i know one piece of music used on this ride which can be heard at 1:33 - and that is John Keating - Prelude To Earthrise, unfortunately the only version on youtube is in high speed for some reason
Used to love going to the cafe above the River Caves as a kid of the 70's/80's. There were trees with whispy bits hanging down like cobwebs. Always seemed so magical. Don't think it's there anymore. Thanks for the video and rekindling my memories!!
@Nizurel it gets a lick of paint now and again, bit the scenes are the same as when I was young... that's ages ago ! PS can you find the light bulb painted within the hieroglyphics ?
This ride will now need a new pov as the blue grotto part has been totally enclosed and restyled ready for the new wallace n gromit ride above it. The River Caves now has more mist machines and additional effects like bubble tubes and a illuminated tunnel where the grotto was.
I can remember going on this when I was about 8, back in the 80s. It was one of my favourites. Does anyone know what was in the big (KP?) moon that used to be there? i was too small to get on that at the time and it's always bugged me what was inside!
@StephanieGee20 It's exactly where Mesmo described - as you look at the Ghost Train, it's in the building with the white/glass front that's attached to it on the left, just by the ramp. Looks a little like a greenhouse from the outside! It's an unassuming little building but once inside (make sure you go all the way in!) you're transported to a whole other world! :-)
@mesmoland It took me years to figure that out for the first time! Still don't really understand now how that works, it seems too far away from the RC and the ride itself seems to turn more times although it must in actual fact be going straight as it leaves the station. Confusing but interesting design
i dont like going up the hill at the end on the river caves as there is no back supports on the seats so its very easy to slip back ... love your videos :D
@StephanieGee20 It's called Magnolia. It is the best café in the universe! ;-) I always wondered where it was too as I always saw it when on the Goldmine or River Caves but never actually knew where it was. Then a few years ago I sort of just stumbled across it - it's now one of my favourite places in the Pleasure Beach, right up there with the rides! If you haven't yet been in it I strongly recommend it, just for the atmosphere if nothing else :-)
@StephanieGee20 it's the glass building on the end of the ghost train, they do nice fried chicken, except for the time it had something like grit in it and I broke one of my front teeth. : (
when i was a child we went on this and the ride operator forgot we was on the ride, it was near to the park closing, so he let us go round again when he'd obviously forgotten we was on the ride and it stopped on the hill and it never moved! if my mums boyfriend at the time hadn't got out and walked round down and told them we would have been lock in all night!
I can understand them having to change parts during reconstruction of the Gold Mine ride, but what they have done to the Blue Grotto in the river Caves takes most of the fun out of it. That part was my favourite and it just isn't the same any more. Non of the Pleasure Beach is :( the older rides were and always will be the best x Also, the Gold Mine won't be coming back. they are making a new 'Dark Ride' in it's place. No doubt another thrill seeking roller-coaster with no character :( x
