Valentina, you're a jewel for music! I'm so glad for knowing you and your music. You are the best pianist I have ever seen playing. I saw you playing for Pianiassimo on September, 23, 2018, in Joinville, SC, Brazil. I was there and will never forget! 🎶❤❤❤❤
I've seen this before this call tag is not very representative of Valentina Lisitsa she used that as a way to say about difficulty and challenging Rachmaninov music please change the title to respect Valentina Lisitsa and Rachmaninov
Those two excerpts are from the second and third piano concertos, and if you aren't familiar with them, get ready for your life to change. Those are two of the greatest pieces of music on earth. There's a funny sketch about English like this :) rutube.ru/video/7c806393a9705797d7e92c4a05493d5d/ But it's important and wonderful that Music does not need to be translated. And she plays perfect.

I turned on the subtitles and the computer recognized her English speech as Russian, and started to write abracadabra :) Yes she has a strong typical Russian accent, although she is Ukrainian. But it doesn't matter, because Russians and Ukrainians are the same people.

You're the ones who are wrong here, not Valentina. I'd like to see you try to speak ukrainian perfectly lmao... or portuguese. Valentina you're awesome.
You hit the nail on the head. I've been married to a lovely Ukrainian woman for 14 wonderful years and still love listening to her beautiful accent every day. You're so right about English speakers (Americans particularly) who can't understand ANYone who has the slightest accent or pronunciation that differs from what they are accustomed to. Monolingual morons I call them. And thank you for making the distinction that Valentina is Ukrainian, NOT Russian, and is NOT speaking with a Russian accent. Valentina, your interpretations of Rachmaninoff are the best I have ever heard. I have compared dozens of recordings, especially of his 2nd piano concerto, but yours is the one that really touched my heart. Thank you so much!!! 😘
Rachmaninoff... the most loved and hated composer, maybe because his music is so difficult in so diferent ways... to listen it, to interpretate, comprehension and more...you have an amazing way to see his music, as a pianist i agree with you.
So Rachmaninoff is basically the Super Smash Bros. of classical music: It's cool to play it casually, and everyone loves it... but it's a horrible pain in the ass to play it in competitons/tournaments.

Try to not take it personally; in my own style i wanted to say: Please, see it from the perspective of a lady, when she's told "Oh, you look preggers, today!" ... hm... ("Thank you sir")?
When I went to college for music, I would often feel something similar - I didn't want to work on pieces I actually loved in that setting, because the process would kill some of that love. I wanted those pieces to remain 'pure'. I would rather work on something technical I can be dispassionate about. It's also true that pieces I love get me inspired to go off into wilder interpretations, and hearing "stop being so into that piece and follow the 'rules'," is something that will make you hate the process.
Im a young child who plays piano, and I love the guy! I played his easy Bumblebee and that caught my ear, and when i played his amazing Prelude in g minor I became obsessed with the guy. Im hoping to learn his Prelude in C# Minor soon!
Valentina Lisitsa, I've just encountered this marvelous pianist through another youtube video: Tchaikovsky "June" Barcarolle. I can't stop watching/listenning to her pieces since then. Thanks to this video, the way she speakes instantly pleased me. too; what she says about music and alll that interests me so much. A great artist and an infinitely lovely person. (Certainly, I'm getting her DVD live.)
Two per cent? You are interpreting at 125 per cent! Rachy could not touch those ivories lighter or faster than you. Granted, he was an excellent technician, but you blow him away! This is sheer beauty, executed with perfection - nothing less!
Dave Kent No, i did not misread your comment, but you do not understand the concept, the accent is not English, she is speaking English with a Ukrainian ACCENT.
Why do you use the title "i hate Rachmaninoff" for this movie while in fact she sais that she loves rachmaninoff!!? What is this idiocracy! What is this almost brainwashed like obsession with making things to appear fearful or negative or amphisizing that parts only? Just for views or being popular amongst people you've never met or who you dont know? I like valentina. Love her openess...
we in America Need to learn that freedom to play video games has a cost and then you are not really free. if our youth would spend more time learning a musical Instrument there would be less time getting into trouble with the law or with sex. we in America have the freedom to learn and love what we do and it will come out in our ability to play our instruments well. Forced to play well will never compete with natural ability to play well. i believe if V.L learned in the USA and majored in Piano in a top notch school like Harvard or Julliard she would Love to play Rachmaninoff and enjoy playing it. I dont hate most Classical artist I hate that I cannot play them because of a learning disablilty. now they have new methods of learning music. I am willing to try but I am not young anymore and wasted time thinking what could have been. Valentina Listsa I love all your Music Playing and ability to interpret what the composer had in mind how to play it. hate or love it just keep the Good Hard Work I dont care what country good music comes from I love the ability to listen to it. German, Russian, Hungary or Poland I love them all.
Fred Ellsworth What's the point to be polite to a musician if you don't like his playing? He spent years composing the concert and then let record it to a bad pianist just to be polite? Rachmaninoff attended to Horowitz concert and subsequently support his career. He let Horowitz premiere and even revise some of his work. It doesn't make any sense just to be polite... Horowitz studied and played his 3rd concerto for 50 years. I think he has a deep understanding of this work. Maybe he fails a lot of notes but for me he is one of the best performers of this concerto as well as Valentina (just my opinion)
I agree with her. Music and great composition are not about the complexity of the piece, but about the emotion conveyed to the listener. Music is emotion in tangible form. If you cannot relate the emotion, then the composer has failed their purpose.
Lol I am from germany, still in school and I understood every word xD you really have to get rid of ear wax I guess. Maybe you might like the music even more :D

Я думал что так никто не разговаривает кроме Курочкина,и Бэдкамедианта,который породирует Курочкина.
Мутко
Her blue eyes & accent make me melt ~
I love her playing so much. The most brilliant pianist
Валя, не ломай язык. Твои руки лучше всяких переводов. Люблю тебя, взял классику CD. Слушаю и душа отдыхает. Классику ненавижу ))
Wait a minute...Is this an April fools joke?
yep
The real question is: are you?
Dirty Competition Hands Hahahaha
You should hear this lady playing Charles Ives Sonatas with Hilary Hahn! ...SUBLIME! She plays a mean game of chess too!
+Mick Dunn ....looks like she is preggers in this vid...
and you look a hundred and two...
+Eric Paroissien That's just rude bro
So you have no idea why i wrote that? Ask your girlfriend or your mom.
Try to not take it personally; in my own style i wanted to say: Please, see it from the perspective of a lady, when she's told "Oh, you look preggers, today!" ... hm... ("Thank you sir")?
His accent is so strange that the subtitles are in Russian!
When I went to college for music, I would often feel something similar - I didn't want to work on pieces I actually loved in that setting, because the process would kill some of that love. I wanted those pieces to remain 'pure'. I would rather work on something technical I can be dispassionate about. It's also true that pieces I love get me inspired to go off into wilder interpretations, and hearing "stop being so into that piece and follow the 'rules'," is something that will make you hate the process.
russian accent is absolutely better than indian accent .S
Im a young child who plays piano, and I love the guy! I played his easy Bumblebee and that caught my ear, and when i played his amazing Prelude in g minor I became obsessed with the guy. Im hoping to learn his Prelude in C# Minor soon!
+Yamik Bumblebee is Rimskij Korsakow..........
+Adam Glinka The orchestra is Rimskiy, but the piano transposition is by Rachmaninoff.
Yamik oh, i have it played too! How do you do with it?
R-U-K-H-M-A-I-Y-E-E-N-Y-E-E-N-W-O-F-F !!!!!
its very interesting to hear english with russian accent...
Rachy is a very tacky talk. It is Mr. Rachmaninoff.
She like Beef Stroginoff
clickbait
April 1st.
Zeta Zuliani April 1st, yes it is, how did you know?
ahahahahahhaahahahahahaha you fucking made my night with that comment
it is good joke yes?
@@Parlamour1 it.... is....
1:51 rachmaninoff's songs hits different
I dont know if i like more the music she plays at piano, or the music she makes by her gorgeous english accent. Its a pleasure hear she talks.
Diego Portabales That is hardly an English accent.
Alan Hall he meant her accent in English. it was pretty obvious.
Dave Kent No, her accent is Ukrainian, not English. She speaks English with a thick Ukrainian accent.
Alan Hall Mate, "accent in English" means accent whilst speaking English. Did you misread my comment?
Dave Kent No, i did not misread your comment, but you do not understand the concept, the accent is not English, she is speaking English with a Ukrainian ACCENT.
Why do you use the title "i hate Rachmaninoff" for this movie while in fact she sais that she loves rachmaninoff!!? What is this idiocracy! What is this almost brainwashed like obsession with making things to appear fearful or negative or amphisizing that parts only? Just for views or being popular amongst people you've never met or who you dont know?
I like valentina. Love her openess...
Валечка!Где тебя можно услышать на русском? )))
I thought she was German or Austrian. Whatever no problemo. I don't listen Rachmaninov.
she got a pretty face.
***** UA-cam comments. Cancer as usual.
what is this
please stop omfg
El M HAHAHAAGA
My favorite composer is also Rachmaninoff, probably the only thing me and Valentina have in common
Latest James Bond villain ?
we in America Need to learn that freedom to play video games has a cost and then you are not really free. if our youth would spend more time learning a musical Instrument there would be less time getting into trouble with the law or with sex. we in America have the freedom to learn and love what we do and it will come out in our ability to play our instruments well.
I still prefer Vladimir Horowitz playing Rachmaninoff over anyone else
What about Ashkenazy and Richter?
Well, IMO since Horowitz grew up being friends with Rachmaninoff...premiered many of his works, the two obviously have some commonalities
Bosco Han I think Rachmaninoff's affection for and comments about Horowitz sprung from a need to be polite, best case.
Maybe he fails a lot of notes but for me he is one of the best performers of this concerto as well as Valentina (just my opinion)
walter728 Most of the points you mentioned were already in the thread and available elsewhere. I stand by my opinion. Thanks for your thoughts.
I agree with her. Music and great composition are not about the complexity of the piece, but about the emotion conveyed to the listener. Music is emotion in tangible form. If you cannot relate the emotion, then the composer has failed their purpose.
играет она лучше, чем говорит на английском
I knew of course that she doesn't hate Rachmaninoff, and the headline was a trick to get us to click, but I clicked anyway!
I wished they had cc in English, I can hardly understand with her heavy accent. She is so amazing!
listen couple more times & u'll understand)))
No.
Have a Russian music teacher for 15 years, and it'll be nothing XD
Lol I am from germany, still in school and I understood every word xD you really have to get rid of ear wax I guess. Maybe you might like the music even more :D
I can't understand a single word lol
