But I can tell white americans cannot do anything with reggae music - Jamaicans may mess it up but they can evolve. white people cannot evolve the music as it is repackaged - so it will just fizzle out in their hands. Sting started off as reggae singer but what could he do with reggae after a few years. So he ended up leaving it. UB40 has remained loyal to reggae but were not able to evolve it and pass it onto a next generation.

Yes like BTS and KPOP is influenced by RNB and Hip Hop this band is influenced by Jmaican reggae but are not Jmaican reggae . Sting was singing reggae in the 80s in the UK and that was his genre - could not evolve it so left the Genre. UB40 is a reggae band from the 80s but could not evolves. Any time I have to get updated reggae - I have to look to Jamaica, The UK has had white reggae for 50 years and it goes nowhere , We have had to look to Jamaica when we want to update and refresh it. This band is equivalent of KPOP - it is not a organic journey . It is just repackaged music. It cant go anywhere. And that is why UK reggae never progressed because you take something from one culture and play it for a different audience but because it is repackaged and not created by you - it has nowhere to go. It just stays the same. I am from the UK so we have had our fair of white reggae artistes but they never have a next generation - once they stop thats it. Whereas Jamaica the music can evolve - for good or bad. But it cant evolve without it being yours

I also grew up with white people singing reggae in the UK and they sounded like white people singing reggae. I have found some really good reggae songs from Thai and Chinese artistes. But they sing as themselves - these guys white dudes with zero connection to Jamaica with silly accents is embarrasing. Even UB40 white members didnt wear dreads back in the 80s/90s as they did not pretend to black or rastas. They had black rastas in the group and they had normal regional accents . And I dont love UB40 but they are at least authentic. They will become to reggae what Vanilla Ice is to rap for winning.

It's like a being at a Native American Pow Wow and seeing Caucasians wearing their beautiful outfits and their dancing to their rituals cuz they have 2 percent of indigenous in them.
