haha Me too! (obvoiusly!) This one is my favorite out of the orb weavers for this reason. The Aranues spiders are also good, but they don't usually sit full veiw in the middle of the web all day. Which is what makes these spiders stunning to find.
Yeah, the eggs are pretty hard to find. They camouflage very nicely into the plants it might be hanging on. The Argiope spiders tend to stay in one place all summer if they get enough food, and are not disturbed.
I am in southern Indiana. I work on an organic veggie farm, and we have a greenhouse infested with them. It started out as one egg sack a three years back, and ever since there's more and more. No significant predators in there and it's warm, so they live clear through November. We have become quite attached to the little gals, despite it looking like an arachnaphobes nightmare. They are fascinating little creatures. The controlled environment does wonders for them.
great videos. we had an argiope in my mom's garden for several summers when i was little. i remember looking at the web one morning and a grasshopper hopped right into it. what a display!
spider was like "damn, caught me a damn attack chopper! Better use caution." wasp was like "finally I have met my match in battle, I shall die with honor!"
The yellow garden spider does not live in very dense location clusters like other orb spiders such as the golden orb web spider. The yellow garden spider keeps a clean orderly web in comparison to the cluttered series of webs built and abandoned by groups of golden orb spiders.
Yeah, try looking again. They do sometimes move when disturbed, but ussually not to far. Though I have seen one of them move like 60 feet from her orriginal spot.
There are about a million of these wasps around where I live and they never sting anyone. They just fly away unless you hit em with some break cleaner.
That is beautiful. I especially like when she starts spinning the wasp to cocoon it. You should check out some of my Argiope Aurantia vids, I just got a Nikon D90 capable of HD video, and have been taking them at work.
well this confirms my suspicion ive been having over the last 3 or 4 years. my older brother found that spider in our backyard once and it was easily 2 or 3 times bigger than this one... havent seen one since though.
This wasp has been either injured or is close to death. The above spider may be able to take on a wasp half this size providing it is genuinely caught in its web. As can be seen from the above video the spider approaches the wasp with a great deal of caution. It would not dare mount an attack if a wasp this size started to struggle.
really? What state, because I really need to find some this year, but New York right now is proving to be a little to wet and harse for these spideys. I personally think the 3 hail storms killed alot of them.
@TetrisAnimeOtaku I wouldn't say that... I have seen extremely large ones before, but not too much larger than this one. Even this one was larger than average.
I believe that spider got lucky. Something similar to this happened at my house and the spider ended up getting stung in the head by a normal brown wasp. The wasp got out of the web and the spider died eventually.
No I don't think so. That looks like a pretty fair fight to me. Wasps kill lots of ground dwelling spiders but agst a web spinning spider, wasps are just as vulnerable as any other insects.
Sorry this is late. Chilean Fire Tarantulas are pretty much the same as Rose Hairs. Very easy to care for. The best site I can give you is this one. Whoever has one, and posts a video on it, just ask. They will give you more relyable info than petstores or most websites. Any other questions, just ask me. :) Thanks for watching my vids!!!
dude i love spiders too i want an garden spider like in ur video but they are not in my area i need a person like you to catch and send one to me ill pay for the large female like 14 dollars usd ok i live in torrance california does that help?
Does it make me a fucked up person to be one of those kids.. Who sees a Wolf spider web on my porch, and I'm COMPELLED to find an ant to flick in it o watch it get eaten? XD
i hate cicada killers they fly around and kill bees on the flowers around my house the big hornet comes in and grabs the bees sometimes it takes butterflies too :(
A writing spider? And such things live in the Northern States, in your common temperate climate like in Middle Europe? Well, I'm glad there are none in Germany, because this webbing must be tighter than the normal garden spider webbing. And I find either one very unpleasant to the touch, I would rather voluntarily touch feces that run full face in such a... hunting tool.
That's one overachieving orb-weaver! Usually the wasp would kill her, no contest. Good for you, spider! Quite a beauty, too. I love spiders.

@4:27 spider's like "wheeee!"

The dexterity in the spiders legs is beautiful
This one was in the Albany Pinebush Preserve in Upstate New York. Preserves are a great place to look for these.
spidey went with the old rope-a-dope. he fucked him up then made sushi
vylespewton 😂
Spider: haha what are you going to do now
Wasp:DAMN YOU!!!!

Argiope meets immense wasp ... fantastic shot

@addictedjun believe it or not, they are actually very docile! They are solitary wasps, a.nd solitary wasps are usually very docile!
@WillTheUnhuggable The Cicada Killer is a type of wasp. One of the largest wasps around!!!
