Saw a mantis in action in a base defense. Basically defending a raid where the lower lvl raider tried to debuff the stronger defenders. Defenders just docked to clear the debuff and came back out and crushed the raider. Not going to work in open space but it’s something to keep in mind.

@@yowsers9970 it's not about affording it. He said he wouldn't buy it on principle due to the negative effects on the game, and how it changes the meta. Watch more videos and you'd know that.

From what I can see this is essentially the same thing we have had before with the Stella and Eclipse hostiles. The debuff is new but I am not convinced that it is going to be as much of a game changer as people think.
Should have called it "The Shark" ... as in, Scopley has "Jumped the Shark"

Glad they gave you a ship for review.... Seems a little back handed.. . But I get it.
You forgot one important thing, cargo size is irrelevant if you have a decent 46+ ship. I know guys with the corvus that go in a get 300k loot in one run, my pilum gets about 100k per token, so why would i use the mantis? Seems like bad design allowing non mantis ships to collect the loot, but hey i'll take advantage while i can. Also you didn't mention the stupid bugs with the loot pop up window or the excomp things they drop being in the consumable shop for some weird reason as the don't seem to be a way to activate them from there. Just another sub standard scopely release, they don't test or have any kind of quality control. The only good thing about this ship is the refinery it unlocks, that's it.

I used 2 as Capt 4 and stonn in t2 mantis gave 11.52k cargo however I only managed 8300 cargo before dying, tomorrow when I get new system tokens I will try 5 as Capt 4 and stonn which will give 10k cargo and hopefully with 400% synergy I'll have hull left and a full cargo. currently was using pike moreau 5 but only 6500 in cargo. after cargo was full I still had 85%hull left. also on first day when they gave like 10 tokens I used 3hr 25% added cargo exo so that helped get to t2
I used something similar. I used 2 as capt with 4 and 5 on the side with lower deck officer on the bottom to get 8k of loot per run a lot faster. The exo comps you get from hostiles and ship bonus will handle the lack of pve officers till you get more cargo research on the ship. I may leave mine at low tiers because the price changes as you tier the ship until the research is caught up
i used 5 as Capt 4 and stonn on side it gave me 10k cargo and i filled up cargo and so had 80% hull left.
used 5 Capt 4 stonn on bridge and la'an on lower deck it now gives me 46.5k cargo since mantis update plus I'm also at t3 i believe. i fill cargo and still go home with half a hull
Only get it to increase syndicate points. Never mind the grind.
I take the Pilum to source the new resource for mantis. It give me the most reward and has more chargo size. I go 35 or 34 with tier 4 pilum. The new hostil is not so hard to beat it! It is just has a lot of hull health. Take your best ship with most damage you will make! It think critical crew can also help.
Rev, I feel it. You are not a happy camper right now and I'm right there with you. I'm going to have to shell out $70 just to keep up with the joneses.
You are likely better off with spending $100 now and get the mantis events and extra event store loot from those events. But I don't want to encourage/tell people to spend that amount of money on the game. after this month, you won't get the events to get the loot and other rewards.

Economic downturn and scopely is creating a clear caste system where those that don't or can't invest will be at a remarkable disadvantage that cannot be qualified or calculated that will increase pressure to go elsewhere.

@@thehawk5141 yes atleast 2 on ours as well. And one's completely gone off leaderboard but was playing last week, so either got an archive or deleted their account.
I feel like you missed the mark here, both on the crew for Mantis loot farming (close, but we've found better) and the meta for loot farming leveraging the 5 minute exocomps.
I use talios with 5 and get a lot more loot in addition to mantis
Crew for this ship is two as captain borg Jayla and borg stonn. Laan below. Easy peasy. I’m doing 38s with the crew filling up and gone in a few minutes.

No More Time Sinks!!! I am going to have to completely ignore this ship until Scopely realizes that they have to help us cut down time instead of keep increasing it. Some of us have lives Scopely!

I noticed in the beginning of your video that there was a Majalan Power Core in the refinery. How do you get these? I have been stuck at level 10 because I can't get another one to tier up.

You got a free ship n I can't even get scopely to remove a few so I could build my jellyfish at lvl 14 . They said, you have to build your scrapyard. N by then the jellyfish will be obsolete. Some bs
How long is The Sting cool down period?

hi rev i manged to unlock the mantis but it wont give me any Ancient beacons is there a bug as scopley not replied to me so it useless at present. As unable to travel to Azuras

Its been added to the game, the content creators will still need cover how the ship works.
Nothing against a sneaky backhander, after all Rev does a lot for the community its not like hes got a free ship for sitting on his arse and doing nothing. Still, I'm not convinced its worth $100 of my hard-earned cash - PvP is a very small part of my game and in any case, most people are 10 levels above me so will whelp my 5 mil Ent with a 100+ mil Pillum.

So the cargo bay does not read correctly when you have modifiers on it like a below deck ability and crew, it is off my a thousand or so. Coming from an iPad player

Nice new ship.... but to make room for it. That ships do i have to crap..... because, the ship limit is a problem, then there are giving us new ships alle the time.
Mantis cargo research first, then upgrade the ship. Upgrading the ship first is spinning your wheels

Âs for the dailies, you can't do them every day! You only get 1000 Venom per day from the refinery. And the first, smaller daily requires you to use ALL of it to score. That leaves you with nothing to do the second, bigger daily which requires you to spend 2000 Venom total.
So you will only be able to do the dailies every second day for maximum payout. And that leaves you with exactly 0 venom for PvP. Meaning you gotta decide, use it as a PvP ship and miss out on the dailies or do the dailies and miss out on the PvP opportunities. Maybe that is Scopely's way to balance things... Well, you can alway BUY more venom with ca$h...
I agree, Its too much like the cloak dailies. You can get caught in a bind when the event where you need to spend rolls around.
@@kevinwilliamson7158 A little off topic but be careful with the current cloak event. The "Disappearing Act" event usually gives some tetryons back; this one only gives you actian keys. So if you do it, think about how many tetryons you're willing to give up for keys. I stopped at the 3rd rung.

About those mini-exos ... are they just once per entering the system oder do they renew every time they reach 0 and you hit a new ship with an exo?
They keep activating as you kill the ships carrying them. They have little symbols behind their identifiers on screen.
@@Greatblue56 seems to be buggy. I was farming there for 30mins, but only the 1st exo activated. After that nothing 🤷🏻♂️
f2p, never mind the new ship, still waiting on the extra dry dock, research and build slots.
Thanks again for an informative video. The question I’ve been asking is, does a player getting debuffed know who did it to them? Obviously if you’re pvp but what about sneaking in to disrupt armadas like you mentioned. Thanks

How do the 5 min exocomps work? Can all 3 be active at the same time? How can u tell if they’re active or if the 5 min. elapsed?
They replace each other
Each chest you pull for the part and research is on a 2 day cool down. The chest for the officers can be pulled many times without cool down. I suppose you'd alternate between ship upgrades and maybe pulling the syndicate tab.
Synthetic Ion (Research) is on a 3 day cool down, Hull Fragments (For Officers) is on a 2 day cool down, Syndicate XP and Synthetic Nitrium (For Ship Upgrade) is on a 1 day cool down.
Is this a human ship? If not, why is it named after earth insects? Is there no love of the SFU at Scopely?

I got the Mantis last night I got two 111 lucky pools at the same time for s&w Pike and for hemmet. Due to the mitigation of hammer I tried him in Tycho but it says if the 800 mitigation against survey ships didn't work at all because my maxed out Sally with PMC could normally take out 9 to 10 level 38 hostiles in Tyco got almost completely destroyed on the first attempt with hemmer. I tried pmh and s&w Pike with s&w lawn and s&w hammer both got wiped out on the second ship destroyed. So is this a glitch or is there something to h e m m e r?
The mitigation from the SNW crew comes from Pike's captain ability, which is entirely dependent upon the shield. So if the hostile can get past your shields the Hemmer/Ortegas/Spock/Uhura officer ability isn't doing that much.
I am just mad that the spend event went up 35% and out resources gained went down 200%. We have gotten NO RESOURCES this arc. Nothing in events, tokens, etc. We have to use the event store to get anything we want. Completely unacceptable. I am debating taking this arc off

Stfc dropped an add for their game mid show… gameplay was so fake it makes me sick. Scopely makes fake ads about fake gameplay and they drop changes like what we saw this patch.
Scopely killing off PvP completely for F2P and low spenders, all while also angering a lot those who invested for years and years in officers for PvP purposes
Where is the bonus refinery we were promised each month? Or did they
