I am using for the first time and can't get through the start-up. The blue light is on but the green light is not the one adjacent to it it. It is third for the top of the scale and I've waited over 20 minutes for it to change. I stop and restarted and the same thing happened. My room is 68 degrees. Any thoughts? Thanks.
What if the tester only beeps 3 times at startup then the needle moves to the #1 and doesn't read anymore? It seems to read metal through the pen still, but the startup is wrong.
Great, Now maybe next time you can show a simulant so we can see what it shows up as. I have a gem which is red and translucent that I thought may be a Ruby. But it's landing way to the sapphire side right on the CAL. The same with the blue ones that I think are sapphires but it's right in the middle of the red CAL. It's confusing if this means they're simulants.
you say Simulant.... but I believe you mean "lab" created. However, a lab created stone will have the same "properties' of the real stone thus these types of machines cant tell. They are excellent for the person trying to pass colored glass as a stone

Because as far as I know lab created is just that and have all the same material properties as a diamond and pressure and heat but in a much quicker process then a natural Diamond. Hince the reason it's lab created and not done out of someone's shop. If there's glass involved then I'd have to say that's a simulant because a simulant can be artificial or natural material. Also if there's glass involved I'd hope it would show up as glass lol otherwise this machines just a piece of crap lol. I could look at something and make s guess at what it is and this machine can make the same guess but not telling you if it's real is kind of pointless I guess. Im just going to have to bring them to someone with a trained eye.
@@michaelwerbick I bought a Gem Refactor and hopefully once I learn how to use it I can combine what I have and know what real from there. Maybe buy one of those first would of saved me some money on buying one of these😂
I’m having the same issue. Did you find out anything with your gems? Some land on ruby and some land on sapphire or sometimes CAL. But when I test a CZ it comes up as glass. I want to assume that some are lab created and some are natural but it’s so hard to tell.
@@matthewhannan5454 I took the ruby to a local gemologist at a jewelry store that does appraisals. I didn't get a appraisal but he looked at it and told me he's never seen one that big with a unique facet he's never seen. It turned out to be lab created. He says he gets his from a place called Chatham gems I believe. They make lab grown corundum for $200 to $300 a carat. He's says he couldn't tell where it's from but it's definitely worth more than what I paid for the whole gem collection. It's 18 carats to so that just makes it more desirable. As for the Gemini if it's showing glass then it's definitely glass. It's definitely helpful in identifying fakes. I was sold a rubie that shows as a real rubie and is, and I was sold one that looked funny. I tested it and it showed up as quartz. After further investigation I found out there's this scam where they'll do this method called "crackling quartz" They heat it and cool it quick to open the vains within and then soak it in colored dye. So the machine can't discern between lab grown or natural but I do know CZ if you're talking cubic zirconia should max out as a diamond. The same goes for moissanite. This machine tests off the heat conductivity of the gemstones being tested which lab grown being the same properties as the naturals it get tell the difference. They have other machines that test off UV light or the electrical conductivity but cost way more. But with all that your CZ is definitely glass if that's what it's showing.
