- From psychopaths to homeopaths, from bodysnatchers to Bohemians, 'Medical London' comprises a book of essays, a set of maps for self guided walks and a gazetteer and covers the roles played by diseases, treatments and cures in London's sprawling history.
This video features a point of interest on walk five from the book, 'Politics, Poverty, Pox and Pleasure: Soho by night'.

John Snow (15 March 1813 - 16 June 1858) was an English physician and a leader in the development of anaesthesia and medical hygiene.
He is considered one of the fathers of modern epidemiology, in part because of his work in tracing the source of a cholera outbreak in Soho, London, in 1854.
Oxford University researchers state that Snow's findings inspired the adoption of anaesthesia as well as fundamental changes in the water and waste systems of London, which led to similar changes in other cities, and a significant improvement in general public health around the world.
this is the answer. cheers
This was really helpful for my GCSE exam
One of the most famous landmarks in the world! Beautiful. The real pump was located some distance away. A moving experience to visit this place.

Very good! John Snow and the cholera are a very interesting topic. You helped me a lot with this video, thank you!
Thanks for the info! Very enlightening. Here's to John Snow (Quaff)! I am loving Steven Johnson's book about the Cholera outbreak.
Really enjoyed this video, thank you for posting it! It's astounding that Dr John Snow's revelations were not recognised straight away and preferred the riddiculous 'miasma' theories.
Very nicely done. I enjoyed that.
Giving John Snows a good name everywhere
Thanks this really helped for my history test
cheers helped with history coursework
About to write a 10 marker on this so I'm recapping with this 😄
good detailed video.
A good video, but Mr. Jay needs to be reminded that it is not "medical" history. This was a milestone in public health history. It was the beginning of applied epidemiology.
John Snow was an intelligent man.
ew1usnr i thought he doesn't know anything

Nope, I'm pretty sure some medical experts actually said "you know nothing John Snow" seeing how often he tried to purpose theories though foolish by everyone else.

See, drinking beer paid off for many at that time.
Great video. The bicentenary of Dr. Snow's birth is on March 15, 2013. Join us 'round the #BroadStPump on Twitter that day to celebrate the life of #DrJohn Snow.
