I like the answer of "it depends" over yes, no, maybe. lol. I love my Kokatat Gore-tex drysuit. One of these years I'll have to get the gaskets redone but that is a future me issue as they still work on mine. I test mine by putting it on and climbing into a bathtub fulll of cool water.

How do dry tops work? Is there neck, wrist, and belly gasket?,

Great question Jason.. So a dry top 'generally' (depending on the manufacturer) is going to have latex wrist and neck gaskets, and a double tunnel around the waist to lock in the skirt and keep water out of the cockpit. The downside is, if you do end up going for a swim your getting wet, so this is not a immersion protection piece of gear. Dry tops are often used in shoulder seasons or cooler days when water temps are more comfortable and hypothermia is not a immediate risk. These can be combined with neoprene pants or farmer john/jane wetsuits to offer a bit more cold water protection.

@@FrontenacOutfitters seems I need to get good a rolling, and then I would stay dry in a dry top. I now think I understand that drysuit is needed if I want to stay dry while swimming
