Cholera is an acute diarrhoeal infection contracted by consuming food or water contaminated with the bacterium Vibrio cholerae. It affects both children and adults and can kill within hours.

I highly doubt that’s the case, you would’ve lost a lot of weight (5-7 lbs a day) and would have to go to the hospital because of how lethal it is. Death rates from cholera are high. You most likely had a form of food poisoning, cholera causes someone to lose salt, sugar, and water from their blood stream and can kill because of dehydration and organ failure. Unless you had a medical scanning or your fecal matter was tested, no you did not have cholera.

I know what it is, I can speak from experience. When I was 11 sbout 6 years ago, I had a mild form which lasted 5 days. It was messy and NO fun! Obviously I kade full recovery (There is just one thing, I was only one year earlier disgnosed with Crohn's disease, so this was especially serious. but rgevibrio cholerae disappeared but I still at 17 have Crohn's disease a form of IBD, no cure for this.

I think I had Cholera when I was a child. But didn't even know it and got better by my mom.

then you did not have cholera. cholera is treated by IV fluids and is transmitted from fecal matter in the water. Your skin would’ve sunken in, and you would’ve lost weight rapidly (5-7 pounds a day). What you most likely had was food poisoning, this can be treated easily because you do not loose the salts and sugars that are needed in your body as severely as cholera.

There’s no shame in that, every country in the west including my own - the UK - experienced cholera outbreaks throughout history.
The last indigenous case of cholera in the UK was reported in 1893. It is a disease of the past in our world but not everyone is fortunate enough to have access to clean water to drink and wash their hands with or proper toilets.
