It's so predictable, when you learn the tactics of the AI you will automatically take the best actions against it. With that knowledge everything becomes so repetitive and easy, at least with diplomacy. They could have had different people work on different factions to create ai personality for each faction, so that some use more bow troops, and have soldier on walls, while other nations use to charge out instead of being behind walls, to at least try to create variation in their behavior.
I wish there was a "Spectate" button when you dont fight your own battle but instead watch the AI fight it out. Kinda similar to the autoresolve but with the option to get a cinematic view of the fighting.
Ive bought every total war and every DLC. Spent 100s of hours on each one. I always say if i can get more than 1 hour of entertainment per dollar spent it is worth it. That said this game looks awesome and cant wait to play it. To hell with all the haters true total war fans will play them all.
Hey guys, I’m not a hardcore total war player but I own several titles. I was just wondering why the community comes off to be so bitchy? Is it just me who doesn’t understand why?
Boromir Not true is it. This is a new map. Big ‘nall. New settlements maps, tiers like Med2 in the bigger sieges. The battle mechanics are updated. And it’s not a full title. It’s cheap as chips for what you’re getting. They’re not going to roll out a new game engine on this are they? This is obviously a filler ‘till 3 kingdoms. How can you compare Battlefield to this? Completely different, which since Battlefield 3 most sensible people couldn’t give a fig about, especially when you’re talking about value for money. Aye, there’s improvements need doing and I miss the TW’s of the past and the best elements they’ve chopped out but honestly, nobody expected CA to revolutionise their titles with this one. Besides you can still play the older games they have endless replay potential, and mods. Rome 2 is much improved and now probably the most playable title since Shogun 2, not perfect but nay bad. Warhammer 2 is alright, although certainly not as immersive as most previous titles. CA do ok, bit lazy sometimes but christ, they still make some good games. Far better than a lot of others. @Alex, some people just don’t know they’re born. I used to have to wait half hour to load Elite via cassette on a BBC model B.
NWO Willy I mean it doesn’t look like the same game to me, better graphics, looks like better settlements, seems more focused on story. Idk I might be wrong.
To each their own. I played the original Medieval Total War when it came out back in 2002 and I fell in love with the Total war series. I've bought every game they have made since then. Medieval Total War 2 came out in 2006 dude that was 12 years ago! I think a lot of people agrees me that it's been long enough.
I really hope too. Just imagine a Victoria Total War with the whole World as map. You could colonize countries as an european power or fight tribals warfare in Africa dealing with this foreign treat. The gameplay of both campaign and battles would be something unique in the license, this is what Total War needs to do after Three Kingdoms.
I wish they would have had population, and some key cities that could be upgraded to max, while the rest could not. So it would've been some key important settlements to hold, to mimic the viking age.
Connor Quarmby Interesting how you are able to claim that three kingdoms is warhammer lite. Even more interesting how you determined that from one announcement trailer. Impressive.
TheGoodenPlenty well it’s more so about the almost hero like characters, Warhammer lite, as in Warhammer without the fantasy bits, no magic, no eleven or any of that. I mean it seems as though China prefers we know about the Romance of the Three Kingdoms than the real History of the Three Kingdoms. So what’s the best way to sell in China? Do it about the Romance where, in those stories, one guy can take out 100. Unless they did that to outline the main dudes in the game but..they could have done so many more if they had that in mind.
I really love the many smart additions to this game - it makes the game more immersive, more like Crusader Kings, but also with great combat. I am, however, concerned about the lack of variety in units. This is not necessarily CA's fault, as both the time period and localisation make large variety unrealistic. On the other hand, if every encounter (apart from unique sieges) are the same, the game won't captivate me for very long.
I'll be relieved when ToB goes live, then they'll start giving us our first looks at Three Kingdoms. I've been waiting years for a China-based Total War game, and I want to see what they're going to do.
Why would looting the enemies camp be exclusive to Mierce? Any army would loot anything if given the opportunity. Maybe give Mierce a buff to captured loot instead.
Yeah they are okay, but I still wish for a descent portrait for the generals, like in the Crusader Kings 2 were you felt a connection with your character and the nation you ruled over because the ruler actually looked human. Just my personal opinion though. Crusader kings 2 style family tree with courts and personality trait and events would've been amazing! Incest is winchest ! Game of thrones style ^^
Guys, give Mercia and Wessex some blondies in their units, c'mon now. I've been slowing watching the buildup of the game and I'm still surprised to see nothing has changed, there.
have a real question : I miss the recruitement system from Medieval 2 , the city management , the building , the reinforcement ect will we ever have a new game with those mechanics? You had something with the first generation of total war . You decide to change the campaign to arcade gameplay (would like to know what motivated the change)
This lack of garrisons in the villages is really going to piss me off. Feels like it's going to be an annoying return to the endless sacking of towns in Empire Total War!
Man this more than ever showcases the need for non general armies, I feel it's going to be such a pain trying run down all these armies going after minor settlements.
I heard somewhere that special missions have been introduced regarding hunts of legendary creatures of Britannia such as Jabberslythes, Ghorgons and Doombulls. Can anyone confirm this?
Anirban Bhattacharya I played total war warhammer one and two. Didn't come across such references. I must of either not been paying attention for most of it (unlikely), the reference is extremely obscure, or its in the tabletop lore which Im not interested in.
Codian No it's actually in CA's QnA videos where one of the devs is asked if they're gonna develop the Jaberslythe for the Beastmen and they say they considered it but ultimately the team needed to accurately simulate the nonsensical movements of all the attached bits the resources required would equal that involved in creating Age of Charlemagne. You can find it if you type in "too many Charlemagnes meme" on Google. The meme itself is quite funny bruh
thrones is basically a standalone expansion for Attila, so u dont need Attila but its basically a expensive Attila dlc. Three Kingdoms is the next full release historical total war game, so new engine and completely different game with a much bigger team working on it.
+cryohellinc Yup. My only hope is for Three Kingdoms China to re-introduce many removed features & mechanics as well as introducing new ones (hopefully good ones) to replace the features & mechanics they don't bring back. I really need that game to be fantastic. I've wanted a TW about China for soon 13 years.
They still have trade routes and the trade ships as well. Maddis has no ports so you cant see it on this lets play. They have been doing nothing but reinventing the series not stripping it away.
Who told you so ? watch Angry joe's video with the developer, trade routes exists in this game. And you trade with everyone you are not enemy with automatically.
It was a mistake to not make this in a new engine and as a more fleshed out full release. This just isn't interesting. The only saving grace here is the beautiful 2D art style. The 3D art should reflect this unique style, but sadly looks roughly the same as Attila. There are some basic problems with the art direction on this one. The lack of contrast on the campaign map makes everything look washed out and boring. I've been wondering this since Shogun 2 - did the art team up and leave after that project or did you outsource to contractors?
The total war sagas are expansions similar to Fall of the samurai, they are not meant to be full fledged total wars. Three kingdoms will have a new engine, so you got what you wanted there. Let me ask you something, did you find it a mistake when they made Fall of the samurai in the same engine?
66_greenrunner_77 Even with the same engine, which was fairly new by fall of the samurai, the content was cheaper and obviously brought something new to the table - industrialism.
Carpe Noctem fall of the samurai cost 40 euro too when it first came out, and industrilisation was plus. Then this game brings in a new province system, recruitment system, general upgrades not seen in any total war yet. So i think they give you plenty of bang for your buck here
new engine? finally I hope they fix the horrible performance, a decent multicore engine, better battle animation(current sucks ballz, it looks the same as Attila)
Saxon peasants, abandon your false god who has given you nothing but poor harvests and diseased livestock. Instead embrace the love of Freyja, the radiance of Baldur, the bravery of Thor and the wisdom of Odin!
is it me or the battle system is exactly the same as in Attila... :( didn't think I would say this but .. Warhammer is better than this. all the love to you
the graphics, the engaging between troops, units, sieges and the looks in general... nothing new at all, I hope they add something unique. the only difference I see is in the campaign map, nothing else.....
Hy total war. i think it would be great if you made a medieval 3 total war. And here me out its not that the game was M2 was bad i think it could use an upgrade or something like actual naval battles and better game mechanics. And even better you could add more units from the time period or something like that. You could chooses your own religion make your own faction, ect. I think it would a good money maker and a good game. (This is just a simple request that dose not need to be fulfilled but i think it would. Be great)
AI on map looks so easy. After destroy two army just in few turns Merce take all anemy settlements without any problems.Im really hope game offer some chellange -becouse now AI on map looks so stupid and boring.
i do not like this kind of video's. Those video's are so heavily edited, we dont get a view of how the game actually plays/feels. We dont see how long a battle last, and we dont see the AI moving his units around.
The new DLC for Attila looks sick
Good to see my small home town (Tamworth) as a major faction capital in a game
I wish the AI were a threat
yolofire i really hope this too in rome 2 exept for some faction it is too eazy
Or that they made it a 4 players online campaign.
Bill yeah it would be really great
But for now we have not seen lots of thing about the campain so CA can still surpise us
yolofire Then you go and program the AI yourself.
Thanks for all these TOB videos they really help me get to sleep these days.
Man, I love that opening cutscene aesthetic. It's like colored metalwork. Never seen that before and I hope I see more.
I wish there was a "Spectate" button when you dont fight your own battle but instead watch the AI fight it out. Kinda similar to the autoresolve but with the option to get a cinematic view of the fighting.
6:06 sounded like he said “Feckin Burg!”
A great mod for this would be the Roman invasion of Britannia
The "FREED"?
Fee-urd. Say it with me, FEE-URD
Yeah I cringed a bit when he said that.
Ive bought every total war and every DLC. Spent 100s of hours on each one. I always say if i can get more than 1 hour of entertainment per dollar spent it is worth it. That said this game looks awesome and cant wait to play it. To hell with all the haters true total war fans will play them all.
True morons continue to buy the same peddled crap every release.
good job idiot.
Hey guys, I’m not a hardcore total war player but I own several titles. I was just wondering why the community comes off to be so bitchy? Is it just me who doesn’t understand why?
Alex folks just like to complain
most men are bitches today
Boromir Ah, I can understand a bit more now.
Boromir
Not true is it.
This is a new map. Big ‘nall. New settlements maps, tiers like Med2 in the bigger sieges. The battle mechanics are updated. And it’s not a full title. It’s cheap as chips for what you’re getting.

NWO Willy I mean it doesn’t look like the same game to me, better graphics, looks like better settlements, seems more focused on story. Idk I might be wrong.
I think everyone knows that getting rammed from behind is the last thing you want to happen whilst playing this game
I hope Medieval 3 is next after three kingdoms
I rather play the Mongols than relive the Medieval Europe bullshit. Boring!
To each their own. I played the original Medieval Total War when it came out back in 2002 and I fell in love with the Total war series. I've bought every game they have made since then. Medieval Total War 2 came out in 2006 dude that was 12 years ago! I think a lot of people agrees me that it's been long enough.
2:32
-> I am going to quickly auto-resolve this battle
-> Loses all artilery units
I hope to god the next total war is empire 2
green mushroom its three kingdoms
The next total war is Three Kingdoms, same units but different color, but with Heroes.
I’ve been waiting for this
Why did you choose Old English "Mierce" for Mercia, but the Old English "Westseaxna" you kept as Wessex?
3:20 why doe he wait so got dang long before pressing the battle button?? its like he dosent know were to click.
5:03 look at that Knight ahahah
《See yaaaaa, i go that way》
I wish they would have had population, and some key cities that could be upgraded to max, while the rest could not. So it would've been some key important settlements to hold, to mimic the viking age.
very excited for this and three kingdoms
Shido8 Three Kingdoms...or from what it looks like, Warhammer lite.
me too new theme
Connor Quarmby
Interesting how you are able to claim that three kingdoms is warhammer lite. Even more interesting how you determined that from one announcement trailer. Impressive.
TheGoodenPlenty well it’s more so about the almost hero like characters, Warhammer lite, as in Warhammer without the fantasy bits, no magic, no eleven or any of that.

Connor Quarmby yeah it looks really bad compared to britannia. Yet everyone already hates this saga and that is totally fine for some reason.
you guys are getting me so hyped...
I think that the point.
what are you hyped about? such a disappointing game that is so watered down in terms of features. The feature removal is real.
There are some up side to this game. But I'm not on the hyped up bandwagon.
even UA-cam sorted the video as Attila lmfao :)
Could you make a video running through all the politics, lords, giving out land to generals and how all that sort of stuff works?
I can't wait for the Desert Nomad DLC.
I'll be relieved when ToB goes live, then they'll start giving us our first looks at Three Kingdoms. I've been waiting years for a China-based Total War game, and I want to see what they're going to do.
Only 10% off? -5 Loyalty
Fryd? Fyrd* 0:42
Hey CA where is my Norsca??
Why would looting the enemies camp be exclusive to Mierce? Any army would loot anything if given the opportunity. Maybe give Mierce a buff to captured loot instead.
I think i will wait for next tw games
I´m defending a village but on the map the attacker´s forces are in the village and I´m outside. So many bugs in this game.
"we have the Freed" No you don't. What you have is Fyrd.
The unit portraits are awesome.
Lucas Palhuca and buildings
Yeah they are okay, but I still wish for a descent portrait for the generals, like in the Crusader Kings 2 were you felt a connection with your character and the nation you ruled over because the ruler actually looked human. Just my personal opinion though.
Crusader kings 2 style family tree with courts and personality trait and events would've been amazing!
Incest is winchest ! Game of thrones style ^^
i hate them because you can't instantly distinguish the units, they feel like they are all the same
It should be like it was in rome total war, medieval total war and empire total war
Guys, give Mercia and Wessex some blondies in their units, c'mon now. I've been slowing watching the buildup of the game and I'm still surprised to see nothing has changed, there.
Looks so good, I broke my "no pre-orders ever again" rule. Damn you guys! lol
have a real question : I miss the recruitement system from Medieval 2 , the city management , the building , the reinforcement ect will we ever have a new game with those mechanics? You had something with the first generation of total war . You decide to change the campaign to arcade gameplay (would like to know what motivated the change)
Those horsies have nice more fluid animations. I like that.

Man this more than ever showcases the need for non general armies, I feel it's going to be such a pain trying run down all these armies going after minor settlements.
Why? armies arn't capped so you can have as many as you want
Metalord874 that's good to hear, I am happy to see that all these battles aren't just 20 v 20 stacks
Ahhhh...Anyone want to freeze me like in the South park episode so I can play this, Then refreeze me and wake me for RDR2?
Mercia
What’s the next major historical title? Is gunpowder making a return? :D
CA, this is not a let's play.
I didn't realise the battles would feature mighty morphin jelly soldiers
I heard somewhere that special missions have been introduced regarding hunts of legendary creatures of Britannia such as Jabberslythes, Ghorgons and Doombulls. Can anyone confirm this?
Shagrat65 think you just made that up
I don't know man, sounds pretty legit to me.
Codian If you had played Warhammer you'd know this was a meme regarding the whole Jabberslythe equal to one Charlemagne
Anirban Bhattacharya I played total war warhammer one and two. Didn't come across such references. I must of either not been paying attention for most of it (unlikely), the reference is extremely obscure, or its in the tabletop lore which Im not interested in.

Dang flabbit caught me off guard there.. c'mon total war I'm running out of clean underwear
I feel bad for those people in the image when a general dies. They look heart broken. :'(
Are thrones of Britannia and three kingdoms new total war games or are they like expansions or remasters, also is there no artillery in this game?
thrones is basically a standalone expansion for Attila, so u dont need Attila but its basically a expensive Attila dlc.
Three Kingdoms is the next full release historical total war game, so new engine and completely different game with a much bigger team working on it.
Why of all things you had to remove those small trade routes/trade ships. Honestly, you stripped SO many features away from Total War Series.
+cryohellinc Yup. My only hope is for Three Kingdoms China to re-introduce many removed features & mechanics as well as introducing new ones (hopefully good ones) to replace the features & mechanics they don't bring back. Spreading of misinformation through ignorance? smh
Outrage is the gamer's common language, even if based on lies.
I wish there was like a Roman invasion event
Awesome graphics!
Chester should be a port - it was at this time!
It was a mistake to not make this in a new engine and as a more fleshed out full release. This just isn't interesting. The only saving grace here is the beautiful 2D art style. New DLC is looking good. How much is it? $15?
guys, why give out a new part, if this addition to the attire? It would be better to release the Middle Ages 3
Go Mierce!
it's basically the shittiest features of R2TW (among which unit icons) and Attila combined into 1 game.
please make a console version just make a note in the box to connect mouse and keyboard to console if needed please and thank you.
As long as it isnt a huge mess like empire, it will be good.
How long after launch can we expect a blood & gore pack?
Day 1 Blood and Gore DLC?
ever will be on iphone?
WHOOOOO!!!! HEREFORD!!!!!!!
Are there resources on the map? Do you trade in this?
Yes to both.
didn't think I would say this but .. Warhammer is better than this.
all the love to you
What battle system? What do you mean by that?
the graphics, the engaging between troops, units, sieges and the looks in general...
nothing new at all, I hope they add something unique. the only difference I see is in the campaign map, nothing else.....
It's an Attila Expansion, that's why it looks the same.
Thrones of Britannia is based on the attila engine
The Game needs Merlin and William the Conqueror.
Should not call a 10 minute clip a "let's play", more like a "let's tease".
can you tone down the men screaming just a little bit
Can you nuke a city in this Saga?
Is that dlc ?
Does this game have naval battles?
Yes, but no dedicated naval units as the British were not very competent sea warriors at this time.
It is a game based on vikings.
it's funny cause scandinavians fought on ships
Yes. It has Russian bear calvary too.
vikings dont have dedicated naval units?
Oh come on, love the setting BUT its the same old game over and over and over
Anglo-Saxons!
looks truly great!
Who's ready for the blood and gore DLC? #HYPED
6:55 robots...
5 steps back from warhammer :(
please give the blood and gore pack free this time like total war warhammer!
They shouldn't, and since when was it free for Warhammer?
so they should charge extra for every tiny piece of content? grow up you muppet, and yes it was free with total warhammer 2
Only for people who bought it for tww1 though I think.
Be great)
it should have been a 20 dollars dlc to attila
I like this game but, I fear that this engine has reached its limits.
No dragons? No thanks
autoresolve 99% of the battles
Really guys... This ,,ATILLA RIPOFF" comments started to get annoying. We know you hate this game (before the release), so please... *SHUT UP* !
ok internet police.
You should really do something about the faction cinematic intros beacuse its disguisting
Can we see some warhammer please
Am I the only one bothered with how he said “Fyrd”?
No you are not.
Dude you can't put up a video that's less than 15 minutes and call it a "Let's Play".
Its pronounced fi/y/rd (just to help)
Is it just me or is autoresolve just way too predictable?
Whoa, that clipping.
Still excited though.
England is my city.
AI on map looks so easy. After destroy two army just in few turns Merce take all anemy settlements without any problems.Im really hope game offer some chellange -becouse now AI on map looks so stupid and boring.
Don't these mens faces look a little too clean for soldiers? I mean, flawless skin, no pimples, no dirt.....
Жду перевод от Verus !
I want animations. There is no difference between attila, rome 2 and thrones of britannia. Why don't you do new things for the ''new games''?
Please don't let this be the turd that Rome 2 was. Please.
Total War Attila with less features, interesting approach, CA
i do not like this kind of video's.
Those video's are so heavily edited, we dont get a view of how the game actually plays/feels.
We dont see how long a battle last, and we dont see the AI moving his units around.
