Thanks for the advice on fabric! I've been sewing for many decades, and I'm still learning. Really liked your explanation about the different fabrics!
Glad it was helpful!
The new top is great but I love those flutter sleeves on the top you are wearing, so flattering on you
Thank you! I wear this shirt a lot!
Love your top ❤. I’m in Australia so I’m seeing a winter dress in merino wool using this pattern in my very near future.
That would be perfect!
Beautiful top! I’ve been wanted to make one like this for a while. Thank you for your wonderful detailed explanation of different fabrics and their drape.
I'm glad it was helpful!
That color is stunning on you! Great elevated basic top! I am so excited about the sleeve add on for tempo too. P.S. Love your new intro!
Thanks so much!!
Lovely result on that top. I've never been able to wear a cowl neck successfully. I'm short between the high bust and neck so no matter what I do it becomes far too revealing, looks like a horse collar gone wrong, or a run-down turtle neck if shortened. A cowl neck is just never a win but they are nice to admire.
I really liked the pattern preview of the dress with sleeves. I like that pattern but always need that bit of sleeve to avoid the chill from AC in big buildings. Thanks for the heads-up on the sleeve addition.
Agreed! What works outside in the summer doesn't always make sense in an office building. Thank goodness for layers!
I'm tempted to try this in a linen knit, which is lovely and has really nice drape.
Go for it!
Get some more blue fabric and make just the skirt. Viola, a two piece dress!
I could do that!
i have been searching for a pattern like this forever!! finally got the sinclair macy this winter and I made it (but probably in a not-drapey enough fabric) and it is just okay. i am super pumped about this lower drape option, double back and front drapes, and a dress! i might just also try a chorus/sunday romper mashup why NOT
Yes! I would love to see how that turns out!
Been looking forward to this style neckline for a while and great to have info on the fabric to use! BTW, great choice for the new introduction to your videos.
Thank you so much!
Thanks Whitney! Your dress is going to be beautiful!
Stay tuned!!
Love the top & the summer dresses. Thanks for the tips on the fabric choices. Love the slo on the sundres.
Thanks so much!
Like the new theme/intro music
Thank you!!
I have been waiting for a waterfall pattern to come out from love motions! So excited to be able to recreate some of my ready to wear. Great info about the fabric and the blue does look lovely on you. Thanks!
You are so welcome!
I love the look of the sleeveless dress on the pattern drawings. Very classy. Nice blue top!
Thank you!
Once again a great video with great content!
Glad you enjoy it!
❤❤ great fabric choice
Thank you! 😊
Love that top and the color. Looking forward to the dress!
Me too!!
Beautiful top! Thanks for the information on fabrics.
You are so welcome!
It was very helpful to see this piece made up, thank you! I came away realizing I should size up. The cowl neckline would work better on me if there's positive ease (vs negative) in the bodice. This winter I eyed a similar one-shoulder dress which could be hacked from the version in this Chorus pattern that had a cowl both in front and back. The Dissh "Cass" asymmetrical midi linen dress. It's woven, cut on the bias, but I could see translating it into a viscose jersey if the front waistband had support, like an internal stay tape or gentle gathers and an elastic channel as on the pattern.
I think that would work!!
This top looks so good - that color is lovely on you. Thank you for talking about fabric selection! That’s definitely a challenge for me. Do you feel any itchiness with the wool fabric? I’m so impressed that you use it for activewear. I’ve been cautious because I figured it would be scratchy when you start to sweat.
It's not itchy at all! And because it is a natural fiber, it breathes really well.
I purchased the Chorus and am looking forward to making after watching your video. Love the color on you. I also love the gold top you are wearing. The sleeves fall perfectly. Please share what patter it is. Thank you.
I'm wearing the Style Arc Posie Knit top in this video. It's a lovely pattern! I have a sew the look video on it if you're interested. If you search TomKat Stitchery Posie on UA-cam it should bring it up!

Hi Whitney, that is such a beautiful top and it looks amazing on you. I love that colour too. Please can you help me with something that bothers me about Love Notions patterns, but doesn't seem to affect you? When they offer a sleeveless option, it is literally the same pattern piece minus the sleeves when I tried that, the armholes and shoulders were both too big. Now, I reluctantly don't do any of their sleeveless options as I assume I'll have to toile and do pattern adjustments. Am I missing something?
That would be a great question to reach out directly to Love Notions about. I know they would really appreciate the feedback!
I miss your old music
It's still there on over 600 videos!
Great fabric info ❤
Thank you! 😊
Chorus looks much like Simplicity 9745 from 2001.
It sure does!
Hi Whitney...always appreciate you teaching us. A little worried about wool being itchy. As a child (many decades ago) I thought I was allergic. Never comfortable with a wool blanket. Wondering if I should still stay away from it or maybe if things have changed. xx Karen
Yes! Things have changed! This is not your childhood wool sweater!
@@TomKatStitchery thanks so much. Maybe I should risk it then and get 1.5 meters to start for a tank top of wool merino and see how it goes.
Love the wool knit - awesome color. Would it be itchy like wool tends to be?
It's such a beautiful color. It's not itchy at all !
Great top- and I love the color on you! However, after your interview with the stylist, I have been expecting you to talk about how you are modifying your style, Haven't heard you mention lately how she influenced you. I know you want to add more skirts to your wardrobe, but I think you had decided that before meeting with her, Is being an ambassador a constraint to being the individual you want to be?
Not at all--so many patterns have several views I can find many ways to express myself!
Question
Hello Whitney,
could I make the Chorus dress without the elasticized waist?
Thank you in advance for your help.
You totally could do that!
How do you handle washing and drying the wool spandex, and the wool nylon blend.?
I washed and dried the yardage when I first got it (just in case someone else does the laundry and dries the final garment), but now that it's made up, I wash it on a gentle cycle and let it air dry.
I love the neckline, what I am not too sure of is the fitted bodice. I don't wear knit tops that cup around and under my boobs. If I did a FBA of a couple inches or so and add a dart would that add enough fabric to hang loosely from my apex ? I have a 7 inch difference between my upper (38)and full (45)bust.
I think an additional FBA on the full bust piece (what I used) would give you enough room for it to hang looser. The full bust adjustment will give you added width in the waist as well as the bust which would keep the fabric from cupping under the boobs as well.
In using the projector file, where did you shorten your top? At the bottom? I’m still trying to navigate that.
I shorten at the waist, so I choose the "nodes" from the waist to the hem and shorten from that point.
@@TomKatStitchery with a projector file, do you just then move your fabric u gayer cutting to the waist.. I’m 5’3”. I have a little longer side waist measurement.
@@vernabeckstead5148 I do my alterations digitally before I project it onto the fabric. I use a free software called Inkscape. There are quite a few tutorials on the Sewing Projector website on how to lengthen and shorten your patterns digitally!
I downloaded Inkscape a couple of months ago. I watched some UA-cam’s.but felt overwhelmed. I need a step by step instruction. I need to get back to it. Thank you.
