
Like you? Seems to me you are about yourself.
Lou Reed Rocks.
Dreamy guitar parts
Such a great song. Sometimes I take long drives just to get lost.
I do that too 😊 this is going on my spotify
New sensations
Loved every song on this album. Drove my parents crazy listening to it.
So Peacefully
It's a great vibe
It's a physical experience but with another meaning that derives from that beautiful and visceral reality of riding a cool motorcyle, including the hillbilly folks that sound like they are just living their reality. It's a big deal because the chorus and the synth toward the end are confirming to me it's about American Freedom, etc- of traveling on a machine to confirm that there is an ultimate albeit low key truth worth venturing out to see. And I like it!
Well said & appreciate that you understood the American Freedom sound (& feeling on a bike) metaphor that I took from this. Then, looking at your username made me realize that you are one who read & actually understand my favorite book LoL. Awesome & appreciated. ~
A forgotton one. Used to play this in the car all the time. Love it👍
What a way to end Red Oaks! Love, Love, Love Lou Reed!!!!
The credits are still rolling and I am going to miss all of my summer time friends.
RIP Lou and Red Oaks.
How have I never heard of this before?
bddddrrr!!!
i used to think this song is waaaaaay under rated but then I thought as long as I really enjoy it, does it really matter?
No
It's their loss
Lou chose the first production bike model to do 150 mph out of the crate . it was only sport bike to be manufactured virtually unchanged for 2 decades . 1984 Kawasaki GPZ900 Ninja . hottest looking bike ever , featured in Top Gun and at least two rock videos . the first of all liquid cooled inline four superbikes .
I always wanted a GPZ, I'm alive today because I never got one.
When I was young and wanted to die. Gpz's were what I loved. Never did die by mortorcycle
Takes me back to when I worked a delivering calor gas (butane/propane) when I was supposed to be at school (30 odd year ago). Cutting about Glasgow, Scotland with Big Mick, smoking a spliff and occasionally having to avoid getting robbed.... great learning curve, learnt a lot - good times!!
That's the 80's pure raw sensation
and I live here, the land of new sensations !
Born on this day(March 2) the late, great Lou Reed. Love this song and album. Cheers!
Lou's BEST Album....in my humble OP!
Listened to this album for the first time as I found it at a record store and I really dig it!
It's close between NS and Transformer...
No, but a great one
@@NormAppleton Yes "R & R Animal" is Great too!
Cool song....Elegant voice so class.
My Song... It's just perfect. Love u Lou.
Even an average Lou Reed song is beautiful because Lou Reed is singing on it.
Love u brother couldn't put on my site but you ROCK

I miss you man you always know how to change my mood with pure soul rock.I.P lou
i got this when it first came out and i thought it was a perfect album and no one got my vibe they wanted walk on the wild side . i was no just listen to the power of the beat with words
I loved this record.
Headed for the mountains feelin warm inside ,too cool .
Free spirit!
Always makes me feel like I'm on my favorite motorcycle!
What?
Big Lou!
Lou Reed likes this album best.
He has been listened to most since his Velvet Underground days.
But many people don't know him very well.
i can see why! he's really on here!
I like the way he says "Coke."
What if Lou Reed had a riotous tune for these times?
ua-cam.com/video/sBkKAuqAwWU/v-deo.html
This was my running song. The entire album was great 👍👍👍
Lou Reed rules!
This song means a lot to me
Thanks Lou you were a fantastic artist !
Che meraviglia che sei Lou uso il presente perche' per un artista si puo' visto che resta nella storia!!!
...I love LOU.
Been out near Blairstown NJ with my Dad. I never knew Lou lived there at the time. I miss Lou so much.
great album it was - always thought this woulda make a great video with Lou riding his bike
just perfect ....
This is Lou kind of saying despite all that went before he's is finally appreciating being just a regular guy....
He backed off from that fast
He's just an average guy.
@@NormAppleton explain?
@@wartimemodels Hr allowed himself to enjoy just being himself. This probably is the first song after a 16 year career that Lou takes on an enjoyable weekend trip. No rock star, no burden...just a guy riding his mortorcycle and loving every minute of it.
@@NormAppleton so you’re agreeing with the original comment in this thread? I read your response as saying that he went in the opposite direction after this song.
Gosh did I love ❤️ this album still do
Come away with a real film /geography/history lesson in you head after Lou's lyrics/songwriting GENIUS storyteller/poet 😁👍
Sublime
I listened to the song, then I headed for the mountains feeling warm inside...
It's amazing what a clean upload can do for a song, awesome!
Lordy!... I've just watched the jam with Mellencamp video... IM SOOO HAPPY!!
Genial canción del maestro Lou. Siempre con nuevos y originales matices líricos y musicales que engrandecen el rock. Canción tremendamente madura. Una maravilla. Aupaaa Lou!
Great song from Master Lou. Always enlarging rock with new and original lyrical and musical nuances. Amazingly mature song. Definitely a wonder. Keep riding on Lou!
i never followed Lue much but this is really an example of a great tune

The bassman is God.
1984 my first time in USA travelling with ho all' the time
The last thing he was coolly sarcastic about was his own coolness itself.
his best
I have to thank my friend Christy for this one, its nearly perfect...x
The only way that it could be perfect is if it never ended I'm sure
Yeah, buy her dinner

Driving at night on the motorway song
hell fuckin yeah
Oh yes...just perfect for that.
Yep nailed it
more of a driving on a country road on a clear day song.
I've often thought how great this record is... almost a forgotten piece of Lou's legacy. The drum machine sounds make me cringe at times, but I guess Lou was messing around with us (yet again) showing that the digital age was coming to fruition, whether we like it or not.
I don't know why Lou Reed would think this was something we needed him to show us, but also, that's not a drum machine, although I guess it's supposed to sound like one, yeah.
I do really like the song though.
Drum machine be damned. This is all about Fernando Saunders.
I know what you mean about the drum machine, but you're gonna just have to take your purist side out for an afternoon spa session and just enjoy what you rightly described as an almost forgotten piece of work. Well it was the eighties. Lol.😂
That sounds awesome mate.
How good of condition do you rate her ? @@hankbellamy
The drum machine is great.
This is similar to Donald Fagen Nightfly
Fernando saunders marvelous job
Lou and Leonard Cohen are kinda similar -except Lou rocked a lot more

"Two years ago today I was arrested on Christmas Eve"
I really like this song, but that line doesn't work at all.
Yeah it makes perfect sense in the Lou Reed world ;)
But the lyrics: I don't want to give it up, I want to stay married
I ain't no dog tied to a parked car.
Is wrong, it should say; I dont want to stay married, i guess its a misprint check out his live shows, he always sing; I dont want to stay married.
He's such a great lyricist

It’s never too late to discover a master. You’ll be as sad as me, though, thinking we’ll never be able to listen to him live or to talk to him and shake his hand and giving thanks to him for everything he left us. A great man, an absolute artist.
