Such an underrated song from an overlooked classic album. They were pretty much one of the most interesting young bands around by 1982 It was a straight and short way to the top (Joshua Tree /R&H/ Achtung Baby) starting with War in 1983
I've seen U2 many times since the War tour in 2003 and I have to say that I still believe that WAR is their best album: Its simply awesome. To describe it as "amateurish" is utterly ridiculous. Anyone who calls themselves a U2 fan really should have it in their collection.
i definitely agree!!!!! but u2 is evolving and they don't really go to past, we need to listen to new u2 , that's the life sentence!!!! hahah we can only look on you tube for old videos with tear in our eyes
t's falling, it's falling And outside a building comes tumbling down And inside a child on the ground Says he'll do it again And what am I to do? What in the world am I to say? @@johndrake2729 Sorry, I'm gonna get guitar nerdy on you here... In the last few years since I posted that comment, I've done some research on this. There seem to be two trains of thought about the Sonex: The first holds that Edge borrowed or rented this guitar for this performance (and a few others around the time where he was photographed playing it). The second idea is that he picked it up on tour as a less-expensive way to see if he could get along with a Les Paul. Shortly after this, he bought the white LP that would feature heavily on the "War" album, and which he would play for the next ~30 years (until he auctioned it off to raise funds for musicians who lost instruments during Hurricane Katrina). Either one is a fairly logical assumption, since you won't see any videos or pictures of him performing on a Sonex outside of a specific period in 1982. It seemed to appear out of nowhere and disappear just as quickly. I doubt very much that he played it in the studio; if he wanted that humbucker sound in 1981 when the "October" album was recorded, he probably would have just reached for his Explorer. That version doesn't sound at all like a Strat to me, though I could be wrong--some of Edge's Strat tones sound as full as a Les Paul, especially in the "October" era, so it's certainly debatable. Apologies for all the unsolicited information. I just... do that sometimes.
@@johndrake2729 That scans to me, since he played the Strat live when performing most of the songs from the album. I think the Explorer was only used on a couple of tunes.
Ik ben op zoek naar de Belgische fotograaf die op de dag in Torhout foto's heeft gemaakt van Bono toen hij van het podium naar de geluidstoren op het middenveld liep...
Well I DO call myself a U2 fan, and remain in disagreement with you. I do have it in my collection, for the record. And I stand by my position, having listened to the entire catalogue. Call it ridiculous if you will, but you have only your opinion to back it up, as I have mine.
I agree with the people that say U2 have only gotten worse. I like them up until AB. Zooropa had its moments, after that it gets from bad to worse. the last 3 records sees them a pale shadow of their former self. There's nothing amateurish about their early stuff, they'd been playing 6 years by the time this show was played and in fact their early stuff is more complex, just different style thats all. The edge was a far more inventive and interesting player from boy up to JT than he was later on
I can't change the world
But I can change the world in me
I love that line! So true and realistic.

Their best album
There aren't frontmen like young Bono anymore, walking to the crowd, climbing up the stage...
In lieu of all the bs in the world...Rejoice! Praise God!!

I listened to it recently and it really holds up well!
The war album was the first U2 album I ever bought
Every single time this makes my Life
October… IMO their best album. They should go back to the whole post-punk type thing on their next album.
yes i will follow and ua-cam.com/video/_blP9ZCXseo/v-deo.html are so punk

I love this song, so happy I discovered them right at their beginning, they were amazing !
The Edge's guitar solo is amazing! U2 is the best!

Those were the good O'l days for sure.
I wish I was born then...

October is their underrated gem. I have always loved this song. Thanks for sharing: I didn’t know they had done Rejoice live!
ITS SO GOOD.
The Edge playing a Gibson Sonex? WTF?!?! Thanks for sharing!
before he could afford a les paul?
Never heard of a Gibson Sonex. I thought he recorded the studio version with a Strat.

The Instrumental part from 2:30 !!! Just can't stop it!!!

@Novacoma They've been great all along, though 1980-81 is my favorite U2 period by far.

I love that the flag is attached to an actual twig.

Like it. Hope they had some proof with them for the bar after the gig!
2020-2021 COVID-19 pandemic and everything it entails ... REJOICE!
i think theyre peak was captured in the movie rattle and hum...bonos voice was almost without flaw
WAR came out in 1983.
bol316 the guitar Edge is using is a ,Gibson Les paul studio.

@ZooropaTV U r right
Adam Clayton had hair!

I'am trolling

Rejoice, not trolling
Want U2 back on their tracks :)
Great band!
sulzer73 not fucking good. Death is only a pass i give.
sound crew bought a new delay that week then
I think there was something wrong with Bono's voice during that concert. He sounds more British in this performance.
Looooooooow tuning D: but still amazing
that'a the same les paul from the with a shout video they shot in san francisco, i guess
I wonder why they detuned so low for this concert. fantastic song though!
oly crap was he young
They look a bit underage here.
very mad
What is that Gibson model?
Its a Gibson Sonex, i think the most underrated Gibson guitar. Its cool to me!

Well I know one, Billie Joe from Green Day :)
..some idiot at the mixing board cut Edge's guitar volume till the solo.

Yes. Boy, October, War... the rest fail in comparison🤷🏼♂️
Unforgettable fire... Joshua tree certain songs... achtung baby, and like 3 songs on Zooropa are amazing
I feel the opposite way..but just an opinion. The first albums are okay but too amature for my taste
