My Tutor at Radio and TV School told us we had to rehearse our scripts 40 times before going on air LIVE.
This was so we didn't stumble or sound stilted.
Sometimes I didn't have to look at the script because I knew what was coming up.
The 40 rehearsals then allowed me to 'ad lib' and embellish the script because I was in control of the subject.
This training also enhanced other areas of my professional life.
