- In this video I turned a Female figurine out of Maple and Oak. She is 14" at the top of the umbrella. I turned all the pieces separately and glued them together.

Hi my name is Carl Jacobson,
I started woodworking with my grandfather as a young boy. I continued woodworking through high school, and started woodturning after seeing a turned project in a friends shop. Some of my fondest memories are working with my grandfather in his wood shop. Being able to share our passion for woodworking, ties it all together.

Hi Carl. This is the kind of work that separates you from the crowd. Really special. It is like the Land Cruiser you made and the dripping honey pot. I really like this one though. Just out of curiosity, if you did try to sell it, where would you sell it and for how much? That Robin is a terrific producer. She runs camera, picks the music. If she ever needs a job in video production, I know a guy.... Keep up the great work and congratulations on you anniversary!

Basic my foot. Nothing you do is basic. This piece is so lovely and elegant and what a wonderful gift to give for your anniversary.

Happy anniversary. This is so beautiful. The figurine reminds me of the Willow Tree figurines since they also have no face or expresssion on it. And yet they are getting their message across. Like this very elegant lady.

Just seeing this. New turner here with around a year of experience, but this looks doable. As you mentioned, it's mainly spindle work and patience (from the keyboard warrior point of view, anyway!) Will make for the wife, I think she'd go nuts over it as yours surely did! Very nicely done, sir.

A month ago I accidentally drilled into my hand doing something like that. luckily it was a 2 millimeter bit and it healed but it hurt for several days. Please be careful

Happy anniversary. Nice job as always. I noticed that you use a mustard bottle for your glue. To keep from transferring the glue, the top from the French's mustard will fit a Titebond bottle perfectly.

Now my Friday can really start. Thanks for another great video. I'm so glad you didn't drill into the end of your finger, man I cringed watching that part. Aren't BBQ skewers great? You should check out what the guys over at FliteTest do with foamboard and BBQ skewers.
I just watched an older video Martin Saban-Smith turning a figure as well, his was from a single log. I'm going to go back and check out the video you said you have with the natural edge skirt. I'm going to have to give it a go. Won't be nearly as nice as either of yours, but that won't stop me from trying.
