My dad had one of those. He bought it from an old lady in the summer of 1970 so it was 15 years old and I was 8. It had been garage kept for its whole 15 years and never driven all that much. Back then old people didn't drive if they didn't actually need to. She lived near the center of town and there were neighborhood grocery stores in town within walking distance of everyone. To make a long story short, the car was practically in new condition, inside and out. I think it was light blue, light green, or aqua (been a long time). Right after he bought it he and I took it to the city park to wash and wax it. All that chrome really shined when we were done. He kept it for maybe 1½ year. I can tell you that it was hard to find totally rust free 15 year old cars back then before undercoating was a thing and they used salt on the roads in the winter. I remember we'd go for long Saturday and Sunday afternoon drives in the country as a family and get compliments on that car's like new condition. I don't remember which engine or tranny it had, or any other features. "Chips-ahoy Savoy" I like that!
Awesome to hear the old story! This one will probably keep the patina look but fix the massive rust holes. Brandi isnt excited about Chips ahoy Savoy for the name. But shr has taken a liking to Chip for short.
