I would really appreciate seeing the horses walk after all the work, even just a few strides to see the improvement. Your school is a blessing to horses and the people who love and work with them.
My guess is that they're hoping for some improvement but not sure they want to lay all of this out I public. Not dissing the farrier here who did a great job with these messed up feet, but am sure he's holding his breath on this one.
Amazing transformation. This must be equivalent to me having new trainers with my caliper bars fitted... comfort must be overwhelming after the neglect. You talented farrier's are like angels. To the mare, happy trotting in your new shoes, you are such a beautiful animal you deserve the best, looks like you got it now. Happy Days. ♥🐴🐎
Boy, you said it sister The more care and attention you give your horse's feet, you'll be rewarded in the long run. That includes good nutrition as well!
First off turn off the speed video. I watch A LOT of horse trimming videos and never once have I said this is taking too long to watch... I very much enjoy the process... also I love the farrier's dialog regarding the horse's foot condition...and I'm from Idaho too... thank you
I had a horse who was trimmed (ONCE!) by a farrier who evidently didn't know a horseshoe from a hand grenade. He trimmed too far down, got blood, and the horse needed special treatment from then on. I got in touch with my regular farrier who took one look at him, whipped up a special shoe for him (for 65 dollars in 2000!) and he was absolutely sound. He pulled that shoe off on a gate once and within 15 minutes he was limping again. It was fixed in half an hour by my regular guy. So the fact that you can't watch them walk naturally doesn't mean they aren't LOADS better. It's probably just a newbie cameraman learning his trade.
Interesting shoe modification. What did you do and why? Would love to see them walk before and after. Also, after a major problem like this, how long before the horse leg muscles, tendons etc adjust to the changes?
with "founder" (analogous to bad arthritis) the horse will never fully recover, but the proper maintenance of the hoof can greatly relieve the pain of the damaged joint. Eventually the pain will get so bad the horse can't stand. The other hoof issues from neglect will usually recover with regular trimming and re-shoeing. (and proper regular exercise)

Absolutely amazing transformation and the relief has to be tremendous. Beautiful work and a huge thank you for helping the poor souls. I could never understand how someone could allow that to happen to any animal. I understand that sometimes people don’t have the resources but ask for help, the worst you could get is a no and ask someone else. ❤️✌🏻
I wish there was a way you could show us a follow-up on some of these horses. I would like to see if the trims helped just visually or if there was actually a long term improvement in their hooves and legs
Hi, that's easy to address as it would be too time consuming for him . However maybe I can shed some light for you. The Farrier caught this horse just before any really bad things were going to happen to its gate. The improvement in most cases happens immediately, sometime the horse even dances out of the joy of being able to move again. If you'd like any further questions just ask as I worked in the Equine industry and was looking to be a farrier until life changed things.
That’s what I was going to ask for: a look at the horse moving afterward. Even just walking a bit. I wonder if it might take a bit before the changed angle is settled into and old pain is completely resolved. Good that the horse’s foot bone wasn’t too twisted or degraded. The video shows an amazing transformation of the hooves. A symbol of the transformation of her life when she was finally cared for.
I think most of these are rescues who go off to new homes and will have other farriers caring for them, so unless their new owners choose to make them public we probably won’t see more. it’s good they have new homes and proper care, imo that’s the important thing.
Is it ok to shoe a horse immediately after correction and rectification of the neglected hoof/s, would it be ok to let it for a day or two before shoing so as to the animal to relax a bit and get used to the new and correct hoof shape... Kindly advice. 🙏
Many times the sole of the newly trimmed hooves, after neglect, can be prone to bruising walking on some surfaces, such as stones. The shoe elevates the hoof off direct contract with the ground and provides hoof stability. So yes, it's OK to shoe immediately.
Wow!!! Tough job on some really messed up feet!! BTW all you horsie fans out there, lack of conversation between the farrier and his equine client is more the norm than lots of talk. Personally I'd rather have a silent Sam working on my horse than chatty Cathy! I've had the privilege of watching some top farriers--most of them were not talkers. This doesn't mean they won't answer an intelligent question but, think about it, wouldn't you rather have someone concentrating on your horse rather than engaging in idle chitchat. However, I've never had any complain about asking if you can watch.
These videos tell me that your applied skills and abilities are much more than a trade/job. Noble work benefiting a noble animal. By the way, there is a song on YT "Blacksmith's Blues"/Bing Crosby that is a fun listen when you're taking a break.
01:11 What a fabulous attachment for the drill 🤗 Turn a grand disaster into a masterpiece in no time at all! How long did it take you to make the two front hooves? 3 hours?
I don't think people truly understand just how much time, effort, energy, and money goes into caring for a horse _before_ they get them. I know circumstances can change but you need to be able to adjust to them, even if it means making hard decisions.
An incredible job and you restored her ability to walk like a normal horse again. I just wished the entire video hadn't been so fast... left out some of the reason many of us come here and enjoy your videos. But with 4 holves to do I understand the reason. Loved the before and after photos.
How does a farrier know if he made all hooves the same length, uh, height, so that a horse's legs have the same length afterwards? Must be pretty difficult in general, and even more with neglected hooves which might have to be trimmed differently due to cracks and splinters like in this case.
She’s going to feel like a million dollars when you’re finished. What state she was in. It would have taken some time to get this bad. The owners should know better…….
When you own a horse you take on the responsibility for their health and welfare. If you can't care for the horse don't assume responsibility and neglect it, the horse will suffer.
I really dislike how you speed up all your videos. I don't care how long they last I want to be able to SEE the work you are doing. That is how you learn (and teach).
never really being around when horses are having the shoes put on, I have one question. Why do you bend over the nails on one side but twist them off on the other side of the shoe?? I've seen this several times and just wondered. Thanks...
spca; or an auction where horrific cruelty shows up but nothing is done about it, the animal gets sold and the cruelty owner gets the money instead of being charged with cruelty neglect!

Lordy! Keeping a horse's feet clean, trimmed and dry are #1 in horse care! Poor thing! Nice work!

The mare, to say she’s neglected, stands beautifully… & must feel so much benefit from her hoofs finally being trimmed to some normality
Nice job 🤛🏼

Founder (laminitis) certainly not similar to arthritis at all.

Good job 👍 sir hoping that will not happen again we have to love this horses no matter what God bless

That poor thing. I bet she feels so much better
I had no idea shoeing could be this customized. I’ve never seen the frog get covered before. Well done
That is a heartbar shoe that is usually used for horses that have laminitis.
show us more of the process, longer videos please!
I loved this video very therapeutic this farrier is amazing to get the Mares huffs looking soo good 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💕💕

Where do y'all find these horses? Rescues? Court cases? Somebody actually brought them in?
Now with a few chiropractic adjustments, this Mare will be 1000% better!! Yay!!
would have enjoyed the video more if there had been more real time instead of sped up
So the horses just stay there innately? They don’t mind someone work on their hooves and stuff?
Why aren’t the owners of these horses charged with animal cruelty with their names and pictures put all across the internet.
That makes a world of difference the horse must feel a lot better too
I like them speeded up, but this one was too much. The camera work is always good on this channel
Could you please not make the video fast forwarding? I think you are all great.
Questo cavallo è ' in sofferenza, perche' non c'e' abbastanza pulizia nelle stalle
The sound of the super speeded up hammering was oddly satisfying 😄😄
Mare be like. Love my pedicure.. thanks
no accelerated videos please it's really stressful and unpleasant, too bad it could have been pleasant
If your going to film something, please use a real camera and not your phone.
What is the black stuff you put on the hoof and what's the reason for doing this
Some captions or explanation of the process would be helpful.
They really need to use the Bionic Man sound affects when he speeds the video up like that lol
It would have been better if you explained what you are doing.
Possibly the ugliest feet I’ve seen. Any idea why the fist few were so bad?
So what’s happening here that allows it to get to this point? Is it neglect from the owners?
Bad welding. That is the least of your problems.
HOLY crap what a fine job, the owner should be ticketed
I would love to see them walk after you finish 😀🤗
Whoever owns these poor horses should be taken somewhere and well you know.
I hope the horse isn’t going back to the same person who neglected him or her
if you think that's bad, you should see my toe nails...
Why is this video fast forwarded? I want to watch it at actual speed.
Do you give the horse back to the neglectful owner?
Nice work. Am sure the mare appreciated it, too.
QE DONO SEM RESPONSABILIDADE COM O ANIMAL TEM QE CUIDAR
Did the owners of these neglected horses serve any Jail time?
Whats the point of shoeing a horse that is not wearing down their hooves anyway?
Is there anything worse than sore feet?
Just curious as to why you made a frog protection?
these owners should be fined for letting the horses get like that
Удивляюсь хозяевам лошади. 🤷♀️
Hope this is a rescue horse, and not an owner. Thank you.
Watched this at 0.25x speed and it was still too fast.
Since this is a school, do people bring horses to you?
You must be paid very well to work that fast!
First time watching you but you just go to fast
Would have been nice not to have to slow down the video
Please don't speed up the film. We miss so much.
Slow it down a little, please! It makes me dizzy!
Slow down. It's hard to enjoy when it is fast.
How long will all that take to heal up?
was this horse found abandoned somewhere?

I wish you con include how the horse reacts to its new feet.
Speeding up the trim ruins the experience!
What’s up with the bloody spot on that first hoof?
I hope that poor horse was going somewhere better.
Why do you join the shoe and cover the frog too ??
Very Good.... First class work...
All these videos YT is now recommending to me make me wonder … what do wild horses do without humans to trim their hooves?
They walk a lot more so their hooves wear down naturally
This might be a stupid question, but how do wild horses maintain healthy hooves?
Horses that live wild travel for miles every day and wear their feet naturally. Ones with bad feet tend not to survive.
YOU DID A FANTASTIC JOB, SUPER TALENTED, SIR!!!!!!! LIKE THE CHAPS!!!! Do take care. Fl.
Where do you find all these horses that have feet that have suffered such neglect?
spca; or an auction where horrific cruelty shows up but nothing is done about it, the animal gets sold and the cruelty owner gets the money instead of being charged with cruelty neglect!
Watching it sped up isn’t great
Was the owner prosecuted!
1. Horse/Donkey: Why do trimmers not use angle grinders? (similar to beef/dairy trimmers)
2. Why do you use wet & dry sandpaper? (cosmetics only?)
