Victor, if you see this, please know that you helped me get through a close friend's passing. He was young like me, and you never expect something like this to happen. During the viewing before the funeral, I noticed that his cheeks were pink and rosy, he didn't look caked in make-up and he simply looked asleep. I immediately thought about the things you mentioned about the red liquid and how it's used to bring color to faces. I also remembered how you talked about why morticians place the left hand over the right. All of those things were going through my head as I saw my good friend laying in the casket. And you know what? Knowing that he had received such good care because you detailed how bodies are to be handled and cared for brought some peace to my heart. Thank you, Victor. 🙏🏿
Hey @SupermanHopkins, I'm sorry about the loss of your friend. I've gone through it, too, and it's one of life's really hard things. I'm glad my videos have helped and I hope you continue to heal while never forgetting your friend. Seeing our loved ones is a difficult but beautiful thing. Take care of yourself, my friend.
Came looking for these videos to say the same! My grandpa passed away after an excruciatingly long time in the hospital, he was only the ghost of himself by the time he was gone, and all of us while being somewhat relieved that he was finally out of his suffering (if you've ever witnessed a loved one in a constant state of pain, you know what I mean), we did not want to remember him like that, and at first we wanted a closed casket so that other people wouldn't see him, because it was simply not fair to him...the mortician however reassured us, and did such an amazing job at preparing him that when we saw him in the casket we almost couldn't breathe, he looked more alive there than in his last months, so peaceful and serene that I fe it was almost therapeutic to us. I remembered Victor's videos, and same as you I felt better thinking of the care that the mortician must have put into doing such a great job and felt more grateful for it.
This man has both the most mortician name and backstory, he embraces death as a natural thing and he decided to make a job out of that. Truly inspiring, 10/10 person
Especially when he states that he feels it’s the least he can do for someone going through a hard time and he thinks about helping people through this one thing it’s very very inspiring and he has a great mindset about working a this job
What is more natural than death, it happens every moment all time, death leaves falling, ants eating, animals devouring other, man killing animals for food, they are dying like in trillions, life is build by death. Embraces death, it not need embrace, it already embraced by life.
I think he'd be a great host of any kind of science show. He's great at explaining things in an honest, straight forward sometimes humorous manner that anyone can understand.
you get used to just turning off your brain when you are treating bodies that are heavily mutilated. or, by the way, those that pass too young.... those are way harder to deal with than someone who's body has been (partially) damaged. its better to just turn off your brain, and fix it, then once you are done, look with pride at being able to give the relatives a proper last goodbye. Oh, and a lot of morbid humor between colleagues helps aswel.
He looks just like a guy they'd write/cast for a movie about a mortician in the 90's. A little goofy but you can imagine he can be scary if he wants to be.
@Yogi Breeze Having this reply pop up as a notification out-of-context at 1 AM was honestly terrifying to me lol. It’s not so much death that I’m scared of, I just don’t like the idea of people doing stuff to my body after I die.
Sameee Not terrified about the idea of “death”, but instead I hate reading/listening to things relating to flesh & blood like what morticians/doctors do to a body.
@Yogi Breeze felt like replying cause I think this is a good answer, in ways I am not afraid of death if it were a quick death like a gun to the head/heart, quick car crash or anything of the sort if it isn’t painful I’d say no I’m not scared cause I won’t feel it, if it were painful like bleeding out slowly and feeling the pain yes I would be afraid.
He's used to it as he does it for a living. I'm sure anyone would be able to enthusiastically talk about drilling mouths shut with a piston if they do it at least once every week
i agree when he said "you can help a family a way nobody else can" the funeral director/mortician for my grandmother was amazing. she looked beautiful and so peaceful. she didnt look scary or dead at all. truly like she was just sleeping. he was also so extremally kind. explained everything that was happening, what would be happening next. truly amazing people. i think it is such an under appreciated job.

As a funeral director, huge applause for Victor. We all have our little quirks, tips, and tricks of the trade, but I believe every answer he gave was spot on! You can tell he is a true professional.
Depends on how you see it. My best friend died in front of me when we were 5 years old and I couldn't do a thing. If you wish to believe he's in a better place because he was a great person...then you'll have not have a bad time with it because you watch it in a positive light . If you think that you're useless because your friend died in front of you and you didn't do anything....then obviously it's gonna haunt you for your life.
Never thought YOU would be so naive even after watching so much videos and all that stuff, seems to be that you would still like everyone else lack the knowledge that he's a psychopath, you just got horrifyingly seduced into believing he is a nice charming person by a psychopath, let that sink in... especially like already mentioned YOU, after watching so much youtube videos you still haven't expanded your knowledge and insight into psychology and behavior of others or even recognize behavioral patterns and interpret them accordingly to their possible and pertinent intentions and their comportment, not even your emotional intelligence seems to have been influenced by this constant watching of random youtube videos, these are interesting, of great significance acknowledgements and data for my research on further and advanced study of psychology about individuals...
I almost became a mortician, but towards graduation I developed an allergy to the embalming chemicals. I really hope these videos inspire more people to pursue educations in mortuary science.
He looks exactly like how I assumed a mortician would look like. His name is Victor M. Sweeney like pleaseeeee he's basically a tim Burton character. Love that
My grandfather passed away early this year. It made me feel very happy to hear about how they set his facial features. Seeing him not in pain and with his signature smirk helped me and my family a bunch.
There’s a rather local mortician who specialized in children’s funerals. When I talked to her she said she’ll ask the family the child’s fav show and then while prepping the body, she plays the show. Her belief is the soul sometimes watches their body, and she believe the fav show and comfort item being in the area helps the child’s soul. It’s actually really nice.
My brother passed by a self inflicted gun shot wound to the head, we really weren't ready(obviously) and begged the mortician to do whatever they could to give us an open casket. He did AMAZING it looked like he was sleeping peacefully. Totally helped my family grieve. What you guys do IS SO IMPORTANT, thank you!
Wow, impressive. I always thought open casket was weird, but when my son died all I wanted to do was see him for one last time. It didn't seem creepy at all. It's hard when people die so young isn't it?

@@nickchavez720 He would be incredibly easy to find though... maybe "The Mortician" might not be that good of superhero persona to hide your real identity behind, especially when your real identity is that of a funeral director. @@Calistarius79 that is part of the appeal. Dramatic irony! When the criminal is on the ground looking up at him and asks "Who are you?" He will say "Im the Mortician." Telling him the truth indirectly. Its funny.

This guy is a saint, he never laughs at questions, he takes them all serious. He’s making me realize how morticians do a big job that’s important for a family’s last moments and we don’t appreciate it because we don’t like to think about that portion 🥺

This guy is very smart. I did see his eyes drop when he mentioned child deaths when answering the PTSD question.. He cares so much about his clients.
This guy is surprisingly cute for a dude who deals with the dead all the time. And surprisingly charismatic for a guy with spooky backstory
He looks just like a guy they'd write/cast for a movie about a mortician in the 90's. A little goofy but you can imagine he can be scary if he wants to be.

Sameee
Not terrified about the idea of “death”, but instead I hate reading/listening to things relating to flesh & blood like what morticians/doctors do to a body.

@@giovanacarla7818 have you ever worked in a high school? I can assure you. If you've ever had to be a teacher it would probably make it much easier. Cathartic even
This guy does very much give off English teacher vibes

@@suppmydiff3257 very Edgar Allen Poe 😂
I recently lost my 2-year-old niece to RSV and we had an open-casket funeral for her. Everything that was talked about in these videos was in the back of my mind while I saw how peaceful she looked laying there. I'll never forget having to bury her so young😔
“Victor M. Sweeney” is the most hilariously mortician-esque name. Could only be better if he was called “Deathy McDeath”
D. E. Athkins xD
Deathy McDeathface
the M in his name is for Mortician
I was thinking the same thing!
You should meet his brother Todd.
He looks like a character straight out of a Tim Burton movie. The face, the charm, even the NAME. Oh my god hahah I like this guy.
VICTOR SWEENEY-
The ideal man. Obviously a psychopath
Lucky us hes a mortician and not a barber
HIS NAME LEGIT VICTOR SWEENEY BRO I CANT BRO HEL[P
He reminds me of george mcfly
He's so adorable in a...I guess...morbid kind of way when he talks about his job. How sad about his friend. I'm glad he turned such a traumatizing event into something more by helping people put their love ones to rest.
...
He's a psychopath btw, you literally just got seduced into believing he is a nice charming person by a psychopath, let that sink in...
@@arian6565 how is a psychopath
Don't be so naive around strangers, pls be careful this naiveness can be the cause of your death one day....
@@arian6565 are you a professional to diagnose him as a psychopath? and op is just expressing that they find the mortician adorable, how is that naive? we all are attracted to certain personalities.
i really like the idea that preparing the body someone you know can be comforting, since you are able to prepare and present them in a way that reflects the person you knew in life. It makes me realize that id personally really want people who know me to be very involved in my funeral and even help prepare my body in a way that reflects their memory of me. id want to be able to do the same too.
As a Funeral assistant it warms my heart to see people taking an interest in how we go about our jobs.
What exactly is a funeral "assistant?"
@@retroguy9494 a Funeral assistant does a lot of different things. Like transport, inventory management like peoples belongings that come in, and a whole lot of paperwork.
@@niallmeeks2819 also as a "fill in" Pall bearer...
This is scary😢
Funeral director and embalmer here. Also crematory operator. I so agree with this. I’m glad to see the job getting the recognition it deserves.
His backstory on how he became a mortician makes his character so much deeper
his friend and sister was so tragic
Imagine the trauma he got finding his friend dead at 4
@@flowermagnolia4551 everyone will lose some of their loved ones...
Yeah. Around 6ft deeper.
@@SupremeCommanderBaiser 😟
This dude is so polite/professional and seems like he actually enjoys talking about it. Like this kind of gives off some relaxing vibes despite it being a mortician
Totally!! I would imagine someone in that profession doesn’t get much opportunity to talk to people about it. Like no one would want to hear it or they’d be uncomfortable asking questions. Never mind the fact that most of the people he works with would be either grieving or dead. 😅
what I love about this man:
His name is perfect for a mortician
His outfit is beautiful (I need his fashion secrets)
His personality is awesome
His profession is amazing
He has some super interesting information that's cool to know
and finally, the way he treats every question like a fun teacher makes me feel engaged rather than scared.
He’s the prefect main character for his life story.
It would be weird if he was a side character for it.
Please answer this question. I thought that morticians took an oath of secrecy.
@@michaelchallis4129haha right? 😅
morticians aren't typically looked into so I wonder what they meant
@@memefaison6007 probably just for personal details
THAT IS THE BEST WAY TO DESCRIBE HIM.
Definitely should do a series with Victor. He's very enlightening on such a dampering subject. I honestly think it shouldn't be considered taboo, Death is natural and we'll all die eventually.
Check out Ask A Mortician!
I think the Queen is immortal
@@Mster_J She may be an exception 💀
Personally I thought it was a really weird subject. I was feeling sick hearing him talk ab the specifics. Idk how anyone can do that job for a living
@@keflalssj that's proof positive that the job isn't for everybody...
He is SO charismatic, in another life he should’ve been an actor or something. I love this guy.
He really gives me "john cena's brother" vibes
@Skelli that’s a bizarre observation??
@Skelli uhhhh....
@Skelli I’m not sure how can you tell someone who has anti social personality disorder but I’m pretty sure you can’t just assume he’s a psychopath
@Skelli skeletons have aspe
The “your there to help” line is big. That’s the answer I give when people ask the same about working with hospice patients. This stuff happens either way but I’m at least helping making it more palatable. Really resonated with me!
Yes, that's exactly what I say as well. I've been a hospice nurse too. Helping patients and families.
