This video helped us all the way through, THANK YOU!!!
I appreciate your video and all the effort it took
I am learning , more and new ways, to try repairs watching your videos. Great job Jim!
I'm happy to share my knowledge.Thank you for stopping by the shop
I was quoted 750.00 to do my Rotors and Pads on the same type vehicle, Guess they lost a customer because I can and have done it myself before. Thanks Jim for this awesome video.
YOU SHOULD MAKE A VIDEO ON: [ PARKING BRAKE IMPORTANCE ] SO IMPERATIVE CRUCIAL TO SERVICE A PARKING BRAKE ESPECALY ON A AUTOMATIC TRANS... YEP
Good job, my dad just asked me to help do his in Colorado, heading up from Az to do this brake job for him!! Thanks!
Glad I could help!
That was very good I don't do half the stuff u do when doin my brakes great instructional video for would b mechanics
Glad it helped
Why mention torque specs but not torque settings.
Torque specs?
What is the torque setting for the bracket assembly? And is Locktite recommended for the bolts on the caliper assembly?
Missing information on this.
Why no torque specs??????
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING ON THIS BRAKE JOB IS THE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTMENT SIR, YEP / IF PARKED ON A HILL AND PARK BRAKE IS OUT OF ADJUSTMENT YOU CANNOT GET IT OUT OF PARK. TO MUCH FORCE IS ON THE TRANSMISSION AND STUCK ON PARK BECAUSE OF THE PARK BRAKE IS LETTING THE PRESSURE ON THE DRIVE SHAFT BIND THE TRANSMISSION GEARS, SO YOU MISSED THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS THE PARK BRAKE INSPCTION AND ADJUSTMENT JIM...
Nice tips Jim for rusted rotor removal. Some mechanics recommend opening the bleeders when compressing the caliper pistons to avoid forcing contaminated fluid back into sensitive ABS systems especially on modern vehicles. Do you see this a necessary?
Great vid. Loved the blooper!!
Thank you for stopping by the shop. and you feedback
Superb review - best I've seen and I've seen them all.
Thank you. Live stream Sunday night jimthecarguy at 7:00 PM .I hope you can stop by.
Great video. If you have a stuck pin, is cleaning the slide pin bore and replacing the pin okay? I usually pack the grease in the bore and the pin is a little bouncy. Maybe I shouldn't use so much grease.?
I liked the blooper. Can you do brakes with your eyes closed yet? Those are some hefty brakes on that dude. Too bad the owner had to buy the whole assembly. Great stuff Jim.
Hi Wyatt,I'll bet I can do the brakes with my eyes closed.Wait that a great idea for a video. To be continued.
Jim,I have heard that on some vehicles it is recommended that you open the bleed screw to push the caliper pistons back, because you may cause damage to the vehicles ABS system. Have you had any experience like I mentioned?
I'm happy to help.Thank you for stopping by the shop.
never back flush the fluid into any ABS bank system it can plug up the tiny holes in the ABS bank... big mistake to do that. always open the bleeder screw he just trying to save time pushing all that old fluid back into the ABS bank which is a $5000 replacement he knows that,,, my boss would fire me if i did something that stupid...
I need instructions to adjust parking brake please
Good video Jim.
Thank you for stopping by the shop
Jim - great brake video on HD Van. One question - why not to use C clamps to compress caliper pistons instead of pry bar??
You can use a C clamp but for me it is quicker with the pry bar.
If you can't tell me the size of a socket or torx, what good is this
Now that’s the way it’s done.
Why on earth would you not say the torque spec???
Great video !
Thank you very much for posting this video , now don' t have to pay someone else 200$ to change my vans :D :) :)
I just replaced rear shoes and drums on my 2000 express 2500 when i put lug nuts on the passenger side i cant turn the tire what am i missing
Jim, great job. Two questions... is this the same for my 2012 Express 3500? And what are the torque specs for those various bolts?
Yes it should be almost the exact same procedure.
How long does It take to fix breaks
27:32 Rear brakes
Very good Jim.
Thank you for stopping by the shop
Tork specs please
Do you recommend putting Neverseeze on the caliper mounting bracket bolts?
i always do....plus, i was told never use standard grease on breaks because it burns, and gets sticky
Jim: If the car has ABS can you bleed the same way or do you need a dealer scanner??
No need for any special dealer scanners
Thank you sir 🫡
at 32:20 i see vise grips clamp on a brake fluid line ??? big no no .... can and will damage the line every brake tech knows that, they make a tool to stop flow of fluid a pinch clamp with very low pressure, and all i use is a rubber cap on the end of the line man, there is no pressure there unless someone crazy push on the brake inside of van???
Thank you boss
Thank you.
How do you treat the cancer from breathing all that crap?
Who taught you how to do brake jobs ???
Mabe it’s Bs …whit is tork specs. After a look all asking spec tork 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
