Easy to follow instructions to replicate James Hetfield's guitar tone for the new single Lux Æterna.
I used the ML Sounds - Roots Amp 5034, and modified the settings as close as I could to Hetfields tone. I think its pretty close for free - what do you think?

Hey I am new to this Channel and just wanted to say thank you! Finally the stuff I play sounds like the way it should. I have bought studio monitors like a year ago but only for my desktop to listen to music but i recently wanted to play guitar again (I played as a kid). I was lost with all the settings and now I enjoy the sound so much!

That's one hell of a free plugin. And you can import IRs too. Bogren has some free ones right now. And of course the usual suspects, god-cab, jimmy, and SNB. The built in cab with the roots is pretty good but always has a muffled top end to me so I generally use a different IR.
hard to top this one for free! I love it and is so amazing for recording after struggling to mic my real amp for casual home recording. Thanks for watching my stuff man -cheers

Hi Rich Hofmann, Thanks for your video's. I like them. Also I'm new with this and I downloaded the free plugin from ML-Sound-Lab. I had to use the installer and now I can see the Amp when opening the program. My question is when I am opening GarageBand, the plugin doesn't show up in the plugin area you showed in your video above. How can I use the Amp with GarageBand on my Mac? Ik hope you will/can answer my question. Best regards Marcel
I suggest restart you Mac and Try to open GarageBand again. It should be in the plug in section then. Sometimes it won’t show up unless you restart everything

For this tone profile yes it is heavily based on the roots amp. The sound heavily depends on the cabinet settings that I chose here also.
You'd probably get better results by having less gain and layering more tracks. James doesn't use a lot of gain currently and doesn't like boosted tones. If you wanted to get more exact you could get a Diezel VH4 plugin since that combined with the 2C+ is what he uses nowadays.
Thanks for the suggestion, but my goal was to try to achieve something close with free options in GarageBand.
