They were in the 2021 ALDS. This is crazy
The Mariners from 2001 to 2004 went from a 116 win season to a 63 win season, a loss of 53 games over three years. The White Sox look like they’re going to beat that dubious honor unless the team find a way to win 40 this season.
There are 15 teams in the American League.
The White Sox are 27.5 games out of 14th place.
Lol
😂
The only thing that could potentially be more embarrassing as a franchise would be to throw a World Series.
Not Joe!
Been there done that
Oh come on, that was last century!
@@michaelt312 say it ain’t so Joe
@@cstorm911, I think Guaranteed Low Interest would be more appropriate for Sux Field.
This is 100% on owner Jerry Reinsdorf
As a White Sox fan this has been a season of jaw droppingness from me.
Switch to the Cubs.
They are 20 games behind the next worst team, the Marlins and Rockies at 51 wins. They did somehow knock around the Yankees who are like 50 wins ahead of them.
And there’s no sense of direction with the franchise as far as building for the future. When the Orioles went into their long rebuild and were losing over 100 games a year, they were building their farm system and it ended up becoming jam packed with great young players who are now all in the majors. As a result, the team is now a contender again and will be for many years to come.
@@nickbarcheck1019 No hate on the Cubs but the Sox are my team always. I'm a New York based Sox fan. So not growing up in Chicago it's not a loyalty to the city itself but just to my team.
@@Jay7682 why don't you like the Yankees or Mets
jerry reinsdorf and chris getz everyone 👏👏👏take a bow!
The Cleveland Spiders is the worst team but the difference is the owner own a stake in another team and shipped all the best players from the Spiders.
The White Sox owner should be forced to sell the team because this season is historically bad and unacceptable.
This could happen. Remember, Jerry Reinsdorf is trying to get the State of Illinois/City of Chicago to fund a new ballpark for the Sox. Either entity could make a sale of the team a condition for government help in this venture.
@@josephosheavideos3992 While dumber things have happened, I would be shocked if they get funding for a new stadium. Who would want to fork over a billion for the worst team in MLB history (That didn't have a conflict of intrest with management).
The royals are good this year and still don’t want it. Wouldn’t in Chicago either that stadium’s beautiful. Fix the area around stadiums in Kansas City. Don’t run away from the problem
The owners pay the salary of Rob Manfred. That’s not gonna happen so easily.
@@kobyschechter8163 lol he’s a puppet
I’ve seen enough as a White Sox fan
agreed, I only follow their games when I put money on their opponent, which I will honestly say has been quite fruitful
This is their only job too. Ballplayers had second jobs up until 1979. Their excuses must be sooo good
At the time of this video, the White Sox don't have a single league average player (OPS +100) on their roster (per Chuck Garfien).
I feel like they're gonna trade Robert and he's gonna have a resurgence. Kind of like Jazz Chisholm has had. High talent player stuck on a bad team going nowhere. It isn't easy being at your best when there's basically no stakes at all.
I mean they had a couple they traded
Relegation (and promotion) should be a thing in MLB
All major sports 😆
@@garrysaint-vil725 It would be sweet and more dramatic to watch
I am a long-time Cubs fan. I am gutted for the White Sox fans and players. Reinsdorf doesn't seem to care about his teams. No excuses. In the 80s , the White Sox had equal billing and popularity with the Cubs. Since then, the White Sox have squandered their standing on and off the field and not retained fans. WTF? Chicago deserves two competitive teams.
It is going to be a long off-season for the White Sox!!
Even as a Cubs fan, I feel sorry for White Sox fans. This is REALLY bad.
as a Cubs fan, i don't. i can't stop laughing! meanwhile the Cubs team just threw a complete game NO HITTER TONIGHT
Two facts about the 2024 White Sox awfulness that are mindblowing:
The AL Central is 38 games below a .500 winning percentage.
Aside from the White Sox, every other team in the AL Central have a winning percentage above .500.
I’m no believer in that WAR stat stuff (what the hell is a “replacement player” and who decided what this phantom is capable of) but if one wants to believe its accuracy, the highest rated Sox player in the lineup is Luis Robert Jr. at 0.5
14/33/.216 and 118 K’s in 81 games. 2 E’s in 78 contests as their CF - so yeah, not exactly Murderer’s Row in Chicago.
The owner is approaching 90 and has been hiring internally since 2000 or before, he therefore gives a pass on hiring the best available and the best available will not work for a 90 year old losing owner at this point.
Pour one out for Gavin sheets. His dad was on the 1988 orioles that started 0-21, now Gavin’s on this team. What a mess.
At least he and his dad can talk through the experience together? XD
Any reason why J. Reinsdorf isn’t in the thumbnail under this CHI catastrophic failure?
Someday, a movie will be made about this team titled : “ The Bad News Sox. “
You're not funny
4-41 in last 45... lol
Stinky 💩 👃
It doesn't even make sense how bad the White Sox are right now.
The players have to be totally demoralized and beaten down at this point. Probably just mailing it in and dying for the season to end.
it honestly doesn't. no one on the team (entire roster) has a league average OPS+
The white sox existed before 1901...the spiders last year was 1899 and they lost on purpose cause they were moving and the owner gave away good players the year before
That 500 white sox team 2 years ago seems to die for now
Smh
The players are trying all right...
TRYING: [adjective]
extremely annoying, difficult, or the like; straining one's patience and goodwill to the limit.
Someone should tell the White Sox owner that Miami already has a team
😂 Love the reference.
**This** is Jerry Reinsdorf's legacy. If the Portland Trailblazers didn't already have Clyde Drexler when the 1984 NBA draft took place, Jerry Reinsdorf would be known for exactly what he is...the professional sports equivalent of a slumlord.
Ok... let's talk about hockey. Because why not looking at other sports ? In 1974-75, the Washington caps had a season of 8 wins 67 LOSSES and 5 ties. It was an expansion team...
They're on track to finish lower than the 2019 Detroit Tigers, who went 47-114 that year.
They'd need to go 16-6 over the next 22 games to tie.
2003 Tigers were 43-119.
The as last year won 50 games..this white sox team might lose 15 more games
There on pace to be the worst team EVER.
The error committed against the Orioles was unforgiveable
I was at Game 3 of the 2021 ALDS where they came back and beat the Astros. If anyone told me “this will be this groups peak” I would’ve laughed you out of the stadium alongside everyone else.
If you're going to be bad, be the best at it.
If your bad, you may as well be trademously bad
Crazy how bad ESPN is now
Greeny is pretty good.
@@amonrodriguez3518, not as bad as the Sux.
@@nickbarcheck1019 was. Before he bailed on the better mike and turned into a giant tool
NBA: you may go 6-76 the pistons almost broke futility record wise NFL-0-17,NHL: 20 pts and this is unacceptable to go 129 losses
You have to take in account the fact that the Spiders were set up to fail by their owner.
Exactly, the massive conflict of interest of the owners owning both the Spiders and Perfectos and pawning off all the Spiders best players to the Perfectos contains a huge asterisk for worst team ever.
Even going by win percentage this team is likely to outstrip the 1916 A's and 1935 Braves.
give it time, you saw how bad the Marlins were and they managed to go to the World Series and won twice. So, Chicago needs to invest in players, get good scouts, and have support. Not every team is going to be good year-round. I understand people's frustration. Trust me I had several frustrations with the Mets but you gotta hold on.
marlins had the benefit of draft tanking, that isn't allowed anymore. White Sox will have the TENTH pick next year
The Marlins have never been as bad as this Chicago White Sox team in their history. No team from the 1990s has ever been this bad.
It’s sad the team sunk so fast. Ownership just let it happen and us fans are left in the dust
I had a feeling after they lost to the Rays in 08 that it was going to be a while before they would make the playoffs again I had that same feeling again after the 2021 ALDS.
They had an MVP and a guy win a batting title just a couple of years ago. Both guys have been DFAd. Something happened and the whole franchise forgot how to play.
This is probably not just the worst mlb team ive ever seen but the worst team in the big 4 north american pro sports leagues ive ever seen. And ive seen the 08 Lions, 17 Browns, 12 Bobcats, even the 03 Tigers.
Most of those spiders were likely factory workers and baseball was a partvtime job.
Stop counting records from the 1800’s
Especially when theres the asterisk of the owners conflict of interest with the 1899 Spiders.
The fall off from 2021 to 2024 must be studied
The collapse seemed to come out of nowhere though🤷♀️
Still a white sox fan no matter what
They were 1901 team it has to be their 124th season
Not ever because the Cleveland Spiders are a thing that exists. In 1899 they lost 134 games out of only 154 played. But yeah, in the modern era nobody was worse than the '62 Mets. The Sox would have to win 12 of their last 22 games to avoid at least tying that record. But the absolute most they could lose is 131, just short of the overall "record."
The Spiders had the conflict of interests excuse too, so in terms of a team with no excuses, the White Sox are the worst.
The Spiders owner was also literally transferring any player who showed any talent to his other team that year. The Spiders were a glorified AAA farm team that year.
They have lost on average enough games to make every other team 3 over .500 for playing them
No way they win 12 of 23 games
No chance for sure lol
I'm not sure they can win 5.
The 2003 Detroit Tigers are rooting for the 2024 Chicago White Sox to lose 11 more games to reach the 120 loss mark.
The pistons just lost a million games in a row the browns had such a bad 3 seasons winning 5 games total...let's not act like there haven't been bad hockey teams before
But remember there’s no tanking in baseball ⚾️ as there’s a lottery! 😂😂😂 the stupidest idea ever
This isn't just bad, it's shut down the franchise bad.
White Sox’s and the Oakland A’s owner are the worst owners in sports right now
The White Sox will surpass the 1962 NY Mets for the worst record in modern MLB history. I feel really bad for their fans. No city and fan base deserves a team this horrible. I’m a huge NY Islanders fan. The first year expansion team in 1972-73 only won 12 games in a 78 game season.
And the MLB wonders why viewer numbers go down. When there are teams like the White Sox, Rockies, Marlins, and several more, what gives those fanbases reasons to watch when those teams were pretty much eliminated in May. What’s ever the point of watching then? The MLB seriously has to fix this issue or the viewership will get even worse. It’s a dying sport…
All leagues have horrible bottom feeders. The NFL has the Panthers, Commanders and Patriots last year and the NBA had the Pistons and Wizards.
@@moonjelly5 Yes, but in the NFL teams are still in the mix of things even the playoffs near the end of the season. NFL is a much better product with parity.
Whereas in the MLB where attendance has been an issue, who is going to watch games when their team is way out of the playoffs in May.
At least in the NBA you can watch a bad team play a good team and be entertained by the superstars.
@@themcadamsminute8494 You can do the same thing with MLB you do with the NBA. You can go watch a bad team play the Dodgers/Astros/Yankees/etc. and see Ohtani/Verlander/Judge/etc.
@@moonjelly5 The same three teams that are good year in and year out and that’s like three players. If you went and surveyed people most could name 8-10 great nfl nba players. How many could say the same about mlb players.
Here again, it’s about quality. There’s way too many games that give the mlb a very meaningless feeling in the middle of the season.
NFL every game matters and has intrigue to watch. Same can be said for nba after the all star break.
Look at the bright side now the 1919 blacksox team is not the most famous at throwing games team ever.
The 2024 team isn’t throwing any games though. They just played their hearts out against the Mets last weekend.
They can’t throw games lol, they can’t even draft higher than tenth! 😂
They could double their wins and still be in least
im 43 i played 2nd base, ill play for the sox for free!!!
They should hire Theo as an advisor
isnt he in the League Office now?
@@Bu11yMagu1re Yeah but he can step over to the white sox ,happens much
Absurd for a pro team to be this bad.
They could double their wins and still be in last
The 1962 mets could soon be off the hook. At least they had an excuse.
That “excuse” is a bad excuse in my opinion.
I mean, the Diamondbacks went 5-40 in 2021, but we've forgotten about them as they quickly rebounded
Ya but there was a plan there. White Sox don’t know wtf they’re doing
Wow! I had to look that up because I didn't believe you. I didn't think anyone could be as bad as this White Sox team.
@@johnperrigo6474 Those Diamondbacks did not have 109 losses by Sep. 4 tho, and they still threw a no hitter
@@thylacine519 ah yes and where is he now. Crazy how much can change in a few short seasons, or even season to season.
When you make the 62 mets look competent you kow you suck
Tony LaRussa should have stayed as manager
He could not have done so. Remember, the 2022 team (which finished 81-81) caused him to need a pacemaker implanted, ending his second managerial stint.
@ESPN The one time you do remember the White Sox exist and its about THIS? you people make me sick
5-45 in their last 50 games. 😂😂
They are not even lovable losers like the 1962 Mets (an expansion team managed by the always colorful & quotable Casey Stengel). The White Sox are awful - and boring. They should have brought back the shorts during the summer to make things fun!😂
Will the White Sox have the #1 overall pick next year?
They can’t get higher than 10th pick. In baseball starting last season big market teams like Chicago can’t pick higher than 10th in the draft.
Thing is also who or where or are the bright upcoming prospects in an historic bad season on this team. If they are going to be so awful bad why are you not playing as many rookie prospects as you can? This is the Worst Modern MLB team of all time and maybe the worst MLB team period. They cant score, they cant pitch much especially relief and fielding is poor. This is the most flawed professional sports team of all time from an owner who owned the Chicago Bulls 5 Championship team. What is up with that!!!
6 Championship Bulls teams.
Ha yah alarming he can let the Sox slip so badly and wont spend at the level he needs to support them.
Where is Berto right now LOL
This is definitely the worst MLB team since the expansion Mets in 1962. But it is not the worst sports team ever;
(NFL) The 2017 Cleveland Browns (0-16), the 2008 Lions (0-16), 1972/73 Houston Oilers (1-13 both years), 1982 Baltimore Colts (0-8-1), the expansion Bucs (0-14 in 1976 and 2-12 in 1977 [26 game losing streak in between])
(NHL) 1974-75 Washington Capitals (8-67-5), 1943-44 New York Rangers (6-39-5), 1992-93 San Jose Sharks (11-71-2), 1972-73 New York Islanders (12-60-6).
(NBA) 2012 Charlotte Bobcats (7-59), 1992-93 Dallas Mavericks (11-71), 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers (9-73), 1986-87 Los Angeles Clippers (12-70).
5 minutes of nothing said...... espn is 💩...... this is as bad as as a SAS show......
As a Cubs fan all I have to say to sox fans are Congratulations 👏 Southside Stand Up
♥️⚾
I think the White Sox end up with 40 wins on the season since they have 2 series against the Angels and 1 against the A’s to finish the season, and both of those teams are the worst in the AL, IF the White Sox weren’t so bad this year.
I feel the White Sox win 6-8 games total from those series alone.
Oakland is the fifth worst team in all of MLB and their winning percentage is nearly double that of the White Sox. That's how bad the Sox are. Lol
Oakland is playing well enough to sweep the Sox in both.
Shouldn't have fired Kenny Williams
you're insane, he was a huge part of the architecture of this franchise, a lot of the player development and scouting guys still in the system were hired by Kenny
Shouldn't have promoted Getz
You're kinda right. Imagine that sentence. They maintained solid mediocrity.
Kenny Williams was a symptom of a greater disease. The book Moneyball came out in 2003 and in the book the second omnipresent theme is how horrifically incompetent Kenny Williams was as a baseball executive. All of baseball knew that Kenny was incompetent for *at least* the last 20 years of his career but he kept his job because he was a shameless sycophant and Jerry Reinsdorf doesn't want executives, he wants shameless 'yes' men.
As a Cubs fan this is 😂😂😂😆
They went down after Anderson
