Hello, thank you for the review! I am a tester for the game, and we're really thankful for this feedback! We're currently trying to find ways to reduce the grind and make the game more enjoyable. I've forwarded this video to the devs and we will hopefully try to convince them to change the gameplay loop.
Well i hope so but... all i've heard from poeple is that the level grind has only increased over the years. So i highly doubt that there will be a change. but again, i hope they will listen.
I think the game should try and stick to what it does best. the pve combat is something people love right now from what ive heard. i was on agamatsu’s stream where he played derelict, and he was asking people how they felt about grinding. He asked “do you fight for your stuff” or something along those lines, and most people said that its just mining. getting better gear shouldnt be locked behind 3 seemingly unrelated skill types that not alot of people really enjoy. Another thing that i feel is close to being worthwhile is the human combat. whenever i fight a bandit, i attack them, and just get hit through my attack since i cant move fast enough. Hitting someone should stop them from attacking (unless you plan to lower the endlag on m1s, but i feel like its good at making people play careful) so that i dont have to be passive. i feel it wouldnt even make it to easy to stunlock npcs, because if you run out of stamina and stop attacking then youre going to get hit back. As long as the npc has enough hp to tank your full stamina bar atleast once or twice, adding full hitstun wouldn’t be that serious Ive only played for about 5 hours so take this with a grain of salt but TL;DR add hitstun to npc combat, make combat stats easier to single out from other stats
@@stterragg_ytIt's not extreme diff It's just normal, the extreme diff is a troll by the devs. It's dum to think you can have a diffrent diff than other players playing with you that you can also party up with
There are few game mechanics that I absolutely hate more than: "Oh you're not good enough at mining, you also need to level up your blacksmithing, AND your forge proficiency, AND your metalworking, AND your tailoring, AND your gathering for wild plants specifically, AND your farming, AND your-" please can we drive this to extinction and just let people PLAY THE GAME?
@@JohnLegend2906 I never complain about that I’ll enjoy a game if the base feel is good then if it’s just a bandit beater for now I’ll stop playing like any other game where I think I’ve seen all the unique content
All you need really is mining foraging and logging. If you’re gonna level those, you’re gonna get resources, which means you’re gonna have to craft. So crafting honestly isn’t that bad. And that’s only for late game builds really. If you’re starting out, it really is not that bad.
As a derelict veteran,I can confirm that all of your complaints are true and I want to thank you for pointing it out.The devs of the game actually play the game and listen to the fanbase so that I hope this video will be noticed by the devs team. The is still in alpha and still lack funding. But after the recent update, they improve the tutorial greatly and suddenly the player count sky rocket nearly 10 times more player than before. And I think they going to improve the second area like how they improved the first one.
Im max rank i only played the game as much as i did cause it was aton of fun with my buddies some of the points the guy made were valid like the animations but some were stupid
As a derelict veteran, I humbly disagree because this guy just can't take the difficulty of the game and doesn't like the fact that it does not have the exact mechanics as a real souls game.
@@Shockwinner6430If you know, eclipse is a guy who can play a game that is super and enjoy it.The problem is a difficulty scale in the game is a joke.It is just the 2nd area and the enemy has already significantly stronger than the players .That is why they remaked that area.He did not complain about the fact that the game doesn't have the exact mechanic as a soul game because he know a game need to be free, have it own unique mechanic, not just trying to be 100% soul game.
@@haluuthingoc1034 A lot of the time he was comparing it to other soul games. For example, he was comparing the healing systems and leveling systems to the soul games. Also soul games are supposed to be hard and difficult yet he still complained about the difficulty. There was also a time where he went on a rant on how the game joked about changing it to extreme and said that was the reason why the game was difficult and thought that could be blamed on a glitch which changed it to extreme. Overall it seems he was just mad that hard games aren't for him and for me I love the fact that I can spend hours on a game for a slight increase or to beat a boss because it shows how much ive grown since being that little noob with leather armor struggling to beat the Vagrant Sigurd.
@@Shockwinner6430 He compared those two mechanic because the changes derelict makes to those 2 are very bad.Remember he played before the exp buffed update so he and others players played before that update had to grind,a lot so.He spend 30 minutes mining and still couldn't craft iron sword and farmed only 1 skill that he was right to complain .The healing system is bad,not gonna lie.I dont remember him complaining about the game difficulty,he asked if the difficulty choosing is a joke than he fight avarus soldier, lost, then mining for better gear then he complain about the game leveling system. But if you can, give me the time stamp for the time he become a rage quit baby
This game makes me so mad.. I played this game till like level 40 when it only had like less than 100 players and they freaking increased the level requirements on my gear… the game is a massive grind fest.
For real and then I tried to get the plasma swords from the subjugation stronghold place and I can't kill any of the NPC's without another one noticing and then ganging up on me
Dude I seriously SERIOUSLY need you guys to understand that eclipse will NOT like dw. It lacks a tutorial and is VERY VERY unfriendly to newbies. It's community is barely helpful as well, which isn't a good bonus I LOVE dw. But Seriously. It isn't a game eclipse would like. And I don't blame him either. Being non new player friendly isn't per say a good thing
An “early Alpha” shouldn’t look good, it should *feel good*. A lot of the issues mentioned are things that would’ve been completely avoided had the developers taken their time. It’s almost like they hired some artists to make a cool looking movie, and then tried to use the assets to make a game. It’s super frustrating because every new game takes 10 times longer to develop, cause the devs feel the need to make the graphics absolutely perfect before even finishing the campaign
Yeah the gameplay is what should happen first not a million years of “look we for the thousandth time improved vfx and made a new awesome gigantic obnoxious map!”
I recently played this game and I was into it the first few minutes with the tutorial and stuff but, after you beat the first boss they basically give you no details or direction so you’re just stuck wandering around aimlessly trying to figure out what to do next. And when you eventually look up videos and tutorials on what to do next, they all say lvl up your mining and etc which is just mind numbing and boring. I hope they fix these issues because I really did like playing the game at first but, once I realized I had to grind 2 decades just to get to iron I gave up.
Facts bro 😭 Im way more patient than most people and when I finished the tutorial and got lost, I at least tried to explore and try to figure out what to do. I figured to upgrade my armor and when I realized things like armor needed a certain level I already knew what the loop was gonna be. I entertained it a little bit but once you finish one grind, it just leads to another one which is just boring. Literally everything you do is grind 💀 You want more HP? You have to die over and over again. You want more crafting levels? Craft the same item over and over again while getting the materials over and over again. The loop isn't fun. I'm not sure why so many Roblox games, at least the ones I play, put grinding in their games. It's just annoying
In 3 days I reached level 50, with full on endgame gear and 30k crowns. As for the tutorial, that’s another thing it takes from dark souls. No map system really, just a compass, and maybe some waypoints. You have to go an explore everything. And after the first tutorial, you just go, wander around, find new areas, then eventually get started on grinding. The grind really is not that bad. It’s fine, maybe like half to one hour to reach each tier., if you just grind that one thing. From level 0-15 for mining, less than one hour prolly, some like logging only require like 38 before you’re done for the entire game, mining needs 41, gathering needs 34, only if you’re a mage, , and that’s it. That’s all you need for endgame builds.
@@karbyboi8489 because it’s like their way of padding out the game for the lack of content and it’s very frustrating to deal with because almost every rpg game with potential has this issue.
@@smthsmthsmthsmth Aye I appreciate those tips bro 🙏 I'll try doing that. I'll do the grinding in different times to make it easier on me. If you can get end game armor in 3 days then I'll try it
@@yaboijackson2002 Fr its so silly. It really do be the more popular games too people entertain it. I really wish developers on Roblox realized that grinding just isn't fun. It's not a mechanic and it shouldn't be vital to your game. I'm not saying hand everything out for free but damn 😭
For your "endlag" comment, your endlag is different depending on your weapon. For example, the dagger has next to no endlag but deals less dmg, and greatsword has high endlag but better damage. You're going to need to time your attack properly, otherwise you'll find yourself getting hit mid animation. Also, the parry window is very tiny. When you say the attack goes through you; trust me, you did NOT block in time. You also said "you need to perfect each boss or get a bunch of healing items," you're gonna need at least grade 3 on all of your armor so you can survive just a single hit. That's definitely a problem, but it all comes down to skill (the final boss one shots you regardless of your armor if it isnt max, and only a select few people even have enough forging stones and crowns to max out all their gear). The grinding part will definitely get fixed or rework eventually, considering that's what they're focusing on right now (boosting xp, giving exp flasks, etc.)
I agree with everything you said about upgrading. I recently got max level and still get 1 tapped by the final boss with like lvl 10 plasteel armor. I do think calling it skill based is a stretch though, my biggest complaint about the combat in this game is that it seems entirely memorization and not skill based at all. Almost every attack the enemies do has a super long wind up and a very fast finish with massive hitboxes. Meaning you can't dodge them through visual queues alone, you just have to get used to seeing the attack and know the timing, some attacks have exceptions in boss fights with decent visual queues. But most are just artificially difficult with super fast swings, paired with any amount of lag makes it annoying at best. And the gigantic hitboxes + player tracking on most attacks makes dodging attacks through positioning outright impossible on almost every attack, you either are out of range or using I frames. There is no positional dodges like in elden ring where you can for instance stand on the opposite side of the hand the weapon is in and dodge it that way.
@@ragegaze3482 stuff like this is mostly dependent on the player, considering there are people in the derelict discord server who beat the veiled paladin in less than 5 tries. If you don't have a fast reaction time, you'll have to get yourself beaten up until you memorize his attack patterns.
@@ragegaze3482shadow silver armor makes u take 60% less dmg on the first hit u take, even though the description says it activates after u get hit which is just wrong, u don’t even need to upgrade that armor and it’ll be better than a maxed out plasteel set , idk if it’s a bug or not
Hey eclipse, I **used** to play this game, when it was pre-alpha before they even had bosses, and I’ll say they haven’t improved on anything besides adding enemy variants and new special areas, the skills they add as you’ve mentioned are soley leveled via grinding, same with materials, same with armor, same with blacksmithing. And when I mentioned this within their discord server everyone said I was in the wrong for pointing out it’s a poor design choice so I decided to leave and not support their game any further. I’m glad you choose to review the game because now someone who is equally level headed and doesn’t believe grinding for hours to max out one skill just to need to do that on all other skills aswell isn’t fun and never will be. So again, thank you eclipse for sharing, and I hope they now realize their mistake in development. 🎉
as someone who continues to play the game and is max level currently with the new solar update and has everything. i feel bad for the new players that deal with the weapon grade system that was added recently. and tbh it also sucks for endgame! there is no easy way to quickly and effectively get forging stones other than get a group of people for the boss raid thing. Not to mention the crowns system that makes it so no enemies drop money, it’s a really hard game to get into now due to all the leveling and grinding that needs to be done just to reach mid game. and this is coming from an end game player that has everything basically. not to mention that the boss battles, are really boring once you figure out how to beat them and what moves you can attack on an what not.
@@s_enseI can fully relate. I consider myself to be a late game player, but I agree that newer players have it worse regarding the skill level system. For them, the process of levelling certain skills can feel stagnant because there so many skill gaps between enemies, tools, weapons, etc. Inevitably, newer players would have to grind much lower requirement things just to be able to use higher requirement items, and I think that’s a major problem. It also affects higher level players too, as for me, grinding for insight levels just to max upgrade one piece of gear feels almost impossible.
Hello Eclipse, as a Derelict player and a somewhat long fan of yours I was a little saddened by your review, but the points you raise are completely valid and I understand where you're coming from. About the difficulty, it was kind of a joke thing, everyone is forced into the hardest difficulty because the game is supposed to be fairly hard, although this isn't stated anywhere but in the game's discord so I understand the confusion, they should probably have a message that indicates that it was a joke or simply remove the choose difficulty menu. This also brings the topic of HP, you were probably fighting enemies far off your league with underleveled armor, although upgrading your armor can be quite costly and grindy so I understand why you wouldn't have done it and why you focused mainly on your sword. Everything you say about the map being mostly empty wastelands and stats/talents/skills being really grindy is completely correct, they should probably do something more about it as the only thing to deal with long distances are the bonsai which are quite apart from each other, and to level up your stats there's also dailes but they're pretty limited. Overall, great video, and even though you teared a game I personally enjoy you gave pretty good and reasonable reasons why, I could still enjoy the video and hopefully the devs won't take offense on it (which would be unlikely IMO, from my personal experience the owner is pretty nice and can take criticsm) and will instead work and improve upon the game's major flaws.
The problem with the difficulty select being fake is that it's entirely mean spirited and meant to troll the player for wanting to play on a lower difficulty, which is the kind of stuff you would expect from a rage/troll game like Cat Mario or that one rage game Eclipse played a while back, not in a soulslike. Rule #1 of game design, NEVER go out of your way to blatantly lie to the player through the game itself.
@@bowldawg4394 it’s just the difficulty selection, I’m just saying if in the description it is saying it was inspired by the “souls like” genre then why would the game have difficulty. I know that they should’ve probably said “The Difficulty Selection is a joke, there was never meant to be any difficulty setting” but instead it’s just automatically selecting extreme mode. I can see why you guys get confused for that but don’t focus the game on one joke ok?
Hi eclipse, I wanted to let you know that I am facing a challenging time ahead. I will be undergoing aortic dissection repair surgery soon, and I would deeply appreciate your thoughts, prayers, and positive vibes during this journey. Your support means the world to me, and I am grateful for each and every one of you sending prayers. Thank you.
i just started derelict, and my main problem actually wasnt any of these. my main problem with the game is that past the tutorial, i literally had NO idea what to do. NOTHING. it took me so long to figure out what to do, but once i did, the problems you stated didnt really apply to me. in terms of wandering around, sure that could be annoying, but it takes a short 15 minutes to unlock every bonsai in the game (except for ones that you need to do quests to unlock) and after that i could teleport to most places. it terms of the skill part, i personally thought that yes, grinding skills was a little boring, but it benifits so many other things at the same time. money, insight, crafting materials, etc. and finally, in terms of difficulty, this game is heavily inspired by elden ring, in which in most cases, most things 3 shot you. dodging is definitely important, and they have that little extreme difficulty bit to warn you that this game is hard. but in general, ive had so much fun with derelict, and i personally think its a great game. sure, theres some problems here and there, but its in early alpha, and the game has lots and lots of charm that outweighs the bad. in MY opinion. TLDR: main problem was that i didnt know what to do, wandering around wasnt too bad after you unlock bonsais, skills are beneficial to many parts of the game, and the difficulty is definitely intended. i like the game, despite a few problems. if you read all that, genuinely tysm and have an amazing rest of your day! :D
Hey I played this game long ago! Im glad to see that its somewhat changing because back then it was FAR worse (I think..) The game could benefit from a proper story based path because going off on my own and encountering a laser gun dude armed with a bronze dagger was.. fascinating
Bro I just entered the feeding grounds after beating dominion path and really thought i was HIM because i had full armour and a high grade bronze sword and all of a sudden some guy fires s blast into the air that comes down and one shots me
How the hell did you even find the Subjugation Stronghold when you were still stuck with the first weapon? I had a bronze sword with an AOE fire spell before I even knew where the iron veins were
i remember infernasu did a derelict vid a little over a year ago, and it seems like not much has changed. hopefully it leaves this "alpha" stage and becomes completely different because a year of minimal progress is crazy.
Hey, at the part where you talked about the difficulty selector, its actually a troll. No matter which difficulty you choose it will automate to extreme, so extreme is just the default game difficulty
@@abdullahtayyab8828 It's easy to make a difficulty selector. It's a troll. If you don't know anything about game design, _please_ don't talk like you do.
When you play the game and you select difficulty it no matter what puts you in extreme. I dont know why but thats the way it goes. I feel like the whole difficulty selection screen is pointless but whatever
That's ... Fucking stupid. Don't give the option then. It's not funny or a good troll. If people want to lower the difficulty let them. Even I'd agree that that's a terrible idea and the game is way too punishing AS A SOULS FAN. Yes there will be one shot attacks and ganks will always be hard, but getting 3 hit and needing to grind for heals is the antithesis of the loop of souls like (Enter boss, learn, die, respawn, repeat until you stat check or beat the boss)
@@Caragoner Extreme is the only difficulty, I'd assume they only even let you see other difficulties because they wanted to be cruel. But like in most souls games, there is only one difficulty, and you can't lower it

As someone who has ventured all across the platform and seen bountiful of games, both well known and underrated, i can confidently say that there are like 1000 souls like games and a lot of them are usually just like this except less story and more focused on pvp
@@neptunehours8814 HUSK, Hero RPG, NAMELESS, and BALTHAZAR, to name a few (i dont know anymore bc i really don't care for these types of games, but i have encountered a fair amount)
just watch the blox fruits video again, pretty much the same thing but he''d talk more about how after a certain point in the game you're left completely directionless, the boss are unecessarely difficult to kill and ofc the abysmal drop rates
I recently found this game too and I gotta say I'm glad its getting the recognition it deserves. It has some insane untapped potential that I hope gets implemented correctly.
So i full cleared the game a couple months ago before this seemingly huge VGU update (game looked completely different half a year ago) and I do have some points. 1) The difficulty select is supposed to be a joke, you're always to going to be set on extreme 2) I honestly think I only had 1 enjoyable experience when I played and that the Asher, Storm of Vengeance boss fight which was actually pretty enjoyable to do 3) The instant killing is pretty annoying to deal with but really just kind of something you have to accept, as the game would be way too easy if anything late game didn't either 1 shot you or combo you to death, which yes, I know sounds terrible on paper
yub fighting boss in this game is enjoyable as u have to adapt to the boss attack, ive never played soul games before, is it easier than this? cause i love the fact that a single mistake can take ur life immediately
Bending your knee to the idea of things one shotting you when you're appropriately leveled for the area you're exploring exclusively because it's "late game" is a word I'd get in trouble for saying on UA-cam. I don't mean to rude, but you've made it *much* too difficult to restrain myself: Please shut up, watch a video about what artificial difficulty means, and go play the Dark Souls games so you'll actually have a clue about what Derelict is trying (and failing, like every other soulslike) to mimic. Your take is embarrassing and you need to learn.
@@razztastic Before I make an actual reply, dude it's not as if I've just insulted your mother in front of a crowd of spectators. The word choice of "restraining" yourself from leaving an ONLINE comment on a 5 month old video is kind of insane. Calm down will you? Trust me I've experienced enough artificial difficulty; I play gacha games. Most of their difficulty is stat inflation and timers- which need I tell you is exactly what Derelict had at that time. Do you know why even though gacha games inflate their boss HP bars so much, why players can still compete? It's because the players are also dealing an insane amount of damage. If you played Derelict on the same build I was talking about (NOT the build shown in the video) you'd know that the final 2 gear sets in the game (the Heretic set and the Coldsteel set) have a literal max hp bonus damage passive built into them (it's 5% or 10% of their max hp). Also, you also gain access to both a wind spell and a Healing Waters spell. Running a hybrid mage/warrior build will have the wind spell immediately HALVE any boss's HP, while the healing spell will immediately heal you to full. Hey, wait a second. Something that heals you to full and a system that makes you deal way too much damage? That sounds just like a game that pertains to souls that are colored dark! Did you like forget Malenia or something? Her entire difficulty and shtick is that she ONE SHOTS YOU. That's why people complained so much when the game first released. Let's check ourselves shall we?
The boss battle on dominions pass will always be my most fun experience from early game, the boss is so predictable and just beating him makes you feel like a pro
I hope the devs manage to turn around the game because this game has super good potential I agree the movement feels a bit jank even compared to something like ds1 because atleast that feels consistent. The healing issue definitely carried over from demon souls. As good as that game is, the healing was not well handled
I played this game with NO guides, for the RAW experience. Basically I will now list my issues and joys. Issues: -really hard to find your way after the quest, especially if you are hungrily looking for bosses. without guides other things like entering the cathedral is very unclear -sudden lag is sometimes problematic against fights -If you are a first ever souls game player and you are trying to explore, you will get sat down and get instakilled by all enemies -the terrain is god awful, you slip like you are on ice. -some bosses' music, although godly, is far too loud. Like I can't hear the boss -I hate Ophelia early game, she keeps murdering me while I am trying to mine some iron Joys: -kickass bosses, along with great music -I love the attack patterns -I love the learning possibility of the game Overall, I give this game an 8/10. The game's upsides are more than compensating the downsides, but this game would be 10/10 with the issues fixed. On another note, I also bloody love the starting menu, the goofy panic I had when the supposed relaxed mode playthrough was actually extreme mode. 10/10 troll My advice: If you are new to the genre, then this game might be outrageously difficult and painful. Just stay patient. Every death is a learning experience. Also ask people with cool armour if you don't know how to do something, this community is great and will help you at all times. Now for the not new, then I recommend you to slow down, as this game is very slow sometimes compared to high octane souls games. THe stamina is pretty slow, the ripostes are pretty slow, but most of this is due to balancing. If you could instantly get up then some truly devilish things can happen. If you are a dark souls god, this game will be a peaceful walk in the park. just walk forward and kill everything. I also recommend EVERYONE to use a shield. It is very good against blockable enemies. I also recommend using ranger armour and rogue hat for more damage, as the trap to use brute armour for more defence only to realise you get one shot anyway sucks. good luck to all, and I wish you a happy experience.
as a person that is level 57, I can confirm it took me 30 hours to get here. Really grindy game and honestly needs way more bosses for the earlier levels because the only fun boss is asher. The avarus captain is literally a free boss once you get brute armor and it's the only boss that is viable for that stage of the game until you get to the point you need cerise armor which you fight the nr-02 which is just an extremely boring boss. It is quite literally dodge three attacks and occasionally and forth if it does a laser, run away when it starts those combustion explosions on the ground and dodge his stomp for a free 4 hits with a greatsword. Then you just repeat over and over until you get all the fuel canisters you want. But honestly for still being in alpha it's really good. The grind reminds me of verse 1 grind of deepwoken except a less enjoyable.
The skills system is dumb ngl as it locks you from getting the cool stuff unless you waste time picking up stuff or mining to unlock the lv req which the bar takes forever to lv up fully.
I started playing this game a long time ago I don't know why I enjoyed it so much but the amount of time that it takes just to level something up is unbelievable. I think it took me like 3 days just to level up one skill so I could upgrade my weapons.
There's a doge vase at the first bonsai that sells food ☠️. Yes, a DOGE VASE. Makes sense why people dont see it, including me because... Well, its a vase. But, you did say that you get one-shot a lot. And for that you can upgrade your equipment. Such as, if you upgrade your leather armour to like tier 7 you are fine and don't need any other armour until brute armour. Which is nice :). (Also you CAN farm forging stones too. They arent only from quests. Also the extreme difficulty thing is on purpose. Everyone is on extreme.) But yeah I really hope this game improves as it is pretty unbalanced still, and needs a lot of working done.
@@catmist4651 fight some bosses? Really easy. I can average of 65 ish stones per boss fight with a few multipliers, up to like 104 ish stones with my 8x multiplier. So unless you want to go for full grade 20 gear like a no life sweat who doesn’t take a shower, the grind is fine. I’ve given up on Paladin, instead just decided to built different weapons and gear to have a fun time.
Whats even worse is that 2 updates ago there was a chef NPC at the weeping grove bonsai, and his model was finished and everything no dialogue tho but he sold the exact same items as eggstavo(name of doge vase guy). So why scrap the chef and replace him with a fucking doge vase, why not just grab the chef, put him at the camp just chilling on the ground on the place of eggstavo and maybe have special stove or smtn next to him where you can craft special items. And the lore behind him could be like he escaped with Gideon when the world went to hell, bandits arrived and the Avarus empire came. Thats a way better idea imo
i agree with this so much a especially on the fact where you should be earning souls and not having to level every single skill because me personally I got to level 56 in this game and it was taking me hours to level a single part from the skills which is ridiculous
i played derelict for abt 3 days and what ive noticed is alot of the bosses attacks are lingering and they stay there for ages and most bosses oneshot you so its a nasty combo
@@Chromabones Souls like bosses are fair and extremely polished, some of the animations on this game don't even sync with the boss hitbox so you get hit from like 10 meters

i am max level on this game and have most all loot, and so far, for myself who just recently bought elden ring and haven’t played it yet, it is a lot of grinding and tbh a game that many don’t enjoy for that aspect. in fact i’d say it got even more grindy due to the grade system being added. The fact that it is now harder and more grindy for new players really makes me upset because i didn’t have to go through all of the tedious grind that these new players had too. it is a good game if you enjoy the grind, but it really could use work on those aspects if you ask me. (and yes I will start elden ring soon)
When I first started playing, getting to and defeating the first boss was extremely fun. However, it feels that for every 20 minutes of fun, I have to spend 1 hour grinding for materials and stats in order to get better gear, just so that I can get two-shot instead of one-shot. I stopped playing when I grinded for 45 minutes in order to get the materials & stats to craft some pants; only to realize that I had to have 27 archery stat points in order to use them (I was NOT about to spend another hour grinding archery stat points just to get pants that give me +10 armor)
Most of your audience doesn't even know what a soulslike is Eclipse. You should change the title to something more 10 year old-ish so they can understand what is happening
been playing this game since the lvl cap was 40, its a good game, and they even try to fix the grinding by giving you exp flasks and some exp boost potions by doing the daily quests now, but once you get to around 40 to 45, the grind becomes like staring into a brick wall Edit: They have updated and the update was exp buffs, they buffed the exp gain from exp flask, exp potion, and what you gain from what skill you are doing
Lowk the new update gives so much extra exp that the grind is not even that bad anymore. Kinda fell sad I grounded everything the day before the update came :c
Finally I see someone who agrees that the barren wasteland and wandering is an issue, who would make the assumption that after doing all the starting quests and a boss your next task would be to grind one spot for hours.
After your video, they GREATLY increased the EXP gain from every non primary skills such as logging, mining, foraging, crafting, fishing, cooking, and alchemy. I don't think they will ever change this system since some people already have everything maxed out and it wouldn't be great towards them to utterly remove that "EXP-ing way". Anyway, great video as always! Keep up the good work.
Thats still so useless as primary skills are the most important and people will grind those skills much more meaning there wont be much of a difference
@@AvarianGuard I do agree that primary skills are important, but non-primary ones tend to be very meaningful too, like mining and crafting. Non-primary skills are most of the time needed to unlock other things and that's why the devs gave them a Big EXP Boost, unlike the primary skills who aren't needed for doing other things. Primary skills receive experience the more you use them (scales with damage though), and makes it so that you can get a better weapon with more power for that said primary skill (for example : you won't need the magic primary skill for a strength build, so you don't really need to level up the other primary skills other than strength if you don't want to use the others).
@@soap8451 "its ez" he didn't mention difficulty in his comment once, plus difficulty is subjective. on top of that, a souls-like game being easy is kind of defeating the point. "except from the skill system, everything else is fun" ignoring the skill system like it isnt going to be a large part of the game, especially way early game (which is when you're trying to hook the player, especially on roblox when average playtime for games is single-digit minutes)
One funny thing as well is that there's a chance you encounter Ophelia who will immediately destroy you if not careful. Doesn't matter what level you are you always get 2 shot
I have a game recommendation for you, considering how much you liked Titan Warfare I think you will enjoy Attack on Titan: Freedom War now the game is no where near perfect and isn't as polished as Titan Warfare but I think it would be a pretty good game to check out even with all of it's problems. The game can be a little janky at times and you will die a lot but when you start to get the hang of things it can be very fun. (Note: I recommend you spend a lot of time practicing the ODM gear in the tutorial or practice gamemodes because when you die in a round you get only one life and have to wait until the next stage starts. PVP is hard when you are going against the sweats and are a low-level so take note, also make sure when you join the game to click on the question mark icon under the party creation tab so you can learn a little more about the mechanics in game since the tutorial doesn't cover all of it since it would make it very long and it only covers the bare minimum.) Keep up the great videos.
The difficulty Is a troll. Everyone has the same difficulty. And about the fact that you can craft items that you can't use kinda makes sense: for example if i know how to make a greatsword doesent mean im strong enough or skilled enough to use It. But i have to agree about the walking simulator thingamabob problem.
in a real world sense yea it makes sense. but this is a video game crafting something then not being able to use it makes it a very annoying .I shouldn't have to grind even more just to USE something i crafted 4 hours ago
I found out about this game recently as well as I was looking for something similar to Deepwoken that was more soulslike. Also, I just really wanted something new and soulslike to play after having finished the Elden Ring DLC. Glad to see this game is getting the recognition it deserves but it does have bugs and significant delays with bosses hitting the player hitbox without it registering.
@Eliezer3838 thats stupid,u shouldn't die just to increase ur hp,thats just bad game design making it extremely tedious ontop of the grind that the player has to do
ty eclipse, it seems they listened to some of this feedback. all skill exp has been boosted, exp potions now give more along with various other changes. Idk if it was this review that caused it but it may have had some impact. Thanks.

i personally liked the mid game and mid to end game transition alot. But the begining of the game (after you finish the quests) really needs some work and DEFINITIONLY the end game as well. felt like i grinded the whole game for nothing because there is nothing to do.
I like the skill system. The game feels like a RuneScape/ Dark Souls combo game with the mechanics and leveling system in tandem. Finally a soulslike that won’t limit me to a single build! I agree the combat can be janky (not as consistent as you say) but the pacing makes it worthwhile to be more patient or play with friends which makes for a much more unique experience than most soulslike games
The biggest problem is variety and how you get weapons, a close second is the end lag. Even if you do time your attacks while fighting a boss, they'd just do a super quick move and 1 shots you. Not to mention the annoying grind for skill levels
As a Derelict fan myself, i knew exactly what i was getting into when i opened this video. I love this game but it has some glaring issues PS: The hardest difficulty is what I believe everyone has to play on because the same thing happened to me and all my friends
While I have been enjoying the game so far, I do agree that the changes suggested in this video should be made. I would also like the game to continue the story that kind of ends after fighting the boss on the bridge, yeah there is still stuff to explore, but without any kind of narrative, it feels a bit devoid of substance. Judging by the futuristic enemies juxtaposed with the fantasy setting, as well as the computer you see in the loading screen, I have a feeling that there will be some kind of reveal that the world is a simulation and the Avarus are trying to keep the players prisoner or something. I feel like that could have a lot of story potential, maybe there can be a segment where you escape to the real world but don't have any of the abilities you gained while in the simulation, maybe the main villain could be the ruler of a totalitarian government that is trapping rebels inside the simulation. Any kind of story (as well as having the map not be so barren) would give the player a sense of purpose. I'm saying all of this because I like this game, and I want it to be the best it can be.
I got lost in Derelict, a lot. Didn't get my body destroyed by a difficult enemy because I forget parrying exists (The keybind to parry/block, because there's a LOT of keybinds I need to remember). But I still wind up lost in places.
tbh, I completely forgot about this vid. but when I was playing roblox, I wanted to play a game like dark souls and found derelict. when I played the game I had similar experiences, like going to a new area and suddenly needing to mine so many copper ore for no other reason, being able to craft an iron sword and not be able to use it, and (not a part of eclipse's experience) not being able to cut a tree even though it looks similar to an oak tree. The combat for me is kind of okay for me but it could be better. I just hope the game becomes better and I don't have to grind for almost everything I need to do to progress.
personally i think the walking alot or running alot is fun because my thought process on it is that im really the person journeying from place to place like im actually in the game ok sometimes i listen to music but its really just very fun to run around exploring the world and the scenery. One thing i didnt like tho is that after the tutorial it gets increasingly harder to know what to do i dont even think what i did was right but ig for me thats my own "journey"
I played this game around a year ago and since it's been so long, I forgot about all the game mechanics and am already too far in the game, making it hard to progress even further.
I remember trying this game a few months ago, and after completing the tutorial, I was just wandering around for like 30 minutes and didn't find a single living entity at all. Apparently, I should have wandered 30 more minutes to find a critter lol
i love this game so much but at points i get way too confused, and there is also the fact of levelling up all your stats to unlock the next stuff can take quite a while which isnt bad but its the fact of if your completely lost on what to do you dont know what to level up and whatnot
9:06 I strongly disagree with this point while it is true you have to level-up all the non-combat stuff but for combat you can specialise in melee (you can choose between a dagger, sword, great sword and hammer) archery and magic with staves
This game is actually pretty simple you just need to upgrade ur weapon and u can once cycle most mobs and most of the bosses cant even hit u if u roll backwards 2 or 3 times depending on the boss but yes its hella grindy like way more than it should had been
The games tutorial showed upgrading the reason your just getting basically one shot by everything is because you are not upgrading your armour but I understand that it’s still a grind so I see why it’s annoying
If you haven't tried it yet, you should try out grave/digger. It was made by the same person who made decaying winter. It's like centaura but in the mines.
ngl for me this game is absolute fire the only thing is that they have to make it so that enemies charge at you 1 by 1 after 1 dies bc the multitasking in this game IS FREAKING INVINCIBLE BC WE CANT DO A THING but the bosses are the best part of this game. the paladin is a very fun boss but it 2 shots u or 1 shots u and its simple DODGE but like yk sekiro right it gives me vibes like that soulslike game
They literally just threw us into a game, gave us minimum direction and then, when you beat the first boss, you get lost in a random place. AND I STILL CANT GET OVER THE FACT THAT ONLY QUESTS GIVE FORGING STONES WICH ARE VITAL, AND THAT THE ONLY BOSS THAT CASUAL PLAYERS CAN KILL WHILE DROPPING FORGING STONES ONLY DROPS 5-7 OF THEM, AND HE IS STILL VERRY HARDDD
Honestly its in alpha so you cant really blame it, some points in this vid we kinda a skill issue but yes the difficulty thing being on hardest is normal cuz think abt it its multiplayer how are this gonna balance out different difficulties w all the players( they could have different servers for each one but regulating that would use alot of time) but personally this game has alot of potential considering its only in pre alpha this will be a game to look forward to on its full release as long as the developers take their time and dont rush this it will be a hit

As long as the npc has enough hp to tank your full stamina bar atleast once or twice, adding full hitstun wouldn’t be that serious
Ive only played for about 5 hours so take this with a grain of salt but
TL;DR add hitstun to npc combat, make combat stats easier to single out from other stats
remove the runescape ahh skills
it really is too much grind please find a way to reduce it 😭
im sorry but testers of every game eclipse plays only comment to make it clear they're testers for the game lmao

Be quiet newgen
They updated the game on july 18 and now you get more xp from stuff.
Yeah, I checked their discord server. W Devs

@@bowldawg4394 it’s just the difficulty selection, I’m just saying if in the description it is saying it was inspired by the “souls like” genre then why would the game have difficulty. i just started derelict, and my main problem actually wasnt any of these. my main problem with the game is that past the tutorial, i literally had NO idea what to do. NOTHING. it took me so long to figure out what to do, but once i did, the problems you stated didnt really apply to me. in terms of wandering around, sure that could be annoying, but it takes a short 15 minutes to unlock every bonsai in the game (except for ones that you need to do quests to unlock) and after that i could teleport to most places. it terms of the skill part, i personally thought that yes, grinding skills was a little boring, but it benifits so many other things at the same time. money, insight, crafting materials, etc. and finally, in terms of difficulty, this game is heavily inspired by elden ring, in which in most cases, most things 3 shot you. dodging is definitely important, and they have that little extreme difficulty bit to warn you that this game is hard. but in general, ive had so much fun with derelict, and i personally think its a great game. sure, theres some problems here and there, but its in early alpha, and the game has lots and lots of charm that outweighs the bad. in MY opinion.
TLDR: main problem was that i didnt know what to do, wandering around wasnt too bad after you unlock bonsais, skills are beneficial to many parts of the game, and the difficulty is definitely intended. i like the game, despite a few problems.

When you play the game and you select difficulty it no matter what puts you in extreme. I dont know why but thats the way it goes. I feel like the whole difficulty selection screen is pointless but whatever
its a joke lmao, extreme isnt that hard honestly tho
That's ... Fucking stupid. Don't give the option then. It's not funny or a good troll. If people want to lower the difficulty let them. Even I'd agree that that's a terrible idea and the game is way too punishing AS A SOULS FAN. just watch the blox fruits video again, pretty much the same thing but he''d talk more about how after a certain point in the game you're left completely directionless, the boss are unecessarely difficult to kill and ofc the abysmal drop rates
1) The difficulty select is supposed to be a joke, you're always to going to be set on extreme
2) I honestly think I only had 1 enjoyable experience when I played and that the Asher, Storm of Vengeance boss fight which was actually pretty enjoyable to do
3) The instant killing is pretty annoying to deal with but really just kind of something you have to accept, as the game would be way too easy if anything late game didn't either 1 shot you or combo you to death, which yes, I know sounds terrible on paper
yub fighting boss in this game is enjoyable as u have to adapt to the boss attack, ive never played soul games before, is it easier than this? cause i love the fact that a single mistake can take ur life immediately
I hope the devs manage to turn around the game because this game has super good potential
I agree the movement feels a bit jank even compared to something like ds1 because atleast that feels consistent. The healing issue definitely carried over from demon souls. As good as that game is, the healing was not well handled
I totally agree with your critiques of the game. It has a ton of potential to me as a souls player. I hope it continues to update
I played this game with NO guides, for the RAW experience. Basically I will now list my issues and joys.
Issues:
-really hard to find your way after the quest, especially if you are hungrily looking for bosses. without guides other things like entering the cathedral is very unclear
-sudden lag is sometimes problematic against fights
-If you are a first ever souls game player and you are trying to explore, you will get sat down and get instakilled by all enemies
-the terrain is god awful, you slip like you are on ice.
-some bosses' music, although godly, is far too loud. Like I can't hear the boss
-I hate Ophelia early game, she keeps murdering me while I am trying to mine some iron
Joys:
-kickass bosses, along with great music
-I love the attack patterns
-I love the learning possibility of the game
Overall, I give this game an 8/10. The game's upsides are more than compensating the downsides, but this game would be 10/10 with the issues fixed. On another note, I also bloody love the starting menu, the goofy panic I had when the supposed relaxed mode playthrough was actually extreme mode. 10/10 troll
My advice: If you are new to the genre, then this game might be outrageously difficult and painful.

"is this game BETTER than weird strict dad chapter four??!"

been playing this game since the lvl cap was 40, its a good game, and they even try to fix the grinding by giving you exp flasks and some exp boost potions by doing the daily quests now, but once you get to around 40 to 45, the grind becomes like staring into a brick wall
Edit: They have updated and the update was exp buffs, they buffed the exp gain from exp flask, exp potion, and what you gain from what skill you are doing

This game is ass!
Primary skills receive experience the more you use them (scales with damage though), and makes it so that you can get a better weapon with more power for that said primary skill (for example : you won't need the magic primary skill for a strength build, so you don't really need to level up the other primary skills other than strength if you don't want to use the others).

ignoring the skill system like it isnt going to be a large part of the game, especially way early game (which is when you're trying to hook the player, especially on roblox when average playtime for games is single-digit minutes)

Btw dying is necessary in this game in order to better vitality.

i personally liked the mid game and mid to end game transition alot. But the begining of the game (after you finish the quests) really needs some work and DEFINITIONLY the end game as well. felt like i grinded the whole game for nothing because there is nothing to do.
Imagine being a soldier with a Lazer gun and some goober rolls on the ground and suffers 0 damage
Thank you so much for making this video, I think the boss fights are so fun but in-order to get to those fun parts it is a mind numbing grind fest.
A game's genre is much like a bowl, combing two can work but you need to be careful with not making the bowl useless as a bowl.
As a Derelict fan myself, i knew exactly what i was getting into when i opened this video. I love this game but it has some glaring issues
PS: The hardest difficulty is what I believe everyone has to play on because the same thing happened to me and all my friends
as a level 50 that grinded level 44 crafting for the next greatsword, you kinda lack that patience that is insanely crucial in games like these.
Derelict difficulty system will always set to extreme no matter what difficulty you choose
That difficulty thing is mad funny….. i was also suprised when i picked standard (im not good in games like this) it went to extreme😂😂😂
But I still wind up lost in places.
the game is a breath of fresh air finally theres some hope over all from my experience is 6/10 so far
tbh, I completely forgot about this vid. but when I was playing roblox, I wanted to play a game like dark souls and found derelict. when I played the game I had similar experiences, like going to a new area and suddenly needing to mine so many copper ore for no other reason, being able to craft an iron sword and not be able to use it, and (not a part of eclipse's experience) not being able to cut a tree even though it looks similar to an oak tree. The combat for me is kind of okay for me but it could be better. I just hope the game becomes better and I don't have to grind for almost everything I need to do to progress.
For the healing part there is some magic spells that provide healing so if you have high enough sorcery they can replace making food
personally i think the walking alot or running alot is fun because my thought process on it is that im really the person journeying from place to place like im actually in the game ok sometimes i listen to music but its really just very fun to run around exploring the world and the scenery. One thing i didnt like tho is that after the tutorial it gets increasingly harder to know what to do i dont even think what i did was right but ig for me thats my own "journey"
Love the game but hate the fact that i have no skill and die to every npc known to mankind.
Don’t tell eclipse about how to get 70 percent of the spells
I played this game around a year ago and since it's been so long, I forgot about all the game mechanics and am already too far in the game, making it hard to progress even further.
only on roblox will you find a farming simulator that is titled as a "souls-like"
I remember trying this game a few months ago, and after completing the tutorial, I was just wandering around for like 30 minutes and didn't find a single living entity at all.
Getting gang up in the game is truly a painful example
I played this game actually and it’s really fun. I enjoy it.
Same, I've been playing it none stop 😂
I hope we get an actual good roblox soulslike in the future
This game is actually pretty simple you just need to upgrade ur weapon and u can once cycle most mobs and most of the bosses cant even hit u if u roll backwards 2 or 3 times depending on the boss but yes its hella grindy like way more than it should had been
I'd reccomend trying Force, its a start wars game thats similiar to deep woken but much better imo
The games tutorial showed upgrading the reason your just getting basically one shot by everything is because you are not upgrading your armour but I understand that it’s still a grind so I see why it’s annoying
If you haven't tried it yet, you should try out grave/digger. It was made by the same person who made decaying winter. It's like centaura but in the mines.
you blew this game up, there was only a couple dozen to a hundred players.
ngl for me this game is absolute fire the only thing is that they have to make it so that enemies charge at you 1 by 1 after 1 dies bc the multitasking in this game IS FREAKING INVINCIBLE BC WE CANT DO A THING but the bosses are the best part of this game. the paladin is a very fun boss but it 2 shots u or 1 shots u and its simple DODGE but like yk sekiro right it gives me vibes like that soulslike game
This game is good, the only bad thing is the skill system, they should make it like blox fruits or something like that
