If we were never colonized we’d eventually develop our culture to the point where any (Western) colonization with the point of assimilation and erasing our culture would fail. This is the case with India, Iran, Bangladesh, China, Japan, Korea, the Arab world, etc.
Most importantly though, the Spanish-brought patronage culture, corruption, and Catholicism would’ve never taken root and become major reasons the nation is slower in progress.
