The guitar tones and general sound and structure definitely💯 remind me of the the libertines , fello Scots Franz Ferdinand and new Yorkers the strokes , them bands must of been into this band I've just checked these guys out as I've read about them and heard them being name checked in music bios like the John robb stone roses bio and Tim Burgess bio so always the cool ones so I've finally got round to checking them out and I'm really loving it , I was 14 Wen britpop was peaking so I grew up on indie (hip hop aswell I'm not a guitar purest) and I love hearing the bands that are the backbone of indie so I'm gonna go thru all there catalogue , thank you John robb and Tim Burgess ✌️👊
I’m not an expert, but I would wonder if installing Toasters would require special mounting or even modification. These are most likely the Supertrons from some 70s Gretsch models.
Bit stupid of Edwyn to ditch James Kirk and the others in his wish to change Orange Juice to a Haircut 100 clone act. It may have gained him one top ten hit but that was all and it wasn't worth it. The first album is glorious, the rest not so much.
Let's not ignore the 3rd, ''THE Orange Juice'', but i see what you mean; in fact, i noticed the same 40 years ago, but then i bought RIU and found it so complete and diverse, full of joyful music, it kind of made me forget for a while that excessively Northern Soul pop funky groove. It's a pity Texas Fever is just half-an-album. All the different formations of Orange Juice, and the rest of Postcard's roster proved the world Scottish groups ruled. Btw, are you a relative of Mike's, who played keyboards on YCHYLF? Three Cheers!
@@karllux-d6g I'm being a bit harsh on the other OJ albums; actually I rather like them all. Edwyn was always a great songwriter, regardless of his professional decisions. But YCHYLF is the best of them, I think, with a huge contribution from Kirk, and from its producer too, who made all the right choices. I'm not related to Mike, no.
I've listened to and liked lots of bands and lots of music over the years but Orange Juice hold a special place in my heart.
there a special band. Edwyn sounds like Stweie Griffen tho lol

exceptional songwriter and musician. And still going strong in the face of adversity. Inspirational human being Edwyn!
I will listen to and love this band till my dying breath
Thank God I got to see this band @ Colchester back in '84. They were perfect.
So sad.. a total joy gone... Scotland forever xxx
best version of rip it up on the tube !!
Edwyn and the bassist are top shelf for certain!!
Malcolm Ross, Aztec Camera and Josef K are his other bands if you want to check them out
@@benmayman2274 They're all great.
Zeke!!!!
@@benmayman2274 also he released two solo albums in the 90s, both very good.
I'm viewing this excellent video of Orange Juice at their best in 1983. I liked this Scottish band in the eighties. Cool pop music.
classic
Does Edwyn's guitar have Rickenbacker toaster pups installed?

I thought they were Filtertrons but you're probably right.
Just amazing.
Inspirational

First time for Orange Juice. More please

Switch
Is that Nick Haywood on base
wayne90079 No, David McClymont I think.
No it’s the great David McClymont
Leonardo…?
Stay strong Edwyn
Let's be honest...this man cannot sing!
You really don't want to hear their version of Al Green's L.O.V.E. in that case....
Still rad though
It's said Hendrix wasn't keen to sing until he heard Dylan. Singing does not equal talent.
true, but he can sing just enough.
Bad singing is underrated
