Sorry everyone, sound somehow disconnected from the video and has a lag towards the later part of the video. Unfortunately, I can’t edit. I know it’s annoying to watch my mouth move differently from the words coming out 😅
I have seen this happen on professional news programs so this issue isn't that uncommon. Don't sweat the small stuff, your presentation was smart, concise and full of excellent content.
Only 16 mins in, but wanted to make sure I actually leave a comment this time to let you know how much I appreciate your videos and especially this one! 🙏 *I'm glad you brought up the seeder! Good to point out.
Thank you for such a great analysis, Jesse. I am so glad you got to take a small break from work. You have so much that you are doing. Especially learning all the medical information as well. Praying for sweet E.
You are a gift. I've been watching your videos for a couple years, and even though I only grow flowers for myself, with no plans to start a business, I find your discussions fascinating, and your personality delightful. I hope to join your patreon in 2025 to support you. Best wishes.
This is brilliant, thanks for sharing! I love how you can look beyond the blooms and really define what flower farming is, including it's limitations to scaling, etc. Wishing all the best to E and your family this next year❤
Great video, always learning something from your content. I love that you share the business side of flower farming. I myself am not a flower farmer, although I have pondered the idea. I believe that the business side shows the nuts and bolts of flower farming. Not just the sowing of seeds and watching stuff grow. Thank you again.
I hope you do make the leap to selling if that's what you really want! I want to distinguish that selling for a little side cash is very different than wanting to go into this and quitting your full time job. While the act of selling flowers brings on more stress than not, you can keep it small and test it out to see if it's something you want to pursue and grow :)
Wow, Jesse, this was such a plethora of high level information and incredible advice. You are amazing. I’m going to have to go back and watch again before I can comment. I’m just getting over a nasty stomach bug so I just now able to watch screens without getting queasy. 😂. So glad you and your family were able to have a wonderful Christmas. I also have to comment that E is very lucky to have a canine companion to help her on her healing journey. Animals can be some of the most talented healers. While I was sick my 3 dogs and 3 cats were all either surrounding or on the bed with me and it was so soothing to have their calm quiet comfort and concern. And of course my 9 year old daughter barely left my side (even when she was on FaceTime playing video games with her friends! 🤦♀️😂)
I just found you through one of my Facebook groups and so happy that I did! I will continue to watch your videos and look back on your previous ones. Can’t wait to see what else I can learn from you! And most of all, you have all my best wishes for your daughter’s complete recovery!
Excellent discussion on scale and infrastructure. 👌🏻 It’s never just more land, or just a bigger cooler. As soon as you scale up one area (ie: buy a high tunnel) the rest of your infrastructure must grow to compensate.
Thank you for another great video. I have heard you say this previously, but the part about how much business you make from the same group of loyal customers blows my mind. I also thought the discussion about what it takes to scale up was very informative too. My parents started a business on a part time basis doing screen printing of uniforms and t-shirts for school sports program. They started out in a pole barn and eventually ended up with a sporting goods/apparel store and a print shop. Each jump was as you described it. Lastly, I loved all the enthusiasm and joy E was showing at the end, while the pup kept on sleeping. Too cute!
So great that you got to see your parents build and scale a business to that level! I find it fascinating that all businesses share high level similarities, no matter what they're selling. I also found the revenue % from my most loyal customers mind blowing. One year for my soap company, I solely focused on increasing repeat purchase rates versus spending $ on new customers. I increased the repeat purchase rate by about 10% and literally increased the total business's revenue by 30% and spent way less $ in advertising. It really works! I think it's alot easier to do if you have an online shop because you can automate email flows, but at least the same concept applies to selling flowers in person!
Thank you so much for sharing your secrets on what one needs to take note when it comes to this business. I will be using your tips as I plan on my small orchid flower production space here in Brisbane, Australia.
My warning for credit cards is you MUST be able to pay the balance before the interest. if you know you are not able or good at doing this don't get into trouble, you don't need credit/credit cards to have a successful business.
100% agree that you should be able to pay the balance before the interest. But my point is that there are actually many flower farmers who COULD use a credit card to their farm's advantage but aren't because they don't understand how it can be used as an interest free loan. It's just a tool and like with most tools, you don't need it to be successful but why build a house with a hammer and saw when you can have power tools!
Once again great information! thank you! I have have followed you for years and I did your Facebook challenge-which was so helpful ! Do you have any more suggestions for good resources for marketing? I need to up my marketing game.
That's great to hear! Tell me a bit more about what kind of marketing resources you're looking for. There's so much marketing out there that if you can better define what it is exactly you're seeking to learn, I can definitely make recommendations!
@@bareflowerfarm I post daily on FB but I am not increasing my FB following. I need to learn more about FB algorithm & figure out how to increase my FB following. We sell through our on farm farm stand and are branching out to a new store opening in March so I need to drive sales to these markets.I need to figure out how to market and drive sales to these markets. I am a suburb of Charlotte NC & this area is presently growing fast and I feel like there is a good customer base, I just need to find them. I am presently selling an average of 15 bouquets on a weekend just through FB and next-door marketing. I have a few loyal customers. I have a website which customers can purchase bouquets and pick up onsite any day of the week but it is seldom used. I am considering paid FB ads this year & I also need to understand how to best make these work for me. Any resources in these areas would be great!
🌻 question.. if your product doesn't sell ...can't you mark product prices down to 0.02 cents and count it as a loss on your taxes? Therefore all lost flowers are a 0.02 cent cost per stem? Just a thought.🌻
I don't think you can do it from a tax perspective unless if that inventory was actually carried on your balance sheet. In that case, you would mark that inventory down as an impairment. I'm not an accountant (nor am I good at accounting) so I could be wrong!
Thanks for the analysis! I need some advice: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
Personally I’m not a fan of the debt conversation in the beginning. That’s not really relevant to the business. How a person starts the flower farm is irrelevant. Any business is a loss at first.
1:09:10 'the moment you decided you want money from that true passion/joy, you are turning it into a business, it's going to be a little different from before...' 🥲🥲🥲I literally had a break down the first week trying to sell three bouquets in total at my local cafe... I ran some numbers and were so discouraged by how profitable it actually can be with my tiny little plots to produce flowers and it seems impossible to replace my salary in the near future even if I take some drastic moves to gain more land and blablabla... While I naturally tend to ignore the practical/economical side of things and just want to enjoy my true passion, I really appreciate that Jessie you break down the money/marketing etc. all the sides that needs to be considered to run a successful business. Your content consitantly help me calibrate money hopes I've put onto my gardening hobby, which is very valuable!

no worry. the information you offer is generous and kind. Thank you
It's more of a listen, than a watch anyways!

You just eloquently said in much fewer words the point I was trying to get across! 😅
If I could pin 2 comments, I would pin this one too.
thank you for a fantastic course, I learned a lot - and watched to the end
Glad it was helpful!

Thanks so much for this amazing video Jessie. Totally agree with the Facebook groups! Too much free, unsolicited advice!

Yep, Not a good strategy until you are actually generating revenue vs when you are getting started and haven’t grown or sold anything yet.
Love love love it
Thank for maki g these informative videos

I feel its an opportunity when someone comes to you with feedback. I would prefer they came to me with a problem than just never buy from me again
love you
I laughed when you spoke about ordering because it’s so true…..seriously whyyyy???? haha
Haha you know it!!

Heirloom chrysanthemums. And orach.
It sounds like you have to go through reps because their sales model is set up on commission.
