@@danpreston564 Not in all cases. Cambridge cam - First clip, try going AROUND the round about. The two cyclists, yeah they should have looked, but also for 3 years now have had the right of way at junctions, so maybe it's time to read up on your Highway Code.
Cyclists have priority only if there is a cycle lane, they are on the main carriageway or markings say otherwise. Looks like the cyclists had give way markings in both clips. It is unclear but with the double give way the second _couldve_ been the cycle lane but poorly marked In any case I, like yourself by sounds of it, would’ve been ready to give way and not given it a second thought 👍

6:47 I don't know the rules in the UK, but here in Germany the driver in the car would be 100% at fault. You saw the bicycle and a second later you forgot about it...?
It depends on whether the cycle lane has give way markings, if it does then the cyclist has to give way to traffic approaching from the right as is the norm for UK roundabouts.
It's amazing how even the worst drivers always remember how to drive , how not to go through red lights, not to use phones and always use indicators when there's a police car behind them.
No, it's what you're supposed to do ALL of the time! If not overtaking or turning right, you should be in the foremost left lane! So says the highway code. (And turning right from a motorway is somewhat difficult!)
Cambridge cam - when pulling in to a parking bay in a car park expect people to open doors - also forward parking really? learn to reverse park its safer as you move in to the bay slower and also safer when pulling out - also the pug was at the obstruction before you so slow down
I forward park if i have large items or a lot of shopping to load in my boot. Its better than trying to fit a trolley between two parked cars, or find someone has parked upto your bumper, and you now have to drive out of a bay partially.
2:07 Whilst going 20 in a 50 is a problem you'd literally just entered a 50 and were going around a blind corner. Did you really expect her to be flooring it the moment she went through that sign? She might have carried on like that for miles but other than being perhaps slightly on the slow side (30 might have been more appropriate) the fact she wasn't doing 50 within 3 seconds of going past the sign isn't an issue here.
Camera car should respect and take care of older drivers. If the old lady has not got the freedom to drive independently because of bullies like you forcing her to drive faster then she feels safe then it will be life changing for her.
6:32 you go around a rounderbout not straight over, IF he had gone around and not over the white central disc he would not have nearly hit him (Yes he have right of way but only if you adhere to the highway code, which he did not)
The cyclist would have still ploughed on regardless, and probably had even less chance of seeing the cammer if the cammer has swung it wide around the blob. The cyclist was just lucky due to the timing of the cammer's turn not being a second sooner.
The cyclist may have a give way but the car also has a responsibility to check his path is clear before crossing the carriageway and entering the side road. It's almost like the rare four way stop where no one has priority.

Yep. You can see other cars emerging before the corsa so it's pretty safe to assume there will be others.
7:03 cyclists and pedestrians now have right of way at those junctions. You must stop and wait for them to cross, dosnt mater if they are riding incorrectly or not paying attention. This new rule is constantly catching drivers out to be fair though.

The cyclist also has a responsibility to check the way is clear, it's called personal responsibility and the HC code is clear on this. While I agree it's a good thing to protect vulnerable road users it's give the idiot minority the incorrect belief that they're just allowed to strident in front of vehicles on the road and they have no responsibility for themselves. Seen it happen a lot now and it's concerning.
I agree, but....... The HC is very clear all road users have to exercise personal responsibility in keeping themselves safe which is why although pedestrians can walk in the middle of the road if they so choose they don't.
I’ve always said every cyclist should drive a car in Cambridge for a day and vice versa every motorist should ride a bike. I learned to drive in Cambridge back in the late 80s so became very aware of cyclists and their antics. Also as a learner driver my instructor told me that many of the students come from other countries and be double aware that they will not necessarily be on the correct side of the road and understand fully our road laws. I think the same could be said for some of the motorists in this film.
Whilst the lady with the buggy on the bike should have checked, she has right of way under the new Highway Code rules. All cyclists and pedestrians have the right of way at junctions and the driver should have known this, and should have waited.
04:05 the cyclist wasnt knocked off.. the cyclist wasnt even filtering... it looks more like he was crossing the road walking the bike across - you can see the cyclist through the window of the van gesturing ... what it looks like is the van wanted to turn right and the cyclist wasnt moving, so the van driver then drove forward and hit his bike, which then fell... the cyclist was upright at all times. clearly visible at all times during the clip
You openly admit you’re going to fast at 2:34 yet blame another driver. It’s not anyone’s right of way but lowering your speed and road position would have allowed you both to pass through safely.
Look, if you see someone driving under the speed limit and you're annoyed, that's really on you if you can pass safely. Just leave them alone, give them a wide berth, and pass when you can. No big deal. And it's a parking lot for Pete's sake-ya' know-people getting in and out of their cars is expected so don't go whipping into open slots because people are more important than how quickly you get to your weekly shop.
1:56 Amazed at the lack of comments on this clip but that’s probably due to Cambridge Cams incompetence. Hardly “Totally crazy and unnecessary” if it was an old lady. Just because the limit is 50mph doesn’t mean you HAVE to drive at that speed. Driving 20mph in a 50 is only dangerous if dickheads don’t overtake properly. Yes, it can be frustrating but it’s not illegal.
2:30 still puts his clip on here despite acknowledging he’s going far too fast, likely because he’s oblivious to the fact the car coming the other way wouldn’t be expecting anyone to be driving that badly in a built up area.
6:51 she’s got headphones on I think as well but driver’s really must get used to giving way to cyclist and pedestrians. I have to walk across a junction to take my autistic child to school. I do not just step out and try to make the situation as free flowing as possible depending on where traffic is coming from. Just a few days ago I had the horn sounded after I had checked there was no-one indicating behind me. I have also been physically confronted after stepping out when I was unable to see a vehicle and then stopping as it was obvious he wasn’t going to stop, shaking my head and when he wound the window down and insulted me suggested he should read the highway code. I walked away but he stopped 100 yards along the road and blocked my path but then I think he realized I was not intimidated by him and was not going to engage. Eventually he just went away but everyone has to respect the more vulnerable even if the more vulnerable have not taken the care they should have. It’s the way the rest of society works (mostly) and it’s the way e should use the roads
I don't see the relevance of the speed limit if the driver is trying to get away from the police. People evading capture in vehicles are not exactly well known for obeying speed limits, red lights etc.
5:30 this is much worse on motorways. People doing under 60 in the middle lane, I overtake doing 70. Low and behold, that same driver is now going faster than me.
6:38 Cambridge cam. Both bikes look like they are on a shared cycle/pedestrian path. I have a question. Now the safety hieirachy says pedestrians, then cycles have priority under certain circumstances. Here it looks like the cycles have priority. Although I do see the 'giveway' line for the first bike. I would be interested in the correct answer.
rule 140 - cyclist has priority... Cycle tracks are routes for cyclists that are physically protected or located away from motor traffic, other than where they cross side roads. Cycle tracks may be shared with pedestrians. You should give way to cyclists approaching or using the cycle track when you are turning into or out of a junction (see Rule H3). Be prepared to stop and wait for a safe gap in the flow of cyclists before crossing the cycle track, which may be used by cyclists travelling in both directions.
@ yep, the cammer is in the wrong. The cyclist had priority to cross the junction there - as would a pedestrian crossing. It's a new-ish update to the Highway Code to bring cyclists in line with pedestrians crossing at side roads. Not all drivers are aware. However, it's very common practice in many other countries that turning vehicles yield to those going straight ahead at junctions.
6:50 terryfing is fact that you haven't got a clue who and when has got priority. Entirely your fault if any collision occurs. Lesson for you to be aware of bikers and pedestrians who don't pay attention as you may be jailed for causing death by careless/dangerous driving if such situation turns ugly
Sorry re 50mph limit it is only a maximum speed not a requirement, drivers can drive anywhere up to that speed if they like , why not just overtake and be happy I feel sure that when you get to a 30mph zone you keep well within the speed limit !
2:07 I take a single carriage road on my commute that is 80km/h for some part, and 100km/h for most. I often encounter drivers doing 30-40km/h below 100km/h, usually driven by older drivers, or those in their own world with probably no awareness of what is going on around them. The road itself is difficult to overtake on due to continuous traffic coming the opposite way, and parts that have No Overtaking signs anyway. Depending on volume, when I am stuck behind these (other vehicles in front being held up too) I see the queue behind gradually getting longer. It really bugs me, and I'm sure other drivers are miffed. I get that lorries and some vans have restricted speed limits, and might not be able to get up to at least 80 in these zones. Tractors are even slower. Some will have the decency to move over to allow faster traffic pass, but most don't do this.
The clue was the cars on the inside lane had given way to the corsa but camer car had no idea what was going on 😢 And yes it was embarrassing posting shit driving of yourself 😂👍👍

Because there aren't any police on the roads or on the beat anymore. I know a person who has driven around for years with no tax, MOT, or insurance, despite being reported several times. This person is also a well known drink driver, he actually drove to the hospital to visit his drunk wife after a day of drinking and he had his kids in the car. The police do nothing!!
4:58 "right of way" please change your attitude. Right of way does not exist in the UK. Every road user has a DUTY to avoid collisions. Yes the red van appears to be at fault, but at no point does the cyclist have "right of way"
I agree. Watching this a few times, the cars had left a gap so the van could get out, the guy on the bike filled this gap to stop him. The bike could have probably drove passed him whilst the van waited for a gap, but decided not to as it was 'his right of way'. Yes the guy in the van should have looked before pulling out, but the guy on the bike should realise that he is more vulnerable and pride should never take precedents over that.
@bustestlucloc4630 I don’t have to explain my reasoning about anything thank you, especially when someone demands my explanation. But bottom line, if it were to have been a motorcyclist getting rammed into, then no one would be bleating as to how it would be his fault would they.
At 4:10, it looks like it is difficult to say who was to blame here but to me, the cyclist put himself in a vulnerable spot, maybe he was in a blind spot from the van driver.
I know some A pillars can be wide but at that distance it wouldn't block a whole person. I'm guessing, mainly because I've experienced it myself, that 100% of the driver's attention will have been on looking for a gap from the left. Once he has the gap he's moved forwards without checking back to his right where the cyclist has placed himself in the path of the van. Poor road awareness all round.

No good being in the right but killing your self or your child in the process. Everyone had a duty for their own safety regardless of fault.
Funny that, when there's 5 police vehicles with blues and twos, absolutely everyone on the motorway gets right over to the left lane? So they DO know!
It's amazing how even the worst drivers always remember how to drive , how not to go through red lights, not to use phones and always use indicators when there's a police car behind them.
Isn't that what you're supposed to do when you see police lights and hear sirens?
No, it's what you're supposed to do ALL of the time!
If not overtaking or turning right, you should be in the foremost left lane!
So says the highway code.
(And turning right from a motorway is somewhat difficult!)
Cambridge cam - when pulling in to a parking bay in a car park expect people to open doors - also forward parking really? learn to reverse park its safer as you move in to the bay slower and also safer when pulling out - also the pug was at the obstruction before you so slow down
I forward park if i have large items or a lot of shopping to load in my boot. Its better than trying to fit a trolley between two parked cars, or find someone has parked upto your bumper, and you now have to drive out of a bay partially.
pulling in forward can be tricky if you want to put the shopping into the boot.
Watching the first clip, I’m quite sure the Audi driver getting a speeding ticket is the least of his worries!!
50 mph is a limit not actual

The cyclist also has a responsibility to check the way is clear, it's called personal responsibility and the HC code is clear on this. It's no good having a dead child and saying "but I was in the right", and yes I know about H3 but you still have to check that other people know about it. @@Holycurative9610 it is a cycle track and it does not have give way markings for cycles in that direction, so the cyclist has full priority to go ahead over a turning vehicle.

Hierarchy of road users
Children, older adults and those with disabilities and other pedestrians are at the top, followed by cyclists and horse riders. Road users with the potential to cause the most harm bear the greatest responsibility to keep others safe.

Any vehicle without brakes should not be allowed on the road! This should include bikes(fixed wheeled bell ends) and mongobility scooters too!
Mr Goodman falls off the slip road at 10 mph and complains about other drivers

rule 140 - cyclist has priority...
@@shm5547so basically Cambridgecam is in the wrong.
1:50 imagine posting that, embarrasing for the cammer.

Hopefully you show a little more common sense in future and not write utter tosh
