I'm on the train of how ironic it is that I found your video while doomscrolling. Had I been avoiding doing so successfully, I would not have found your suggestion. Well worth it for me to look into trying though.
I suddenly realised recently that every single person‘s phone number I have is in my phone if I lost my phone I have no numbers anywhere so I’ve started writing them all down in the little book
Appreciate not only the helpful alternative to wasting time being to produce and stimulate thinking and self-perception, but how you made the video less than two minutes; many due to social media hijacking our attention span find it hard to sit through 10 minute insightful videos, so this makes it easier to reach those who may need it the most.
Well maybe it didn't need to be long. Many youtubers exaggerate topics they talk about just to make their video longer and more profitable. He got straight to the point, explained what he needed to explain and that's it, there's no need to add more if the idea is that easy and uncomplicated. Anyway, even if it's short, it's a great advice
Oh my gosh. Thank you for this, good sir!! I tend to carry and use my phone as a crutch for public anxiety and social anxiety. Replacing it with a pocket journal, instead, and writing in it in public, will not only give me an air of sophistication 😎 (I’ve been wondering how to develop that), but will also allow me to write down and get out any negative feelings of anxiety that I’m having in the moment!
I used to journal a bit. However, I exclusively used that journal to document significant events or reflect on self growth. Although it was quite wonderful, my engagement faded, because busy days prevented me from dwelling in that deep state of mind. You just inspired me to complement that journal with a practical-specific journal - that way, I can keep writing on my more “practical” days where I don’t necessarily have the luxury of bathing in deep reflections.
The fact that this video was so short is why I decided to take a break from my math homework to give it a watch, it allowed me to fit it into my busy day and I am very glad you did. It was succinct, real, and I can imagine very helpful to myself and to others. This is the kind of content I wish was more prevalent on social media apps honestly: healthy, productive, quick advice that doesn't waste your time or take advantage of you for views or likes but just to spread positivity or enjoyment to better peoples lives instead of trying to better your own off of catching other peoples time and wasting it and taking advantage of the brains of today's youths. 10/10 video and I will be going to the store today to pick up a mini-notebook.

I used to keep diaries on and off when I was younger. It’s been a good while since I did any journaling, mostly because my lack of consistency kind of made me frustrated. But the idea of pulling out the journal during times of boredom or just whenever inspiration strikes makes journaling seem less demanding, I suppose. Also, the feeling of physically writing after spending so so long typing on a screen is appealing. I think I’ll go out and purchase a journal or two. Thank you, I think I needed this.

Suddenly, instead of going on my phone when I'm bored, I'm getting through books I've been putting off for years within a few days. I will try this notebook idea too. Thank you.
This is great advice, it works, but also i want to say thanks for having such a calm energy. It's a really soothing video and I really needed that right now, on top of being a good encouragement to give myself the gift of paper again!
Immediately after this video, I took the last journal I wrote in, where I was keeping some yard work goals, and went to the first page (which I always leave blank just in case, this moment felt like the case lol), and wrote: "This journal has no purpose." I have probably dozens of notebooks with the first 10 or 20 pages filled out, the rest blank, because I've always had this hurdle that once a notebook has a purpose I shouldn't write anything else in it. Even my spirit journal became a book for the "big" revelations, or ones for notes became notes about the specific books I was reading. I have never been able to keep "just a journal" for the purpose of engaging with the Pen and the Paper and the Self in unison; to train the mental activity of writing and exploring my own mind without some externalized writing related goal. Thank you for the realization and the video.

I've had the habit of journaling for a couple years now and I really appreciate how much it helps me process emotions, as well as avoiding the waste of time that is usually social media. However, I've never considered having a smaller journal that I can take along with me to replace mindlessly scrolling on my phone, but it's such a good idea. I love that I stumble upon your video before the year ends.. I made a mental note that I want to go back to journaling this coming 2025📝 This video found me at the right time
this was short, quick, and straight to the point. thank you so much for this video!! i’ve been feeling really down and not getting enough sleep because of doom scrolling. it’s currently 12:03 am and i need to read a book for a school project. i don’t have time to journal tonight bc i want to sleep but im looking forward to journaling whenever i have time. ur short video means a lot to me right now. thank you.
i;m glad! i also have a rule for myself that i don't bring my cellphone in my bedroom at night. maybe that will be helpful. good luck with your school project!
I adore this idea and have been doing this. I left digital planning after doing for the past few years and RAN back to pen to paper in a beautiful planner. I don’t know if it’s tech cleansing or what but I’m already less aggravated and less stressed
I decided to use my Kindle instead and I’ve read 62 books this year. I’ve never read that many books in a year and if someone had said I was going to do that I’ve have 😂 in their face.
This is such a brilliant idea! I'm going to start doing this, I have so many thoughts and they're so jumbled and I normally go on my phone to stop thinking about them, but writing them down in a little book is so much better!
in the middle of watching this, i glanced down at the play bar and was so shocked at the speed and length of that thing! it's SO rare to have a deep yet short video on youtube 😭😭😭 god bless you for this
Hi Naphtali! UA-cam recommended me this video and, as concise as it is, I loved it. The way in which you express yourself is delightful, I enjoyed just hearing you talk. Also, those two notebooks grabbed my attention. I was wondering if you could, maybe, do a flip through or show us some highlights so we can see how they work when they are in your hands. Subscribed!

Brother , I am a JEE aspirant ( from india , 16 yrs old ) and literally waste all my time in scrolling. I will apply whatever you said in my real life . Will update you in a month. Dhanyavaad 🙏 ( thankyou )
this sounds like a great method!! i believe that instead of struggling to STOP doomscrolling, (or literally any other bad habit you wanna quit) its more effective to look for what you SHOULD be doing. and note taking is definitely a great replacement!
Man, this is absolute GOLD. I have seen many, many other UA-camrs attempt to make videos on "How to stop doomscrolling" but none of them have got it like you have. Making your phone "dumb" doesn't get that little addictive device out of your hand. I saw your video "Morrocco" and I absolutely loved it, the camera work, the audio, the simplicity, you are very talented. Even seeing this set you have here, the lighting, your outfit, the amazing audio... it is simple beautiful and pleasing to watch. I promise you that if you keep making this level of engaging content, your channel will blow up, allowing you to help millions more people out of this terrible addiction. You just earned yourself a sub. I can't wait to watch your videos and be here to see you bless so many more people, keep it up! ♥
I’m glad UA-cam recommended me this video and thank you for making this video. I definitely need to utilize my notebook more, especially since I noticed myself scrolling on social media yesterday, which I never do. My notebook is empty and I need to change that. Thank you again!
I started doing this some years back, for one thing I avoided having any apps on my phone that I could scroll through and I also found that carrying different coloured pens or pencils encouraged me to write or mostly doodle longer. I prevented any addiction to my phone and I'm actively working on reducing the time I spend on my laptop or watching TV. (Ironically I've been using apps for this but I guess it works). Can confirm, this method works really well.
I do much the same thing. And I've found that I don't mind those times when I'm just waiting, or sitting around - I can sketch or write whatever I want!
been doing this for a few months now, i can confirm it is great! You can also doodle and stuff in it if you get bored of writing or whatever, s very fun for me personally atleast , 10/10 would recommend
my journal is my everything this is great advice considering most people scroll 24/7 on their phones and eat away at their attention span etc, this is a great video and it’s even greater how it’s short!
A similar idea to this for free: if you are in therapy or have any sort of mental or physical health symptom(s) you need to track for a healthcare professional, get a cheap weekly and monthly planner and track your moods or [condition] symptoms there. You can use short hand or symbols for the monthly part, and track in the weekly part where you can add more notes. I recommend this being separate from your daily planner with to-do lists and appointments (i use a calendar app bc unlike a paper planner my phone can make noise at me), just to keep room for your notes on either planner. You can combine it with this notebook idea where you journal or jot things down throughout your day, and ar rhe end of the day notes down things you'd want to track for your provider (i.e. low depressions, moments of irritability, good moments (track those too!), etc.). I have already started this commonplace notebook idea (this is the commonplace notebook trend very concisely explained; a notebook you keep with you to write anything in), so I'm trying a planner for mood/symptom tracking! I'll try to update around December 2025 if anyone is watching then, remind me!
Wow! ironically I found this video scrolling through yt recommended and wow only till the end I saw you dont have millions of subscribers, amazing video and a new channel filled with gems discovered, +1 sub (:
Thank you for making this video. Fantastic ideas, and I think I'm going to start carrying a book in my backpack again to read when commuting, or taking a break in a cafe, or sitting in a park, or plaza!
This was good advice! You need to do some kind of reoccurring video giving ideas for journal prompts when you’re bored. I wrote the ideas you gave in this video because I would be blank if I wasn’t taking notes sometimes.
I hadn't heard about 'doomscrolling' until I watched this video. I got over the habit byt first uinstalling all social media apps from my phone. This reduced my phone screen time quite a bit. I still have the accounts, but I access them only from my computer, which is far less accessible than a mobile phone. Hope this works for others too.
I have to write notes in my phone and set alarms for things I forget, so I wont be writing a checklist down on paper, its just easier to do on a phone. However! I love the idea of having a pocket notebook to doodle on to pass time instead of bringing out my phone to find something to do on it while I wait. Great idea!
This is especially helpfull for artists! i've been thinking of doing this but like you said in the video most of the time i dont feel like carrying in a back my sketchbook and pens so i guess i just need a smaller notebook! thank you for the idea!
I love this. I actually started a digital notebook in my notes app where I can write in instead of getting stuck on Instagram. The UA-camr who inspired me to do this was struthless, highly recommend him
im writing a novel. I carry my journal around with me EVERYWHERE and I always, ALWAYS keep things like post its, index cards, etc, with me everywhere. Every idea, unless it's a full blown writing blurb (in which case, that goes in my notes app, for sake of being able to read it better later. I write faster when typing,) but things like ideas, brainstorms, etc, all go pen to paper. Easier to organize your ideas, understand them, having them in that physical space. BIGGEST thing I can say along with this is the emphasis on being able to have pieces you can move around. Tabs, Post its, etc. Make it easy to reorganize those ideas, putting it about, so when / if you want to move those about, you can. Make maps, connect those ideas and expand upon them. Carrying around that journal has allowed on my hour+ train rides to and from work to brainstorm and *think*. sometimes im on my phone, yeah, picking out music or flicking thru Instagram and I can't deny the fact sometimes I do fall into doomscrolling: but ultimately its there for my creativity. Pen to paper in my opinion, regardless of my awful handwriting- will always be better than fumbling about in a digital space. There's not that freedom, honestly? i don't work linear- the paragraphs are too neat and being able to scribble about makes it more fun. :)
I was talking with a friend about having a paper agenda to plan your weeks. I teach and most of my students don't have an agenda, so they have to open their phone to know their homework. Where is the highlighter for when your homework's done ? The little doodles ? The autographs from your friends ? And where can you write down everything fun you've done in your week, such as holidays, cinema, meeting friends? All of that is in my paper agenda. This is my first year of not being a student and I wondered if I would really use this paper planner, but in the end it's my favorite I've had so far ! My agenda is a small notebook but I also have a bigger one for writing and writing ideas. I don't have it everyday but I use it rather than the notes app
Edit : I'm French and the word agenda in this whole comment refers to diary/weekly planner/appointment book... I don't know the correct word I'm sorry 😭
I delete the apps off of my phone. I only download instagram when I need it, other wise it is deleted. I also journal on and off. I want to be more consistent with journaling because it truly was my therapy during the darkest time of my life. Now that my life is good again, I want to still do what was therapeutic to me. Thanks for the video, great advice and reminder to journal again.

One of my lifelong obsessions has always been keeping a notebook. I spend a lot of money on stationery above anything else :]
What an awesome video BTW, very precise and straight to the point! 🎉
@@Ashley-d1m analog over digital all day! Haha
I decided to use my Kindle instead and I’ve read 62 books this year. I’ve never read that many books in a year and if someone had said I was going to do that I’ve have 😂 in their face.
Haha love it
You don’t know how much I needed this right now
I’m happy you found it valuable
This is such a brilliant idea! I'm going to start doing this, I have so many thoughts and they're so jumbled and I normally go on my phone to stop thinking about them, but writing them down in a little book is so much better!
absolutely agree. thanks for watching!!
in the middle of watching this, i glanced down at the play bar and was so shocked at the speed and length of that thing! it's SO rare to have a deep yet short video on youtube 😭😭😭 god bless you for this
@@krowkovtuber I’m glad you found it watchable. Thanks so much
Hi Naphtali! Subscribed!
thank you so much for watching and the kind words! absoulutely! notebook tour video coming soon! just for you:) haha
@ Thank you very much! Already waiting 🤭
@@NaphtaliRosenberg and for me. 😁 I need to see how you find your ideas again later. How you organize your notes in there; and how you harmonize the two notebooks. Please and thank you. 😉😊😁
@@thekingsdaughter4233 I’ll warn you in advance “organized” is definitely not an adjective that would describe my journals. But I gotchuuu
gosh, thank you so much for this! i just planned to buy a journal today from a realization that i've spent too much time online and piled up my to-do list
You inspired me, I love how the video is so short that there is really is no time to wonder off to another thought. I am going to give this a try! Thank you.
thank you so much. so aesome that it inspired you
So true. Somehow I knew this, but you are articulating clearly and soberly and I really feel like putting in place a strategy to do it. Thank you!
You got this
Brother , I am a JEE aspirant ( from india , 16 yrs old ) and literally waste all my time in scrolling. I will apply whatever you said in my real life . Will update you in a month. Dhanyavaad 🙏 ( thankyou )
I love this, I’m definitely going to try and do this. I love how straight to the point you were!
thank you so much!
this sounds like a great method!! i believe that instead of struggling to STOP doomscrolling, (or literally any other bad habit you wanna quit) its more effective to look for what you SHOULD be doing. and note taking is definitely a great replacement!
@@hannanna1004 yes Im all for habit replacement
Thank you brother! You’re well spoken and you keep it straight forward unlike other UA-camrs. Going to subscribe 100%.
Welcome! Thanks! I appreciate it!
this is so smart! I actually try to avoid doom scrolling but it might also help me with aimlessly starring into space and getting stuck in my head.
definitely. allows you to be more conscious with your thoughts
I'm already excited to try this. I always buy notebooks, but never dare to write in them. Now I can give them a purpose!

Your presence in the moment is obvious. There’s a dire need for more of that in these times
@@markgalvao4246 thank you mark!

Because that's the only reason I was able to watch it.
thanks for keeping it short, really helpful and effective!
i'm happy you found it useful!
I’m glad UA-cam recommended me this video and thank you for making this video. I definitely need to utilize my notebook more, especially since I noticed myself scrolling on social media yesterday, which I never do. My notebook is empty and I need to change that. Thank you again!
Good luck!
Can confirm, this method works really well.
that’s awesome to hear. thanks for watching! 🙏🏾
I do much the same thing. And I've found that I don't mind those times when I'm just waiting, or sitting around - I can sketch or write whatever I want!
Yes absolutely. Sometimes I’ll even just read old entries
Yes! I always have a sketchbook in my bag or pocket. Like, Always. Its super fun to doodle whenever i get bored or write ideas!
I’m definitely going to try this! ❤ cheers for sharing brother

this is so good, plain and clear, inspired me
I love to hear that
I'm sort of accidentally starting to do this, and it's making a huge difference in my mental health
amazing!
my journal is my everything this is great advice considering most people scroll 24/7 on their phones and eat away at their attention span etc, this is a great video and it’s even greater how it’s short!
@cyberbrain520 same! Thank you
A similar idea to this for free: if you are in therapy or have any sort of mental or physical health symptom(s) you need to track for a healthcare professional, get a cheap weekly and monthly planner and track your moods or [condition] symptoms there.

This was good advice! You need to do some kind of reoccurring video giving ideas for journal prompts when you’re bored. I wrote the ideas you gave in this video because I would be blank if I wasn’t taking notes sometimes.
I have a couple videos on prompts on my channel that you could check out. Thanks for watching !
@@HariMahadevanKoovappady I try to do the same. Def very helpful
I have to write notes in my phone and set alarms for things I forget, so I wont be writing a checklist down on paper, its just easier to do on a phone.
However! I love the idea of having a pocket notebook to doodle on to pass time instead of bringing out my phone to find something to do on it while I wait.
Great idea!
Nice! Good luck 💪❤️

The UA-camr who inspired me to do this was struthless, highly recommend him
I’ll check him out :) thanks for watching
im writing a novel.
love it! completely agree
Bro went straight to the point. I like it
🙏🏾🙏🏾
what an incredibly valid point. New Years resolution for 2025 is to break the phone addiction
yes. a more human year
I was talking with a friend about having a paper agenda to plan your weeks.
I don't know the correct word I'm sorry 😭
you miss alot when you move away from physical paper. Thank you for watching!
Yess definitely important to do it during the good times as well! Maybe doing some gratitude based writings. Thanks for watching!
Good idea. One of my big goals is to slow down and do one thing at a time, so I think this could help
Writing definitely helps you slow down, become more aware of your thoughts, and prioritize
