The number of people watching a channel literally with EV in the name and then complaining about how much they hate EVs… SMH.
Wonder how many aren't subscribers and just got the video recommended to them?
They have so many channels, not subscribed to all but they show up in my feed. Didn't know this was a different channel till you said it. I'm certainly not buying one but i wanted to see the Sierra. No complaints , spend whatever anyone wants...
I have hopes that EVs will look and perform better in ways that actually matter...0-60 in 2.9 seconds, who cares, most people are not capable of handling that in the real world....driving a decent distance very important. I commute 85 kms (about 50 miles) one way, that's 170kms round trip, in an ICE you want double the range in case you get stuck, I expect the same from an EV so a rnage of 400kms min, and a price tag that isn't a mortgage. We are not there yet, but keeping informed keeps me in the know of how close we are getting. Although I think that GMC front end is fugly, it outshines the looks and interior of the general loogies known as Teslas.
Hate watchers
Why they hate the silent vroom?
Betcha Ford loved the "its got Blue Cruise" comment slip instead of super cruise 😂
I really love my BlueCruise. No idea how well SuperCruise works...
@billsrelectric Blue Cruise is basically one software and map update behind Super Cruise with very similar functionality. They're both pretty darn good.
Blues Clues... get it right! 🐾🐾
I’m sure they loved that especially since *gm* sued them for the name and that part of the video makes it even more obvious why they did. Ford copies so many things that *gm* does and people write it off as “Oh both are equally as good in that department.” The reality is Blue Cruise is not on the same caliber as Supercruise and before it will catch up *gm’s* Hypercruise will be on the roads via the Escalade _IQ_ and Celestiq.
Dual crotch vents. That is luxury.
One for each gonad!
Gotta keep the boys comfortable
I won't buy a vehicle unless it can optimize my ball temperature. 😂
Hidden on / off button. I hate that. Mid gate, love that
Lack of always-on 12v plug in the bed is surprising. People like those for high end camping refrigerators
In my 2023 LYRIQ I need to ask Google what my battery percentage is.😂. Thx for the video. I enjoyed watching
If these ev truck manufacturers were smart they would provide a flat/square sided front trunk, keep any access points toward the front, and offer a custom fitted toolbox
I often wonder what dunces run these companies.
People that buy $100k EV’s hire other people to use tools, so they have no need to drive around with them.
Waaaaaaaay better design than the CT 👍👍👍
Like them both, but I think if I were to go with one over the other, I would go with the Sierra. Thanks for all your hard work, have A Blessed Day! - Chris
The whole midgate apparatus is actually really cool. I love how the rear glass can be secured on the midgate, and then the whole thing folded flat. That is a very creative use of space.
Unless it’s winter…then you freeze to death.
@@cliffordmontana4562 Well if it's cold, then you simply put it back up. Crazy how that works.
20 year old tech...it came from the avalanche which, at the time, was considered a flop.
I wonder how this would do on that torture towing test
I bet it would pass with flying colors. EVs are very efficient at converting energy to motion, instead of generating waste heat. The biggest issue is they don't carry enough energy to travel long distances, but that hill run is pretty short.
I'd call that primer grey. LOL
Color doesn’t come through well in video. It has a nice flake to it in person. It’s the same color that’s offered on the hummer line up
Come on that's definetely battleship grey! 😀
4 real. Wut Da!
Yeah, they forgot to paint it...
Btw this was initially gonna lunch in Thunderstorm Grey, but this is actually Meteorite Metallic (per my order sheet). A non-edition one will be Thunderstorm Grey (which is way darker).
I thought 70k was expensive. Ouch
@@ChicagoBob123 that’s the thing, too many people like you commenting on GMC products when you know darn well you’re too cheap to even buy a top of the line Chevrolet let alone the more premium offering from the sister brand. Walking into GMC/Buick dealership just to complain about prices is the equivalent of walking into Lexus and complaining about prices.
@@G-Rated bought a tesla instead. Sorry. Top GM isn't all that top anymore
@@ChicagoBob123 I’m sorry you bought a Tesla. lol. But I’m not sure why I’m supposed to care what you think about either.
@@G-Rated Then why are you responding. I am happy with my Tesla. Saves me over 200 a month in gas not to include the regular maintenance. Its quick and quiet. Sorry you don't get that.
@@ChicagoBob123 No, I just don’t understand why anyone would support Elon Musk. You people clearly don’t use your brains for anything other than personal gain and how you can make your own lives easier. Good for you! 🤡
$100k and you don't get a shade for the moon roof? My $47k ID4 and my 2017 Rogue that cost $26k have one built in. That's a huge miss on a $100k vehicle.
Removable shades are cheaper than high-quality IR and UV treatment, which the Sierra Denali EV's panoramic glass roof includes. Also, neither of those vehicles could pull a 10,000 lb trailer cross country in two days while driving handsfree for most of those miles, and neither of them can power your home for over a week during an emergency. You get what you pay for.
You'll notice that the roof liner is thin, if they added a built in shade it'd remove headroom. So this is a compromise.
@@gregpochet4812 this is a different market than the id4. Can’t really compare the 2. It’s not that gm cheaper out here, they just went a different direction, making the glass uv protecting and such.
@@CarTrims Not comparing the 2 as in the same vehicle class.
Along with 300 other features your 2017 rogue doesn’t have😒……….what is wrong with people saying because their vehicle has one feature that another one doesn’t have it’s comparable! 🙄👈🏽
First off, great video Andre and the rest of the TFL crew.
Both super awesome trucks from GMC. Love them both so much. GM is the true king of producing fantastic EVs and not Tesla or Ford.
Wait a few years and buy one at auction for $45k. Lol
Since used EV prices in general are way less, $45k probably would be really close to even the Carmax price for one let alone the auction price.
You're not wrong. But that will be true for the next 10 years with every new EV, since the technology progresses fast with them.
The same thing goes for the majority of ICE vehicles especially luxury vehicles. Cars, trucks, motorcycles are not investments. They are depreciating assets. I usually hang on to cars for a long time. 3:32
So no CarPlay on GM EVs, but you can get CarPlay on their gas powered counter parts. I am not sure why GM wants to add more negatives for going EV for their customers.
This is the ultimate truck for everything except towing heavy things. The price and lack of spare tire is a problem for a significant percentage of people, though.
you would think at $100k they could throw in a full spare
The question is where would you fit a (what looks like a 34 to 37 inch) tire that size? The wheels alone are 24 inches! Behind the tailgate, it robs your rearward vision, in the cargo/bed, you lose precious space. And beneath the cargo floor, the enormous battery pack won't allow for that kind of packaging. The only other viable solution is the frunk which I'm sure could've been accomplished, but knowing GM and how they waste space in terms of packaging, not likely.
The price isn’t problem for anyone at a GMC dealership. Those customers aren’t shopping for the cheapest vehicles their money can buy or else they’d be at a Chevrolet dealership. Many are always trying to speak for *gm’s* entire customer base but it’s clear a lot of you don’t have a clue who they are or what they want - not as well as *gm.*
@@G-Rated Do the research on what percentage of the population buys a vehicle at this price point. I'm well aware that high-end trucks are more expensive than they used to be, but it's a tiny percentage that's spending over 100k, regardless of GMC's customer base.
With bills and quality of life, most reasonable people do buy something more than one-half their annual income. The median (midpoint of all wage earner, not the average) 2022 household income was $74k according to ‘22 census report, +/- 140% of their income. Yikes. Actually, yikes for most new vehicles sold today, these are just OTT.
The infotainment screen looks like it was taken straight out of the lightning, but the tile tabs or whatever they call it, for the screen, is genius
Would love to see a comparison between the Hummer EV and Rivian R1S
There is a black fully loaded Silverado EV out by me, guy just got it and it is sick. Looks really good, looks like a real vehicle. Conversely there's a Cyberdumpster in my neighborhood and that thing seriously looks like a 5 year old built it, what an embarrassing vehicle.
@SantosLHalper01 He had the limited edition EQS 580 and got rid of it I am positive because everyone said it was ugly and I am sure that dumpster won't last long either. It literally looks like a trash can. The Silverado EV on the other hand looks amazing. The Blazer EV looks amazing and so does the Lyriq and the new Escalade EV. GM makes the best looking EVs out there by a mile. 👋
Why are you comparing a Hummer Eevee SUV to the GMC Sierra EV it would have been better for you to compare the Silverado EV to the GMC Sierra EV. It would have been better just to review the GMC truck by itself without the GMC Hummer SUV there
Seeing as there’s no rear trunk, the front trunk can just be called a trunk. 😎 For anyone else who can’t stand “frunk”🤣
Sad Part is the Chevy/GMC EV truck may be the best current example of an EV truck, but they unfortunately missed the rush.
The Sierra EV is the only EV truck I want.
the lack of Apple Car play is a serious issue that makes me pause on buying a Chevy EV truck. I have a '23 Silverado and the GM entertainment system sucks in comparison to what's on Apple CarPlay. Google maps on GM"s system is not great. The text is so small, I cannot read it. Also, I use a lot of apple for off-road use, RV campsites, etc that aren't available on GM's system. I don't want to have to mount my phone with its small screen in addition to the dash screens. The only reason I see that they want to block access to Apple CarPlay is that they want to be able to charge us a subscription. A subscription for data and eventually a subscription for access to apps. That's the future ... subscriptions, subscriptions...
Really wish that hummer was in the realm of actual affordability. Best thing GM makes besides the vette.
It's funny, guy in the neighborhood near me has a Hummer EV suv and a C8, pretty nice garage.
Envy worthy to be sure!
I'm very disappointed in the cyber trucks range, but to have to weigh a full extra TON to get it! I don't think we're there yet. Come on 500 Watt Hr per Kg batteries...
The sunroof not having a built in shade would be a deal breaker for me. I don't know how GM can bring that to market thinking it was a good idea.
Seriously. Absolutely ridiculous. Look at how much Andre is squinting. Cant nap in that car. Can be hungover. Super terrible. Deal breaker for real. Really hard to find a 2024 car that engineers haven't ruined in some absurd way.
@@carvdecarv seriously y’all are so dramatic and dumb enough to believe you know more than *gm.*
Traded our Hummer EV in for a 6.2 Escalade after only 6 months. At the end of the day, it’s nothing but a party trick.
How much did you lose? How much did they give you on trade-in?
23:28 what is it with all these EVs with glass roofs with no shade? It makes no sense. I want a shade and so does the vehicle's interior. EVs especially, should not have a glass roof and definitely not one without a shade because you would want to keep the interior as cool as possible to reduce the use of air conditioning.
EV or not, $100k for ‘normal’ vehicles is a recipe for disaster.
Have you priced Diesel or Gas trucks lately?
But the hummer is not a normal vehicle🤷🏻♂️
I mean pickup prices are wild but many people will still bankrupt themselves because they need a "tough truck" to go grocery shopping or drop their kids off at school. It is stupid but inevitable.
It's a market failure
@@jorgecgonzalez9976 I’m saying for all vehicles, EV or not. People just act like $100k is normal.
I would be interested in seeing what the Sierra EV AT4 would look like. Love that GM is creating a semi-off-road trim for most models!
No Apple Carplay. Also, GM is requiring a data plan through them to use some functions. And, 100 grand?! Booo.
That I agree is a deal breaker
Im sure the chinese can make these exact vehicles for half the price
Have you seen the number of Chinese EVs burning? I prefer buying from someplace that has actual safety standards.
That mid gate is cool now while it’s brand new, but after 50,000 miles that’s a lot of moving parts that are gonna turn into a rattle trap
I have nothing against electric vehicles, and I am considering one. However, these battery prices need to drop as the batteries cost too much. 100K for these trucks is way too much. My Sierra Duramax AT4 3500 didn't cost nearly this much, and it's much more capable...
I saw a GMC Denali Ultimate 3500 dually and it was listed at $111,000.
Anybody catch the Easter egg at 35:03 .. “Pretty Amazing” 😂
Both these are gonna depreciate "Like a Rock".
Amazing how high the tire pressure is, over 60 psi!
That's about right for a one ton truck. They're not a one ton truck, but comparable in weight, so I'm not surprised.
Wow gm truly hates their customers and shareholders. No NACS????????. Another useless ev, I am sorry to say. What is going on?
Basic truck comes with 33" tires, so will it get 500 miles of range with the same battery size?😮
We love your POV when you show us the trucks.
Tài guìle - need Chinese cars and trucks that are half the price with the same features….
I put 50% XPel ceramic tint on the panoramic roof in my Bolt EUV. Made a HUGE difference! Prior I could feel the heat of the sun, but afterwards nothing.
the sierra is impressive and I will buy one eventually. It really needs 12v power in the e-trunk, and also a double cab configuration. I'm also skeptical about aftermarket bed accessories given the atypical shape. How long will it take for aftermarket companies to create a quality canopy for it?
That hummer would have been so versatile if it had a gas motor
Really nice... the GMC interiors are super nice, especially the full EV versions. All the bells and whistles are great, but I wonder how reliable that stuff will be over time. Again, awesome truck but who can afford these vehicles?
I love this truck. By the way, did GMC keep the passenger side door mirror with Convex glass or is it flat glass like the Silverado? (Hopefully it's convex).
The Hummer EV is a better off roader. It's also shorter which might fit better in some garages. But I agree for most people the Sierra EV is going to be the better choice. Personally I hope GM makes a short wheel base GMC Yukon EV that is at a reasonable price point (and can tow 12K lbs with a 2K payload) [like the 20 module Silverado EV]. The BT1 architecture was designed to accommodate 14, 20 and 24 module packs (24 module requires the longer wheel base).
Some other thoughts. Just to point out - if you turn off one pedal driving, full regen is still available through the brake pedal. GM vehicles always try to maximize regen no matter what mode your in and what pedal or paddle you push or pull. The difference is just software mapping.
Also the Sierra EV does not charge quicker than the Hummer EV SUV. Yes the Sierra EV supports 350KW vs 300KW in the Hummer EV SUV. But one has a bigger battery. At the end of the day each module can pull more than 500A and charges as the same speed. So the time to charge any of the GM Ultium vehicles is actually the same from the Equinox EV to the Sierra EV as long as you can feed them over 500A. The difference is the scale of the number of modules. Basically each GM Ultium module can pull a peak of about 15KW and charges at the same speed (given identical circumstances). So the 10 to 80% charge time should be roughly the same across them all. Though pack geometry might affect how each pack stores and releases heat which could cause some variance in charge times.
So 10 module Equinox EV (eAWD Blazer EV) peak 150KW
12 module Cadillac Lyriq (RWD Blazer EV) peak 180KW
14 module 2025 2WT Silverado EV peak 210KW
20 module Hummer EV SUV (or 3WT Silverado EV [or 2025 3LT Silverado EV]) peak 300KW
24 module Sierra EV (or 4WT or RST Silverado EV) peak 360KW
I appreciate GM not moving to exclusive 1-pedal driving like Tesla, I hate the regen amount on a newer Tesla. The paddle is nice but I like Kia’s option of a paddle on each side, one increases regen, the other reduces or turns it off. This is great for different applications, I use it all the time and it’s not buried in a menu.
The range is fairly impressive but it’s sad we’re doing it by just increasing the amount of batteries onboard instead of through efficiency and battery storage/energy density. For example, if the traditional gas truck with the 2.7 has 300 HP or 5.3 with 400 hp (or whatever it has now) could we get more range and/or less weight which would equal more efficiency too. It would also help towing/payload.
I think most people don’t realize payload is used for tongue weight and 1500 lbs isn’t a lot when you subtract 5-700 lbs for tongue weight, you may not get 4 adults and luggage.
Love the collapsible mid-gate, hate the small seats.
18:45 They put blank switches on a touchscreen!! And then they really had to make the headlights and opening menu instead of USING THOSE BUTTONS
Truck makers are missing the mark on range vs cost, cost isn’t the issue if you have 500 plus miles. Yet ppl wait bc these are their first GMC ev and will have issues
You should do a video with payload only does it lose as much mileage as when it’s towing on these electric trucks
Rims above 20" are for posers, as is 'motor noise'. And those prices really need to come down for the std models.
One gripe 😐 - None of the 10 or so cameras record 🔴 You still have to install a Dashcam.
GMC? 🤷♂️
MY concern.... what about registration charge ? Here in Canada, we have to pay like Super Duty registration, like 700$ per year and we have to do an annual mecanic inspection because of the weight of this truck! Doesnt make any sense at all! That why I think many here will stay to go with the Lightning instead of GMC Sierre EV or Silverado EV. We wont pay industrial registration and inspection for a "1500" serie truck !
I waited my whole adult life for this video!
Nice, the ball ac vent is back!
you don't need all that HP or the fast 0-60 speed. they could get more range if they slowed it down. that panel gap in the frunk is quite large for 100k
I think some white Plastidip, or some sort of wrap on that roof would take care of that sun issue, and maybe look cool, too. Let the light in but reflect the UV rays; that's what you're going for. Of course, in the winter time it'd be handy the way it is!
The mid gate is a stupid idea. Can’t have back seat passengers, can’t use it in winter without freezing to death, and can’t use it in the rain. This and GM’s multi-pro tailgate are overly complicated, over engineered ideas by people who have never used a truck a day in their lives.
Good video as usual. I was a big GM fan. I owned a 1995 Jimmy, 2001 Saturn Vue, 2006 Avalanche (best truck ever), and a 2016 Malibu hybrid. I found GM quality going downhill at each vehicle. I was so looking forward to the Chevy Bolt, but then was very disappointed to find it a subcompact hatchback. I ended up buying. a 2022 Ford Mach-e and still love it after 34,000 miles. I'd be really concerned with an 8,000# Hummer or Sierra EV and how long it would last before various interior and exterior problems arose.
17:50👀…………Uhhhhhh how does the Silverado have “blue cruise” from ford Andre?!! 😳😂😂🤦🏽♂️
17:53 But, Andre, it doesn’t have a Trunk Monkey!
Six-figure pickup trucks.
Meanwhile, there’s so much demand for the Ford Maverick that dealer struggle to build inventory.
GM has nothing to compete with the Maverick, not even close.
A Maverick sized EV pickup is long overdue in this market.

GM does have a vehicle that competes with the Maverick, but it is not available for sale in the United States.
There is a vehicle produced by GM Brazil called the Chevrolet Montana, but it is unlikely we will ever get it in the United States as it is based on GM’s emerging market platform.
@@TC-iz5hr My mistake, I was writing too fast. I was completely wrong, so I deleted the comment so I won't put out bad info. For some reason, I was thinking about the mid-size Ford Ranger. The Maverick is much more compact. The Ranger is more mid-size while the F-150 is Full-size. The Rivian is much closer to the midsized Ranger than the sized F-150. That's the sole reason I opted against getting a R1T. It was wonderful to drive, but I missed the room of that full size. My mistake! Thank you for bringing out the FACTS. I love it!
GM has the Montana but does not import it to the US!
How much does the higher altitudes there in Colorado affect 0-60 times? 😂😂

@@christianglaude6659 this ain’t Ford nor Tesla. GMC won’t be giving trucks away. You haters surely are salty though!
I agree on the sunroof - if it can’t be completely covered I don’t want it. Also not a fan of the huge wheels and skinny tires. Other than that I think it’s great, except I can’t afford it.
No Blue cruise, Super Cruise. Nice truck.
What's up with the fit and finish of the Sierra? The panels in the front trunk don't sit flat, have huge gaps and differ from each side. A 100k for that?
Hey Andre 😀
That’s a GM vehicle which has Super Cruise - Not Blue Cruise 🤪
I'll say it again, you can have a expensive item that isn't luxury. 100k doesn't equal luxury.
You should see how much our work trucks cost hahaha
Thanks for the review, Andre! 20:23 Right now, the Silverado EV has the highest tow rating of any EV truck (12,500 lb for the 3WT), and Chevrolet has announced that they will be releasing a Silverado EV variant with 20,000 lbs of towing capacity. I'm not sure whether GMC will do something similar for the Sierra EV line, but it's certainly possible. At the very least, I expect a Sierra EV with a 20-module Ultium pack with similar payload and towing capacities to the Silverado EV 3WT while still maintaining more battery capacity/range and faster charging than any other EV truck competitor.
Still think GM should have come out with a GMC full size SUV (Yukon / Yukon XL EV) instead and Chevy keep the EV pickup (or vice versa, GMC Sierra EV and Tahoe/Suburban EV). Just seems like there will be too much in house competition and the lack of a full size three row EV SUV will kind of hurt them. Lots of soccer moms looking for their next land yacht who would jump the fence to an EV one.
What charge port does the Sierra use? Can it go on the Tesla charger network?
This is a very nice truck and it has a lot of cool and many features.
But is anyone else thinking about the “regular guy” that this could be marketed towards? I think instead of only thinking about the big wigs that want the highest quality truck with the most features, come out with the EV truck more suitable for an everyday consumer.
There is some features that can be taken out, interior could be less flashy, which could possibly give more payload / towing / range.
I understand this is a Denali and it has to live up to the name. But why not start at the bare minimum of SLT if they’re wanting to make the AT4 and above anyway?
I was excited because I would definitely want to drive one, but 6 figures for a commuter at the end of the day is ridiculous.
They'll launch an Elevation tier in 2025, which will be cheaper. I guess it makes sense they're starting with top-of-the-line, gotta make those margins somewhere. EVs are currently money losers for GM.
Why would anyone pay even close to 100K for a Battery operated vehicle
But when will it have NACS built in
Great review but with similar battery and range like Silverado EV I can't wait for comparison because this will be luxury version of Silverado EV but more Expensive hopefully the next comparison with Silverado EV and the capability of trucks
If it comes with Google Maps and Waze and do not have AppleCarplay or Android Auto will you have to have a subscription to continue to use the navigation?
Realizing there is battery inference, a redesign to allow retractable step runners would be great. Also, why did GM not include a driver assistance handle on the pillar?
Im tryna figure out how would these get fixed when needed.
Everyone wanna sell something new and slick, but when it needs repair nobody wants to or have time to fix it.
let alone parts in back order and months to source them (typically parts involving electronics)… people going public to try get attention from head offices to fix vehicles… mind you this is not exclusive to EVs… looks like the new normal.
What are you talking about? Just making stuff up
Now tell us the most important thing. What is the largest TV you can bring home from Best Buy or Costco? It fits a 4x8 sheet of plywood?
It has to stand up. You can't lay it down.
Why is GM call this Sierra a 2024? Even if it came out 5 months ago, it should be a 2025. I swear it's simply to get CAFE credit for 2024 fleet.
Checks calender. Sees 2024.
No power switch, what do you do when you experience with frozen screen? People will experience this for sure; I think it would be nice if you can show how to reset the frozen screen without power switch.
10,500 lb GVWR and a 1500 lb payload means this is 9000 pounds and it doesnt even have a spare tire. Woof.
GM needs a Small EV truck, like Montana sized.
Small is hard, because batteries are big and heavy. GCWR takes a hit, leaving little for "truck" things.
@@Sylvan_dBnot true!
This may be my next truck as the range meets my wants and needs. I am a bit concerned about rattles from the pass through. Once it ships with the NACS connector I will have a decision on my hands.
Im not digging the tablet just slapped in the middle. The hummer did it fine, but the silverado Ev looks way better from the interior. The exterior goes to the sierra
Keeping an eye on these to see how they do.. A Hummer EV would be cool, but just looking at some of the forums, they are riddled with issues. Nobody needs that kind of headache.
Denali, more like Denial.
They looked at the bloated prices and absurd sizes of everything in the US EV market and vastly dropping demand for those oversized, overpriced, overpowered land yachts and said "hold my beer" before making... more of the same. I like my EVs but not like this.
Wake me up when small cars are a thing again. Hell, small pickups. Even when Ford can't keep up with stock on their "small" pickups (which are still big by 90's and 00's standards) due to overpowering demand, every large automaker is tripping over themselves to release more of anything but that. Yeah, right GM - nobody wants small and affordable. Maybe the next one can come with garage extenders and a tractor beam that pushes other cars out of the way so their new living room on wheels can fit among the plebian-mobiles all us dirty poors are driving.
Every time I hear 6 figures and truck in the same sentence I shake my head. Who can afford these things. You almost but a house for these prices and you sure could buy some decent land.
I’m not sure what the benefit is here of the Denali vs hummer Ev pickup it’s a slight interior upgrade and even that is up to preference but the hummer has so much wow factor I don’t see how they sell denalis at the same price
