Hope you guys are enjoying the series. If you're finding this channel for the first time and this video helped, subscribing will make me trip over something where ever I'm walking.. it's weird. Not sure why that happens. Probably some psychic thing. Oh well. Enjoy the vid.
Question: How would I set this up when my output (i.e. what I hear) goes through a DAC? I ask because while I was watching I tried the system settings part and immediately lost sound to my soundbar. The DAC is also where I plug my headphones in when I'm using them. Thanks. Awesome video, too!
Oh wow! I just bought my first ever XLR mic like a week ago using only what I’ve earned from commissions and I’m now waiting to be able to afford a Streamdeck + with the XLR add on, this came out at a very good time for me!
Thank you so much for this video! I was searching for ages to find something which explained each part of the set up process of the Wave Link software and couldn’t find anything so I just gave up with it. Thanks to this video, it’s now all set up properly and I can’t wait to start making my content better! 😊
This was educational to me in so many ways. I was overly worried about switching between my dynamic and condenser mic and thinking phantom power would break my dynamic mic, the sub mix demonstration/breakdown, and how to listen to my mic without getting the processing delay were all things I didn't quite understand until this.
Thanks, man! This is really insightful! My setup is a bit of a nightmare, haha! I have a dual PC system that sends my microphone, mixed with my game audio, to the streaming PC. There, I add music to the stream using OBS. The main purpose of this setup is to save a clean, high-bitrate copy of my stream without my webcam footage, as well as a high-fidelity voice track on my main gaming PC. I dislike the setup, but at this point, I'm hesitant to spend more money to achieve the same sound quality. I'm using an Elgato Wave XLR, a Rode Podcaster, and an Elgato 4K capture card. I want that SM7B microphone, but I keep hearing audio samples from reviewers like you, and I don't notice a significant difference.
This totally saved me some time. Thank you! I was banging my head on why I couldn't override Sonar for my Stream Deck Plus. Just needed to go into the windows settings and manually change that sound setting for the apps!!
thank you for this! i have been hearing myself by unmuting on the volume adjustment instead of inside the settings, not know there were two ways to listen and i'd test it by recording my voice to see how i sounded! This will be a lot better and i can't wait to fix this now!
Even already knowing most of the stuff, I am keep watching tutorials just to keep myself refreshed and up to date about how to stream setup. Also I can learn some new thigs, that been added to the software or new hardware
I'm 68, by the time you finish this Master Class... I will be dead. Love the videos though. Just wishing they were coming quicker. Thanks for the help.
Awesome video! Cant wait to see Part 2. There is some stuff I would love to dial in with the Elgato Wave XLR and Shure SMB7 that I just cant seem to nail down....
ooooh, i'm excited for the next part cause i'm not really utilizing wave link software to obs cause i want to audio split but don't know how to do it with the wave link software. so the wave link software is just for my own use, haha
Hi Senpai Gaming, Could you please make a video about how you can see all your live chats from different platforms in one chat? Because it's very annoying to look at 3 or 4 different live chats, to just have to look at 1 chat could be a game changer for me.
How are you running an XLR into the computer and using a mirrorless camera? Are you having to sync audio in post or have you got something to record in the same file?
Awesome video Harris! Regarding copyrighted music and VODs and streaming, when can you listen to copyright music and when can't you? I know if there is copyright music in your VOD it gets muted, but are there rules about having spotify just playing normal copyrighted music while your streaming? And would you want to focus on using StreamBeats for like youtube videos or something like that that you're making?
my only concern here is when you want things split between tracks when doing a capture. everything is coming through on 1 audio source so If you want to record and later edit out the discord/music audio, youre kinda stuck
Hi, quick question, I don't currently have an audio interface but I'm thinking of getting one. However what I'm trying to wrap my head around, I currently have OBS set to put my game, voice and system audio onto separate tracks, so when I put the video into Da Vinci later, I can edit them individually. What you've demonstrated very well here (thank you!), applies for streaming mainly as I understand it? So if I'm not streaming, just recording and uploading later, would I still want to do the mix here and have it in OBS as one channel/track or? Hope this makes sense?
Buy a focusrite interface they have better preamps and are very reliable Or buy a volt 1 series from UA, the volt has a vintage 610 preamp emulation mode and the volt 76 has a 1176 compressor emulation mode as well
I've got a question! How would you set this up with a wireless headphone? Considering I am now unable to plug in directly to my wave XLR, and I get a little delay in my own voice monitoring which at times causes me to stutter due to delayed feedback.
I have a Shure sm7bd microphone, plugged into my Elgato Wave XLR, and when I turn off the 'Phantom Power', my voice no longer is picked up in the microphone. I hear a hiss sound, but no matter how high I raise the gain, it does not register my voice. Any idea what I might be doing wrong? I do have the gain set at +28 on the back of the mic, if that helps at all. Thanks for any help. 🙂
Hey. I recently started streaming again after a 4 year hiatus. When I was doing it back in 2020, my audio sounded good. But when I tried to stream last week it was glitching out on me. I have a more powerful computer than I did back then and better internet than I did back then, but for some reason the audio sounds like it's glitching out of control. All my audio equipment is the same. Any advice?
So I’m new to streaming/recording. I just setup an OBSBOT Meet 2 with a Fifine dynamic mic using their XLR interface. When I record in OBS either in 4k or 1080, my video and audio are off. I’m not sure if it might be settings or my actual pc. Any thoughts?
I have a request! I really want to be able to tune the speakers at my desk. I'm a theater technician working in audio so even though i'm not a streamer I really appreciate your videos and almost have my dream setup at home based on your recommendations. However, because i do audio professionally there are things i have at work i want at home but there's not a solution for the consumer space. There are interfaces from RME for example that have a DSP built in but they are crazy expensive. If you have anything in mind or come across something in the future i would love your opinion. I'm also a dual PC (Mac and windows) user so i would love your thoughts on a setup that makes that easier. Thank you so much!
So I have the Shure MV7+ hooked up to the XLR dock. I’ve adjusted my settings via wave link and my mic is producing a hiss as I’ve increased the input gain.. I’m a low speaker so I need the gain. I sound better but the hiss is there. Any suggestions?
Does anyone not use just a stream mix from elgato but rather still import everything one by one for audio ducking. While I love the simplicity of one stream mix, I also enjoy the separate recorded tracks on my recordings.
The second I do step 1, i can no longer hear any sounds on my pc. If i change the default to anything but my SteelSeries Headphones through GG, no more computer sounds.
Windows reeeeally needs to implement a "Do not auto-switch audio devices" checkbox somewhere in those settings. Like, in windows 7 days. Hell I even made a button for them on my Twit-.. Excuse me; X. All they need to do is make it work, and not break something else.
Gonna have to disagree with reccomending any interface that both transfers signal and is powered via the USB. The USB power hub is going to be stressed on your computer especially if you're streaming with multiple video sources. I speak from experience as both a producer and streamer that eventually these devices will start popping on you overtime. do yourself a favor/save yourself some dough (both upfront and longterm) and get a behringer mixer that uses its own powersouce and has a usb out. You'll be able to learn on a real physical board, with multiple inputs as you grow, and monitor yourself + your computer at the same time with no latency.
Hope you guys are enjoying the series. If you're finding this channel for the first time and this video helped, subscribing will make me trip over something where ever I'm walking.. it's weird. Not sure why that happens. Probably some psychic thing. Oh well. Enjoy the vid.
Quick question, I've got both a Rodecaster Pro 2 and a StreamDeck+/XLR Dock. Should I run my SM7B through the Rodecaster or through StreamDeck?
Question: How would I set this up when my output (i.e. what I hear) goes through a DAC? I ask because while I was watching I tried the system settings part and immediately lost sound to my soundbar. The DAC is also where I plug my headphones in when I'm using them. Thanks. Awesome video, too!
"Don't overspend on a microphone" oh I will.
LOL!
If you want, you can buy a bunch of mic's and test them all. And then stay with the one you like the most and return the rest.
Haha 😂 same!
I just bought the SM7DB and Stream Deck+ with the XLR dock, so this video came out at the PERFECT TIME!
Oh wow!
I just bought my first ever XLR mic like a week ago using only what I’ve earned from commissions and I’m now waiting to be able to afford a Streamdeck + with the XLR add on, this came out at a very good time for me!

watching this as someone with a beacn mix create, I'm so happy that they created the perfect way to control how all my sound outputs
This totally saved me some time. Thank you! I was banging my head on why I couldn't override Sonar for my Stream Deck Plus. Just needed to go into the windows settings and manually change that sound setting for the apps!!
this series has been amazing, you explain everything very clearly and easy to understand

The class I have been waiting for! Thank you!
its like you knew i needed this video. I have been struggling so much with getting my shure mv7x up perfectly. this was such a help. THANK YOU
patiently waiting for the vst video cause this is where i struggle
Thanks Harris, love those series
Need part 2 of this video ASAP!! This fixed my mic being sooooooo quiet. 10/10
Even already knowing most of the stuff, I am keep watching tutorials just to keep myself refreshed and up to date about how to stream setup. Also I can learn some new thigs, that been added to the software or new hardware
50 seconds into the video I've heard the best advice every microphone review should say. You don't need a $400 mic, and don't overspend.
I'm 68, by the time you finish this Master Class... I will be dead. Love the videos though. Just wishing they were coming quicker. Thanks for the help.
You sir! are THE BEST! Thank you! can't even wait for the rest of this series!..
Thought I made a mistake getting an XLR mic and the Stream Deck with the XLR attachment... thank you for this video so much less intimidating now!
Awesome video! Cant wait to see Part 2. There is some stuff I would love to dial in with the Elgato Wave XLR and Shure SMB7 that I just cant seem to nail down....
Been waiting for this one, thanks for putting this out.
Thanks for this vid. While I wont be able to use all of it, I will be using a lot of it at work no less. 👍 Keep 'em coming!
ooooh, i'm excited for the next part cause i'm not really utilizing wave link software to obs cause i want to audio split but don't know how to do it with the wave link software. so the wave link software is just for my own use, haha
Thank god someone makes a video with the SM7B and the Wave XLR
Harris: "I like to hear my own voice" - we know brother, we know ;) Great video, thanks!
can I use my focusrite solo on wave link
I literally bought a Rode Podmic USB/XLR last week lol and am using your EQ on the Wave XLR. 👍
Part 2 please. Dying to get rid of voicemeter to split my audio from my vods. Would love another way
Great video! Would love to see you do this set up using the rodecaster duo or pro 2
Does the Elgato software work with Scarlett interfaces or does it strictly work with Elgato interfaces?
I'd love to see a RODE Central version of this!
Tremendously helpful. Thank you H
Hi Senpai Gaming,

Looking forward to next epidsode!

would I have to connect the USB mic directly into the CPU or into any connection that takes USB?
Could you do a video on setting up effective sound foam?
Just bought a Wave XLR 😂 This is gonna be fun. Still waiting to buy a Heil PR40. I know people hate the sound. I love it.
Also can't wait for part 2. That's where I'm at in the process.
love the video thanks senpai , can you compare the Elgato software to SteelSeries sonar ?
my only concern here is when you want things split between tracks when doing a capture. everything is coming through on 1 audio source so If you want to record and later edit out the discord/music audio, youre kinda stuck
What is that cool white mic arm? I like how low it sits on a desk and would work well for me.
Very nice. Learned some cool stuff. Thanks very much.
Amazing video with a lot of information i think i learned something new today thank you for make it simple ❤❤
Can you use a Blue Yeti to a AMP? and if yes will be improve the audio better with the XLR connection over the USB connection?
Always love the vids!
Super video, yet I'll say that single track is fine till you need to edit multiple audio sources in Premiere.
Thank you senpai ❤
just what I needed, thank you for this!
Very informative video ☺
whens the part 2 coming for the vod track ive been trying to figure it out and its still coming through twitch
I would love to see how to set up obs alerts with this setup

400 dollar mic! Im still using my original blue snowball from eBay that I bought for 10 bucks! 😂
Same... but my dad got mine from his work for points lmao
Great as always
Can you use this same process using a apollo interface?
Can you do this without an xlr just the stream deck wave thingy I want this for music cause I I can’t play with music to loud clever stuff
can you send the final mix to the streaming PC with the stream deck +?
How do you get that circle camera window instead of the traditional square?
I've got a question! How would you set this up with a wireless headphone? Considering I am now unable to plug in directly to my wave XLR, and I get a little delay in my own voice monitoring which at times causes me to stutter due to delayed feedback.
I should probably use the wavelink software at some point, but I'm so entangled in the mess that is voicemeeter that I'm not sure I can be bothered.
so how come you use a SHURE mic with the Elgato software? i assume you do not use a GOXLR?
You can use shure mics any other outside Elgato, and they will be working just fine, you will be able to tune them and use VST
Have you or can you do something on mic arms?
I have a Shure sm7bd microphone, plugged into my Elgato Wave XLR, and when I turn off the 'Phantom Power', my voice no longer is picked up in the microphone. I hear a hiss sound, but no matter how high I raise the gain, it does not register my voice. Any idea what I might be doing wrong? I do have the gain set at +28 on the back of the mic, if that helps at all. Thanks for any help. 🙂
In the next one could you recommend some top budget ones that still support sub mixing and such plzzzz btw $250 is not budget
I have a BEACN MIX. Can i use the software of BEACN with the shure sm7b and the elgato stream deck + with the dock?
What output do you choose for DIscord?
Did they fix it so you can use Nvidia Broadcast finally? Last I checked it was borked.

How come you never did a review on M-Game's RGB Dual audio mixer???? It's like a GoXLR but it's affordable.
So I have the Shure MV7+ hooked up to the XLR dock. I’ve adjusted my settings via wave link and my mic is producing a hiss as I’ve increased the input gain.. I’m a low speaker so I need the gain. I sound better but the hiss is there. Any suggestions?
can you link youtube music in wavelink
What USB mic are you using?
I need to take all my gear out of the boxes like you and throw them out I have way too many boxes lol.
Does anyone not use just a stream mix from elgato but rather still import everything one by one for audio ducking. While I love the simplicity of one stream mix, I also enjoy the separate recorded tracks on my recordings.
Shocked to not see a focusrite in the “favorite” list.
This is the update to the GoXLR video from a few years ago!
Now tell us how how to mute the music in the VOD. When the stream mix is the audio source please.
Can you show how streamers mute there mic for stream and sound from game and how that works?
first time i ever watch a video early
The second I do step 1, i can no longer hear any sounds on my pc. If i change the default to anything but my SteelSeries Headphones through GG, no more computer sounds.
Why isn’t my Procast showing up under “recording”??
Feel like I've been transported to 2020 😅
