Hi i got a light blue 87 rag top convertible corvette show car im almost finished with. If you got an email I wouldn't mine sending pics of it and can tell you the mods i did. I scrapped my L98 motor after i scarred number 7 cylinder from beating the rpm too high racing a hellcat on road. The L98 was only 3 month old fresh motor at the time with 425hp after my mods. The new motor i just built is a 4 bolt main 3970010 high nickle block with forged internals and dome pistons. It is now 404 cu in 6.6 liter with 600+ hp. Car also now has long tube headers and 3in exhaust. I restored whole car now to new everywhere including underneath. My motor, transmission, and irs rear end are blue, silver, and chrome to match the whole car. I also did led light upgrades inside and out. My 87 sits on ZR1 rims. I can say this if you want yours to be strong with the L98 make sure you remove the huge balencer on water pump if yours is equipped some 87 models have them. Get rid of smog pump with pulley delete kit and plug off or weld up the small tubes going into factory manifolds. Install new comp cam and throw away the fuel injection which isnt capable of more then 350 hp. Install and edelbrock performer dual plane intake and convert to carburetor. Holley makes an excellent fuel pressure regulator to return fuel and use to factory type fuel pump in tank but lower pressure for carb. The edelbrock performer is real low and with a drop down air cleaner everything will still fit in factory hood. This is only way to get 425hp out of the factory L98.
