- Jugger meta is chain meta! Dodging, blocking or catching the play-maker boffer is key to give your team a chance in line-play and beyond. Dedicated anti-chain players might be the most valuable players of all, and they will do anything to not get hit.

I feel like the biggest thing holding this back is the ability to clearly referee and enforce hits vs misses
Agree… I think maybe it would be great if weapons would paint somehow when hitting (?)
not nearly as bad as airsoft at least, it's a clear field and only 10 players
Yeah they need like more referees than football for it to be truly fair
@@jorge.iglesias Just use real weapons like the movie, if youre bleeding then you got hit
Everyone takes the hits
This is amazing. Every block Marion does is poetry in motion :)
Awsome!

OMG we need to implement clubs of this in france !
Yes please, do so! there have been experiments in france, i know of a group in Marseille, and the Jugger world map shows (former?) groups in Paris and Angers. Sadly i dont have any information about their recent activity.
Sidenote: i got some activity from france on this channel yesterday, was there a french jugger article or blogpost you know of?
thanks for stopping by!

Freaking awesome!
Epic
Beautiful :D
thank you!
With a meteor hammer you don't swing it over your head, you swing it to the side, that allows you to do elbow shots and foot kicks.
yep not one of those people using a meteor hammer even used it properly! a kung fu soft weapon and the hardest to master and a master of hidden strikes because you flick the rope off elbows, kick it, flick off your knee to create a new angle, use elbow to flick it behind you, can strike and be sent into another attack right away.
This looks fun as fuck
it is!
Very nice, narrow team selection though
sadly thats true.. but these were the finals i got to film. also, the level of anti chain play is exceptionally high in zonis and rigor, and so they show up even more.
To clarify : you need the skills to pay the Bills!
This awesome hands down!

Wait till the chinese martial artist gets into this.
well bubba fyi there are people that train in Kung fu that are not chinese........ the meteor hammer takes years to master even longer to perfect!
@@antlerr no, wait till the CHINESE martial artist gets into this.
@@fineth9319 bubba gump I am Canadian dad was born here mother also.... and I am not the only canadian that trained in Kung Fu and fyi the weapon I choose to master just so happenes to be the meteor hammer, and the Bostaff! I will tell you again not just Chinese people can train and master Kung Fu, got one friend we met in the park he seen me training (doing my kata and practising my meteor hammer) he had a bostaff with him and we both decided to sparr. Because he and I both knew Kung Fu everyone thought we practised that fight for months before we did it that day but reality we only just met! You need to learn not just chinese can learn Kung Fu just like theres not just brazilians knowing capoara (the dance fight) just like theres not japanese that learned that thing steven seagull knows that is totally useless.... wake up to relity kid!
@@antlerr set that alarm and wait till the chinese get there! Don't forget to wake up!
@@fineth9319 yep you are retarded beyond all belief... diflection good job dumbass shows you know your fked and in wrong and have nothing to defend your claim. typical!

It would have been nice to someone actually use the meteor hammer properly, rather ignorantly swinging it
haha. what is proper use except swinging? these are all clips from high level games, maybe the players were in suboptimal position, but no one is playing bad here. as an anti chain player, you have to play very reactive and use small missteps of your opponent. i really recommend you to watch a full game. you will get a much better feeling how dominant the chain is and how good the counters are i show here.
anyway, thanks for stopping by!
@@JuggerMasterclass ya I watched a full game, I even gave it a thumbs up. My point still stands. Throughout the match the ball chain players only/mostly used negative spins with way too much slack, resulting in wide and unfocused throw. Not to say they're bad players, they make some awesome games. All I'm seeing is potential players not trying enough
@@JuggerMasterclass it'll probably be more honest in terms of culture to study traditional, 'rope dart' or 'meteor hammer'. That'll make some awesome players
@@jonnupe1645 When I initially read your comment, I was kinda curious what exactly you meant, when talking about the rope dart/ meteor hammer.
Now, after having watched a whole lot of videos on the topic, I can say this: HOLY SHIT! 😳🎊 The people, who use traditional rope darts are absolutely crazy!
But coming back to the use of the chain (that's the name that is used in Jugger):
I could see some of the rope dart moves being really useful In Jugger, for example foot and elbow shots. But mastering them, in a way that you could use them on the field, would take years 😢
The way, the chain is used in Jugger is pretty different and this style of combat has evolved into what it is over the last 25 years.
So, thanks for putting my onto rope dart and I'll be happy to give those things a try 😉
Sorry, if my comment isn't super structured - I just had a lot of thoughts that I had to get out 😁
You're right on the point that chains in Jugger are much less elegant than meteor hammers. But to compare these techniques in context, traditional meteor hammers and rope darts are more of a form of art than of fighting.
In Jugger the goal of a duel is to tap an opponent - not hurt him/her - while the opponent uses all of his skill to no get tapped. The risk of getting injured are very small. With that context both players want to learn the most efficiant way to duel against an aggressive opponent.
Rope darts and meteor hammers on the other hand are not very efficiant against an aggressiv opponent in battle plenty of reasons. But as a form of art on its own it's beautiful and impressiv.
So in all seriousness you can't really compare the skills. A chain player can't show off in rope dart and a rope dart "artist" wouldn't domenate in Jugger.
Tho those look pretty simular if you don't know both.
*easy to block with armor/shield, ridiculous amount of precision required for dangerous attacks, unnecessarily hard to master, not very flexible legwork, at best useable in 1on1
