What a gorgeous pattern. Your version turned out so lovely! I just got the pattern paper ready to trace and hopefully start on a version tonight 😁 Thank you for the sewalong, it was very helpful:)
Excellent video, thank you Tessa. This style looks great on all the testers. I love the neckline/band options and pretty princess seams. Could you use a 1 needle coverstitch for the topstitching?
Yes! One of our testers - Koe - added pockets with an easy hack. You can read her blog soon - I’ll try to update you with the link when she sends it out!
I wonder if you could just lengthen the center front only? That would mean altering the back neckband length and the markings on the bodice, but it would be an interesting experiment!
Great video. I hope I get around to making this dress eventually. What i did notice is you cut out without pattern weights, that's clever! Also, do you measure to get the grain straight? In didn't see that part
Thank you! You can definitely measure to get the grain straight. Technically, that is the correct method though we love to just eyeball it most of the time! ~K
This fabric is DBP - I think it was from Surge Fabric Shop here it is! surgefabricshop.com/collections/brushed-poly/products/camila-on-navy-double-brushed-poly
Great video! I am new to sewing and still a little nervous about negative ease. I am using DBP and my waist measurement falls in between L and XL. On the finished garment table, the XL is 4" bigger than my body measurement, and the L is just 2" larger. Because of my fabric choice, would you say that a L would be best in the waist? I like a good fit, not a snug fit. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks!
I’d probably go with a L in your case. For me, there was actually a -1” for ease because I’m on the larger end of the size large. So moving up made sense for me. But if you are under the finished measurement I would definitely go with the smaller size especially when it is at the waist and it’s a pretty stretchy knit
What a beautiful dress! And it is so amazing how it looks good on any shape of body!
We are really loving it!
Beautiful dress and Top! I can’t wait to make them! The dress looks gorgeous on you Tessa! Thanks for the sew-a-long!
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for the wonderful patterns and for being great people.
Aww thank you so much Denise for that wonderful compliment! ~K
So useful for different tastes
Lovely dress, it’s nice to see a sweetheart neckline in the pattern too.
The sweetheart is super cute too!

Oh yay! How exciting... happy sewing! ~K
Brilliant pattern!! I just donated a top that I no longer fit but love because it had this exact neckline!!!!!!!! xxxx
Oh you’ll have to make your own that feels great! 💜💜
So attractive
Oh thank you! Glad you like it! ~K

Your dress is beautiful!!
Thank you!
I love this video and the pattern, but this dress needs pockets. Is there a hack to add pockets?

I'd like the pocket hack too
How would I bring that neckline up? Such a lovely dress and top pattern

Do you think this could be adapted to add a colour block panel at the midriff by removing some from the bodice and skirt pieces?
I bet you could! That would be a fun look!
I have a semi-formal wedding this month. Would a Lennox midi in black fit that description? Thank you!
Oooo I think that would be lovely!
@@LoveNotions thank you! I’ll look for a lighter weight opaque knit and make longer sleeves. It won’t be too warm in the mountains on May.😊
Lovely dress and pattern! Where did you find the fabric?
This fabric is DBP - I think it was from Surge Fabric Shop here it is! surgefabricshop.com/collections/brushed-poly/products/camila-on-navy-double-brushed-poly
Thank you!
Do you use regular thread for the top stitching? Should I find a stretchy top thread? I have never topstitched on a knit.
I’ve used regular gutterman thread :)

Does the back have princess seams as well?
The back skirt has panels that mimic the front skirt but the back bodice does not have Princess seams :)
