I take a different view on WHY France wants ammunition made in Europe. It's true the bucks rattle around the Europeon economy, and that's important. But it is also important Europe not have to go to Asia to buy ammunition to fight Asia. And empty green just held up the ammunition from America for 6 months, and could have done worse, and may yet.
It's important Europe make ammunition.
My thoughts exactly! If my house was on fire, I'd rather wait a few months for a European made fire engine to arrive than rely upon one made in Asia.

The problem with manufacturing weaponry or munitions in Ukraine ATM is the unreliability of inputs (power, human resources etc.) and the site being a military target. In contrast drone manufacture is small scale, diversified and can be assembled in basements.

One of the 'interesting' ways that might bring down those Orlan-10 drones would be string on a reel.
If you run over string with a lawnmower, it will invariably seize it up, whether it's an electric or petrol mower, because the string is drawn into the spindle and binds it up.
Flying a drone in front with a trailing string on a payoff reel would draw the string into the propellor, then unwind the entire string from the reel, and bind up the Orlan prop.
It's so cheap, it would surely be worth at least trying....

Ukraine is getting 18 more PzH2000 in late 2025 / early 2026 from Germany.
They also get 18 Boxer AGM later this year and 18 more in 2025.
At least the Chinese company has been kind enough to build its drone plant in Krasnodar, which ironically is well within range of Ukraine's drones that have been used to great effect against oil facilities there.
Why not allow UKR companies set up in Poland to build their military vehicles and then just ship them across the border?

4th time of posting this comment but always seems to get removed. If turtle tanks look like sheds then they don't look like tanks and a drone that has been cut-off from base by EW will not be able to find it's target. I suspect turtle tanks are more subtle than you're giving them credit...
I don't know that they are subtle, but they are obviously having a functional benefit if they are increasing in use.

What if invested assets are lost from the potential loss of Ukraine as a whole? With the current shift in momentum and lack of defense lines, shouldnt NATO invest in themselves for direct engagement and liberation?
Because im worried about 2 major problems
Lack of defenses
Lack of reinforcements due to mobilization issues.
Those need to be solved if we can even hope for a continued and prolonged hold out. Russia has fresh prison death squads. Ukraine soldiers are tired with no rotation.

An interesting situation has developed in Niger where the incoming Russian contingent shares the Airbase 101 in Niamey with the departing American contingent. A video is circulating where US troops in uniform, apparently males (unless they have some pronouns) dance with female Russian troops. On a lighter tone, trust the concerned department keeps an eye on this as the US troops, sexually frustrated due to the long stay in a strict Muslim country, could be honey trapped by the Russian females who could be operatives of the infamous GRU (Russian military intelligence).

The Soviets/Russians have a saying, "escalate to deescalate." it's working well.
It only works because Ukraine is suffering a manpower problem. They are paying heavily for their escalation as they are loosing approximately 950-1050 soldiers a day sometimes more. There are bodies lying rotting in the fields. Quite shocking actually.

JP mentions "Ukainian refugees....having their status as a refugee confirmed on a case to case basis" this time in relation to what hungary and the UNCR guidelines. I get tired of saying this and have done a youtube podcast on it myself which JP obviously hasn't watched. The EU issued a directive last year urging its member states to issue residency permits to Ukrainian citizens. Germany has done this and I presume the other states have done so too. A press report issued by the german Homeoffice says that Ukrainian citizens resident in Germany are not obliged to claim refugee status according to the Geneva Convention on refugees or any directives issued by the UNHC. That means no "case to case" evaluation of their claim. They all have a limited residency permit until 04,05,24. They don't have to register with the Ausländer Amt as would normally be the case. They are sujbject to german law which forbids forcing somebody to fight with arms (german justice minister). Which more or less excludes extradition. If you want know more see the Puigdemont case. Hungary just seems to be doing what the EU wants here.
If only if the Russian troops captured all Western military equipments that were supplied to Ukraine, it would have present 0.87% of the overall equipments that West would have lost and represented 1.63% of technologies lost to Russia with the captured equipments and accounted 1.24 % of real and direct financial lost of the West.
But the West, esp European countries will have to spent approx 18-25% of money for 5 years plan to boost just its preparing efforts and not to mention to cost much more to spend on potential/possible a real war with Russia, excl. lost of life and other horrible tragic.
Finland increasing military production says nothing about EU... like USA is 60 times bigger... we are producing 100k arty shells a year going for 200k and those numbers are 6m and 12m a year if you scale it to USA(yes its all types of ammo). USA just came out with goal to make 1.2m a year I think it was only 155mm but still my point is that Finland doing something does not state that EU is waking up. When UK, France or Germany start talking about making 10 new factories then we are talking about waking up...
Sadly what we do up here in the north is just normal, like look at our history... look at the other Uralic peoples... Its not like the Kremlin is a "new danger"... As 6 years old I had to listen to stories that you now as adults are starting to understand by watching Ukraine...
