Really loved this post ❗ Steve is just so chilled, yet somehow keeps you intrigued, never disappoints... So thrilled to see a snippet of Nick Magnus, too. He teamed up with Robbie Dobson, Mark Easton & Steve Huff and made an excellent album under the band name 'Autumn' - Oceanworld, along with the amazing Voyage of the Acolyte, remain as two of my favourite prog albums. Thank you 👍
Once again the night owl in me was rewarded with the Fascinating back stories that shed more light on this album. It really gave me a renewed appreciation for it. Thanks Paul! ❤️🎸🎼
One of Hackett’s most challenging albums, but in a really good way. So many experiments , ideas and textures going on that it can become somewhat overwhelming. The point at which it was released too coincided the 80’s trademark DX, bass and drum machines becoming the dominant sound… but it still sounds remarkably good good today probably because it just predates that (apart from a DX). Fine stuff.
Many years after this album, Sergio Mendes came out with a marvelous album Brasileiro that explored many similar veins that Steve and Nick were developing back in 1984. The total immersion and risks taken in recording this album resulted in some new and really interesting songs. Always reinventing!
All these documentaries have been really cool! Would it be at all likely that Yes might want to do some of these? An in-depth examination into the Drama album would be class!
Oh don't worry Steve, plenty of us got it. Faces is an absolute work of art and one of the best albums ever produced, the rhythms and the detail blew our minds and that's before you get to some of the sweetest melodies.
A criminally underrated and overlooked album in Steve’s canon of exceptional music.
Big fan of Till We Have Faces!

Criminally under rated record in your back cat Steve!
