  • The Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge contains numerous seabird nesting islands, which are home to Atlantic Puffins, Razorbills, Common Murres, and Black Guillemots. Common, Arctic and Roseate Terns nest with them. Plus, the refuge offers good mainland trails for great birding.

At some point I definitely come to Main to see this with my own eyes. Thanks for the video.

I live in Connecticut but have been to Maine 3 times because I LOVE MAINE ❤ I've been to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park but I'll have to take one of those excursions on my next visit. Great job on recording the puffins and warblers Bob 😊👍

I still guide a little, mostly for three of Maine's birding festivals, and occasionally for Schoodic Institute. As for the videos, thanks! I do it mostly to amuse myself.

It all started innocently. I just traveled around Maine for many years, and everywhere I went, I thought to myself, "Hey, this is WAY cool."

I have a lot of fun making them. I'm probably more amused than anyone.

Is that a mature tamarack in the background?? 🌲 Only Bob could so low key nab Maine’s iconic deciduous conifer (with its Algonquian etymology!) in the backdrop of his black-throated green warbler shot 👏

One of my favorite things is when all the tamaracks turn gold in autumn - the last splash of color before winter.

We are heading to Maine in a week! We can't wait to take the kids to see the puffins! I'm also hoping to get as close to them as we can to get some good pictures! The shot you had of them on the rocks at the beginning of the video was awesome what cruise was that shot off of and what island?

You can get within arm's reach of puffins in the blinds on Machias Seal Island, but that trip sells out very early in the season. Probably the closest by boat is at Petit Manan with Acadia Puffin Cruise. Isle au Ferry gets just about as close at Seal Island. (In fact, I'll be on board next Wednesday as the spotter/naturalist.) Closeness often depends on tide and weather. Where are you going to be in Maine?

@@Bob_Duchesne Look forward to seeing you on the boat! My wife, three kids, my mom and I will be on that tour! I rented a lens and a teleconverter in hope of getting some beautiful photos!
