    Justin Meldal-Johnsen, for me, has been ever since the early '90's a very inspiring bassplayer who's (in-and-out-of-the-box) playing, taste, flavours and noticable attitude represents everything I loved about (low-frequencies in) music from the past, present and what might be a or the future. He matched so extremely well with the bands and artists (and the albums he played on)! For four or five years, I also noticed his work as a producer and really love his work. I discovered some great artists, bands (and their bassists) and inspiring musical flavours I didn't know untill now . But I sure hope to see and hear him as a bassplayer for years to come!

      Methinks: After scanning the lead, the engineer selects the line tool, and simply draws a line on the harmony note of the lead - the effect is to reproduce the entire lead phrase on that single harmony note; as the engineer admits, this won't always work and may require each word/note of the phrase to be moved separately, which is exactly what he does for the second line when the lead dips down and then comes up at the end. Anyone else? Other comments are right - the lead note is on a G (natural 5th of Cm), the 1st or lower harmony is an Eb (the third), and the 2nd or higher harmony is a Bb (the dominant 7th),

    at 14/15 mins the guy (Jake) is talking Cm but has no clue. In WaveTunes he is pointing at G and talking C, he talks about E and it is Eb being the chord Cm and then says to Dave, hey and the next cool harmony is a C and according to his screen he is adding a Bb the b7, therefore making the chord Cm7. The song Great Pretender comes to mind. Oops!!!

    • @drewstapleton231
      @drewstapleton231 9 років тому

      I just came to read the comments and see if someone else noticed haha! How did this guy (Jake) decide on his chord then? Must have been by ear. Fake it till you make it baby!

    • @davidmood5161
      @davidmood5161 9 років тому

      The key of the song is Cm, but not the first chord of the chorus.
      The chord progression of the chorus goes like this: Eb - Gm - Cm.
      So the first chord consists of the notes Eb, G and Bb, and that is what he is showing.
      The only thing correct is, that he should have said E flat instead of E. But it's not so easy to talk and do the thing at the same time.

    • @KeithHutchinsonYT
      @KeithHutchinsonYT 9 років тому

      David Mood Beg to differ, the chord prog is Cm Bb Ab with the G&Bb harmonies above adding to the Ab making Abmaj9 .... Hey, we're all on the road to nowhere ao who cares.... have fun

    • @davidmood5161
      @davidmood5161 9 років тому

      Keith Vernon-Hutchinson
      Yes you are right, it's Cm Bb Ab, my bad.
      Then I'm not sure what the guy was doing or showing.

    • @KeithHutchinsonYT
      @KeithHutchinsonYT 9 років тому

      Not blind to anything, there are a number of ways to do that, eg Vielklang, Melodyne or of course with humans, real singers, who even possiibly sight read music and deliver a unique and a original vocal harmony. Anyway, it's only very basic 3 part harmony that he is trying to impress the world with and also trying to look good by getting Dave Pensado's support. Good for beginners I suppose...

    Wow all Herb does is interrupt and restate everything they said in a very drawn out fashion. There is no need for him.

  • @jasonjasonjasonjasonjason
    @jasonjasonjasonjasonjason 9 років тому +1

    Herb so selfishly interrupts after every thought someone else has, he needs to add what he thinks too and talks way too much. I gotta start timing how much time each person talks because I'm pretty sure this is Herb's Place now. And again like the last episodes while audience members are asking questions not directed to them you can see or hear them talking to each other and not paying attention to the question being asked to the guest.

      MyGameplaying haha do a time of possession for the next video please.

  • @annakat03
    @annakat03 4 роки тому

    Also, jeez Herb is just all about promoting stuff... I'm aware it's for their company or it's one of the requirements for sponsorships, etc, but there has to be better times to plug all the stuff he's been plugging other than, you know, while the interviewees are talking (facepalm) (cringe)

    Given that this is a show dedicated to the promotion of the art of audio recording, why oh why are you so lazy and amateurish when it comes to recording the opening (usually way too long) dialogs? It's embarrassing.
