That was the moment that made me think he doesn’t actually believe this shit and is just playing devil’s advocate for content. Using a mocking tone when describing an incredibly common occurrence is crazy. Might as well be arguing craterhoof is bad because what do you need trample for if you have so many creatures?
Really? It's common that you have enough power on creatures to end the game but no way to grant evasion or kill one player and protect yourself from the crackback?
Richard has a very clever strategy: Campaign against all the good cards and make people play relatively okay cards -> Richard never having to play vs Rift or Swords -> more game wins for Richard
The Richard on anything that interacts with the board: useless, makes you arch enemy Richard on open the way: number one green card, love tapping out to ramp a few random lands, much better than ramp that gets untapped lands like skyshroud claim, or cheaper like nature's lore. It's not that bad but what the heck!? And I'd 100% attack someone that did that.
@@Spaced92but what about opposition agent? Lol Tapping out is okay on some turns because it can make other people feel responsible for policing the board and if people see their opening to drop a bomb, you just opened the way for your boardwipe next turn. Lol. It's a pretty casual card that's never actual terrible. That's the real reason.
Richard is really helpful as a card analyst because he's constantly wrong. So when he says "Raise the Palisade is bad" you know that its actually decent at worst, and fantastic at best.
Yeah, Raise the Palisade is a fantastic way for a kindred deck to punch through a board stall and win (or at least take out a player or two). Saying "it makes you arch enemy" is the same as saying "this is really powerful" and would only really be a problem if it didn't take players out!
He likes cards that don't have much of a downside. He doesn't value boom or bust. People hate how much he likes meh cards that are rarely bad, but those are the cards that win in multiplayer.
My brain breaks whenever Seth or Richard assert that the entire table will just expend all their resources to kill you if you play a hate card instead of just removing it. I think it comes from how they never play removal but even then, one player set back by you an archenemy does not make.
Thats most play groups tho if you are dropping bombs even if they are removed you are seen as the threat the rest of the game now i think they take it way to far and call cards bad for being good which is wild but its a factor you have to keep in mind when playing those cards
For 2 mana, it balances your mana, provides graveyard removal, adds +1/+1 counters (and likely activated abilities) for free and in any counters deck, it can be ridiculously broken, adding abilities to all your creatures.
@@Dragon_Fyre yes but most decks don’t need ALL of those just one maybe two, and there are always more efficient ways to do it. Not saying it’s not good I love that card, but the impact isn’t enough
I think in a vacuum, Taunt from the Rampart is better, card vs card… but Raise the Palisades can go in so many decks, where Boros is one of the least popular color combos (I think Boros and Selesnya are the least played based on EDHREC). It’s not that Roaming Throne for an example is too powerful (Mother of Machines is better), except that being colourless, it can effectively be in 80%+ decks. Mother of Machines, requires you to have White as an option. So because of that I think Roaming Throne is a far better card to have in your collection. The same goes for Raise the Palisades.
@Dragon_Fyre very fair, I just love how much it progresses the game (or finishes it). Great politics card to take out archenemy too. The color pairing really is the biggest drawback lol
Roaming throne is also insane in artifact centric decks with the "artificer" creature type. I put it in my Toggo/Ich Tekik partner deck, who are both artificers, and I have several more artificers with strong triggered abilities, but my deck definitely isn't artificer tribal. In fact it is actually closer to golem tribal, having many more golems than artificers, but I will still name artificer with roaming throne every time.
I agree with the Galadriel Dismissal - its super good. The arguments that You need to keep 4 mana is not correct. You can keep 1 mana as "singel protection" / "Singel iteraction" on opponnets turns, and use it as "kill a playr" on Yours turn. This IS amazing in any combat focus deck.
Feel like the entire cycle is slept on. They are MDFCs that fix. The black one is 6 power super menace that finds its way into GYs almost for free. The white one is a bad anthem, but it fixes your mana in white, can the anthem is good enough it can find wins or times where you can force your opponents into bad blocks.
Faery Mastermind is a CEDH staple. At least everyone on the LGS I play adds it after rhystic and remora as their carddraw. Crim is right. That card is GAAAAAAS, especially if your pod has the Seth/Tomer/Phil player :)
I’m convinced that Richard is just trolling with some of his counter points to some of these amazing cards. I have to believe that. He wins too much on Commander Clash to actually believe some of the stuff he saying. I agree with Crim, we ALL need some of what ever ‘juice’ Richard was drinking before shooting this. lmao
He wins on commander clash because the environment is tailored to spectacle for the viewers. So a passive sit back and wrath and swing in game plan can often work. If players were more willing to engage in less convoluted of combos, or in staxy denial then such play patterns wouldn’t be rewarded. But they’re not as engaging for viewers.
I feel like he only wins bc he’s the only one actually trying to win and he politics everyone into doing it by openly not running interaction so they are almost forced to have it
I mean i don’t think it’s that hot a take for casual commander which this podcast is about. It’s not a card you should put in every black deck. I took it out of both my Tergrid and Muldrotha decks because very often the damage and the body were just not impactful, and one of those decks plays wheels. Its impact is severely hampered by the lack of consistency in casual commander compared to modern and cedh for example, where it is one of the best cards of all time.
@@holstenmason I guess if nobody in your playgroup draws cards it’s bad, but out of the 3 groups I play with the most, bowmasters is an all star and only one of them is cEDH
I think Raise the Palisade is nuts, you play it, one shot 1-2 players, and then the remaining players are stuck catching up. In blue you have ways to protect your board until you untap and go again.
Skyshroud claim is still better than open the way. Mana ramp that gets you untapped is way better later in the game off curve. You don’t have to lose your whole turn to still get ahead on mana
Depends on your curve. On low cmc's, or if you value spot interaction highly, untapped lands matter. Tomer and Crim's play pattern would fit well in that category. If you play high cmc's like Phil, you can just ramp the first 3-5 turns, with minimal interaction with the board, then you need a turn where you have 8-10 available mana so that you can drop your bombs (blatant thievery) or have a double spell turn. A good indicator when play testing is if I have a shock land in hand, how many times have I paid 2 life to play it untapped on the first 3 turns.
@@justintolentino9222 Even with decks with higher mana curves I still like skyshroud claim. My point is that on curve, they are still about equivalent if you pay 4 mana for each. But if you draw Skyshroud Claim later in the game, its much more likely that you will be able to play it and another spell on the same turn rather than taking a whole turn off. And if you do take a whole turn off to play Open the way for 4, its more likely that other players might see that you just got so many more lands and thus want to punish you for it when you just took a turn off.
Richard engagement farming with his bad takes. Of course! Good cards are actually bad because they make you the archenemy! The best cards are actually the bad ones!
I belive the main reason open the way is not played more (outside of maybe not being understood correctly) is that it is not definitive fixing. For all you know in a 3 colored deck you might hit 2 basic forests when you cast it for 4 and keep being colorscrewd.
100% agree with Seth on Elesh Norn Mother. It usually stops 2 decks at the table from doing much of anything. (His panharmonicon style decks, landfall, blink, it takes out a lot of cards in my aristocrats decks, some peoples life grain decks need soul sisters etc),.. So it ends up getting teamed up on. I feel like the percentage of games the Elesh Norn Mother decks end up in 4th or 1st is high, and the amount of times its 2nd or 3rd has got to be low. It either wins or gets hated out fast.
Richard's opinions are quite valid for his format. Remember that these guys dont actually play commander, they play commander clash content farm. All of them have really dumb rules that dont help u win but they find funny. Tomer: thinks 10 buck is expensive, wont play a card if it takes more than 10 seconds to resolve Seth: wont pay for rhystic on principle, running 20 tapped lands for fear of flooding Crim:has a whole color he wont play, would rather lock the board than with the game. Plus ALL of the value making a meme over winning the game. in the format, basically any take is correct.
18:10 roaming throne with miirym just escalates... roaming throne enters as dragon. miirym triggers, the roaming throne lets miirym trigger an additional one, therefore you end with: miirym, 1 roaming throne, 2 roaming throne token... waiting for the next dragen to be cast. or whichever trigger comes next.
And as if that wasn't enough already: Ward is a triggered ability as well, so for each Throne on the board, Miirym's Ward will trigger an additional time & if there's more than one of the chairs, their Wards will "bounce" up off each other.
Gets even more insane when you realize what else it doubles. Klauth, Ventmaw, Terror of the Peaks, Gnawbone, all of the Baldur’s Gate mythic dragons, the death triggers for the Kamigawa dragons, etc. Throne is good in a lot of decks, but ridiculous in Miirym.
i was today years old when i realized that the showcase Etali has 2 red leaves on the face, and 1 of each red and green on the reverse for color representation. Thank you as always for the content and entertainment 😀
I think, as time passes, we will recognize that Roaming Throne is the best commander card of the year, and it’s going to be hard to dethrone it as best commander card of the decade
@@holstenmason Wouldn't go this far, but it's very, very good. As time goes on and it wreaks havoc it will quickly go from mostly ignored to painting a big target on yourself.
Nah... It's a "doubler" and from my experience, doublers are win-more cards. It can put you ahead but doesnt really close out the game. If you want to just double the effect of your commander, why not just add a card that has a similar effect as your commander?
Tomers take on Craterhoof vs Moonshaker is understandable but missing some of the benefits of White, being able to easily blink Moonshaker with cards like Ephemerate is brutal.
I get your idea but how often do you even need to blink a finisher? Normally it should set you up for the win or get you verry close at least. That is of course unless you play in the fog meta :D
Richard's card evaluations make a lot more sense once you realize he lives in fear of ever becoming archenemy because his decks are weak cards that grow strong with synergy and thus aren't able to handle being in that position I think the frustration comes from the way he doesn't recognize (at least on camera) that he's in a unique position there
I like richards argument against the mass bounce spell in this video way more than the last time it was brought up. Without an already established win, this card is a big tempo play that makes everyone upset at you, and most likely results in you getting hated out of the game if you don't win in that turn. Cyclonic rift I think is actually much better than raise the palisade because of the instant speed. Cyc rift at the end step before your turn and untapping is way different than spending 5 mana on your turn, and is more likely to win you the game.
Great list! Guys, just jam Roaming throne in all of your decks and you'll see the power of the card. In my opinion, it's the best card printed in the last year and a strong candidate for the last decade. Every single commander that has a triggered ability goes ballistic with it, it's colorless, AND has inate protection.
With raise the pallisade theres no shot the enemies gett to eatablish their WHOLE board next turn. Maybe half of it but this easily sets you 3+ turns ahead. Richard acting like the next turn they are going to redeploy their whole field is insane . Unless this is like turn 15+

@@donb7519The reason it only took with half the community is tribal meant two things before, which there are now two different words for. Kindred is just the old card type tribal. So to be "technically correct" you use typal, but to not have to use the word typal you use kindred.
I have swapped out my worst 2-mana rock, in all my 3 and 4 color decks, with Lorien Revealed and have not been disappointed. Gets me a good multi-land early(which replaces the mana rock, to me) and late game i dont draw a Talisman.
One ring burden should've given you an emblem effect. It's broken because you can reset the damage. It would've even made more sense lore-wise. Think about how Bilbo and Frodo were still suffering from the ring's withdrawal symptoms when the ring was gone. If it was an emblem, it wouldn't be an auto include in every single deck. You would probably need to get some kind of lifegain to offset the damage if you wished to use the ring more than once.
Every single time draw hate comes up on any commander account anywhere people bring up wheels and I have to ask when was the last time you guys saw draw hate wheel on Commander Clash? If you look at EDHREC these are in specific kinds of decks that are typically self-regulated. Your average player does not see them. It would be like complaining every edict powers up tergrid, and it seems like an excuse for greedy players to complain about counterplay.
I get that it’s modal so can be used at different mana points, but taking your whole 6 mana turn to ramp 4 lands can be pretty detrimental tempo-wise, and that’s if it’s on curve. I feel I’d rather play Traverse the Outlands in a dedicated stompy creature deck that will take advantage of all that mana too.
@@Jhit123 it’s simply not true though. There isn’t actual data backing that up and not to mention there are plenty of cards that ramp just as much that don’t have this exaggerated win rate
@@Jhit123 I understand it but it’s fundamentally wrong. Even using more anecdotal evidence, there is a reason that every person who has been playing EDH has a pubstomp horror story and it’s not bc someone played a mana crypt and someone ELSE “flew under the radar and won”. Powerful cards help you win the game, but people can still misplay. This is exactly why I agree with his assessment of the One Ring. People play it without a gameplan in mind and lose bc of that.
The one ring is very good and I agree is the best card or the year. It can go in every deck as a card draw option. I disagree with Richard that it is a mistake to play on turn four.
For sure. At first I thought that it should always be played on curve like you but then I thought about it and realized it is heavily dependent on the current meta/pod. Basically the higher power you go, the earlier you want to play it bc you don’t have to worry about damage as much and drawing cards is better for combo/ high synergy decks. In lower power the one ring isn’t as good bc you won’t be actually using the cards by double spelling and it’s more likely that your opponents will all have creatures they can swing into you
Hoof is just too tutorable which is what sets it above Moonshaker. Otherwise I agree that flying for my board as opposed to trample would regularly close more games. I have one of these in my God-Eternal Oketra deck. Sending a mass of like 20/20 flying vigi zomboys is great.
I think the thing is, craterhoof is in green which just has a lot of incidental ramps, making it much much easier to cast than Moonshaker. In white 8 mana is really steep and you have to go out of your way to ramp into it, which often means you have to invest mana that you could otherwise have spent building your board.
@@1ryb360 Casting it isn't all that hard in white (especially white artifacts) though obviously green will have an easier time, but more importantly it's a lot easier to reanimate in white. That's why it's great in my Oketra. A solid chunk of the creature base in said 40+ creature deck fetch lands/accelerate my mana/draw cards because my commander guarantees every creature I cast comes stapled with several mana worth of value in the form of a body on the field, and I run a solid chunk of recursion since half my strategy relies on my commander (who is already hard to get rid off with the tuck 3 trigger). Both are easy S-tier finishers. In their respective colors they're obviously better than the other, but I can Natural Order a hoof, I can't NO a Moonshaker and that just bumps hoof up to S+. In my G/W Yasharn landfall though I can tutor up both extremely easy so they're both in there lol. Edit: I should note when I say "in their respective colors obviously better than the other" what I mean is the differentiating effect (trample vs. flying) are more relevant to their respective colors. Hoof will often win with only a handful of big fatties out that just needed the trample, the buff is a bonus. In white though the amount of big creatures you're running is slim so going over the top instead of through the toughness is more beneficial.
Is that while flying will close more games, in the games trample fails at, you're at least in an advantageous position. If you're forced to use Moonshaker against fliers you can end up with literally nothing.
As a graveyard player, it always fills me with joy to see the blink players complain that MoM is too oppressive because she prevents you from playing Magic
I think Etali is like Atraxa, where it’s not unfair, but do not show up for casual Commander with it unless you know your opponents are playing 9-10 power level decks.
9-10 is Cedh, if someone is fairly casting Etali that's not Cedh. It's a Gruul wincon, like Craterhoof or Insurrection. Strong but fine. 7-8 if you subscribe to power levels.
@@abstractsymmetricity I don’t think you can even apply a comparative score for CEDH to EDH. The worst CEDH deck is better than the best EDH deck. That is debatable of course as everyone has different opinions of what the difference really is but IMO the first rule is that fast mana (basically all the mana rocks that net more mana than they cost such as Mox Diamond, Mana Crypt, Mana Vault, Jewelled Lotus etc.) aside from Sol Ring has no place in EDH.
In Richard's defense the big difference between the one ring and a fog is that the one ring fogs three turns, does way more than combat damage, and at minimum replaces itself. Like the reason why Teferi's Protection isn't called a fog is because it also lasts three turns
@@MakeVarahHappen The reason Teferi’s pro is good is because it protects all your permanents my guy, not because it lasts slightly longer than the average fog

So for me the card that was the most fun to play is definitely Agatha soul cauldron 😊 Breach the multiverse and etali both have the I am cheating vibe. At least breach when I played it 🤔
Open the Way is totally busted. The fact that this card costs almost nothing to buy blows my mind. One of those cards that seems to keep going under the radar. It kind of reminds me of Shigeki, Jukai Visionary. Another one of those cards that almost no one plays, is dirt cheap and will just run away with games.
Everybody lives is the only card remotely comparable to teferi's pro (due to stopping ppl from losing), except teferi's pro works for a whole turn cycle, and everybody lives only works for a turn. Though everybody lives is the only card that can keep alive an "ally". I wonder if ppl use it like "ill save you, but you need to do this for me."
Miirym loves this card... was about to cast a turn 5 (boston mulligan is broken lol) ancient copper dragon woth miirym and 2 roaming throne...void winnower is wrong lol
I feel like ppl often misunderstand Richard's arguments. Richard's point about One Ring is that it doesn't have over 50% winrate in their own games, it makes you a target and does not guarantee digging an out. The way to counterargument that is to say without One Ring odds of winning the game would've been even lower and One Ring accelerated the deck allowing it to have a winning chance in the first place. When someone brings you stats you can't just dismiss them and call them crazy, instead you question if the stats actually tell the real story.
I don’t think Roaming Throne is an autoinclude in any deck with a commander with a triggered ability. If it were, then Spark Double and Sakashima of a Thousand Faces would be autoincludes too. There’s plenty of great 4 drops that function without another creature on the battlefield
The difference there is that those clone cards require the commander on the field before they are cast. If the commander gets killed before you clone it, the clone sits in your hand. Roaming Throne can be cast before your commander comes out. If you have a 5 cost commander, you can cast the Throne on turn 4, and your commander on turn 5.
@@k9commander I don’t think that’s important enough for it to make it an autoinclude in decks. I think there add enough good 4-drops that function without another creature on the battlefield. For example, I have an Octavia deck. Duplicating her triggered ability would be nice, but there’s other
@@ComstarAgent I want to start off by saying that I don't consider any card an auto include. Not even Sol Ring. That said, Roaming Throne is a powerful card that if you wanted, could go into any deck where it greatly sinergizes with the commander. If you built the deck to be a Magecraft Spellslinger deck, then Throne may not do much and could be easily replaced. I however would built it as an Octavia deck. In that deck, casting one spell to turn 2 of my creatures into 8/8's would be worth the spot in my deck. I personally would play Throne over Gale. While Gale is 3 mana, it requires more set up for my version of the deck than Throne does. Gale does not flashback the spell for free. The value I can get from Gale is nice but I have to pay a minimum of 2 mana to make 2 8/8's whereas Throne does it for just the 1. Gale also has potential nonbo with the commander. The spells it casts from the grave are exiled. I need them in the grave to make Octavia cheaper. There is also the fact that I don't have to name my Commander's type. I could name Wizard and double the triggers of Gale, Emeritus, and the other Magecraft wizards in the deck. TLDR Throne is really powerful. Don't underestimate it.
For types that don't work great with Roaming Throne I know it was one of the first types mention but I wouldn't think Slivers work great (I never been a Sliver player so maybe I'm wrong) other then maybe the cascade one.
Lorien Revealed was the card that went in the most decks for me, so I guess that would make it card of the year for me. My hot take would be that Roaming Throne actually sucks. I have a decent number of tribal decks and it didn't make a single list, even in decks where the commander has a triggered ability. If it was a changeling, then yes, it would have made a few of my lists, but not being of the correct tribe when not on the battlfield killed this card for me.
Galadriel's Dismissal would have been more than just a "shout-out" if you had just waited to run this podcast a bit, it would be top 3 easily... I have already been traumatized by it! It can do so much it's bonkers!
I think saying orcish bowmasters punishes excessive draws is one of the biggest gaslights I've heard in my life, it punishes x/1s regardless of who draws cards. Sure it CAN do that, for the most part when player A has an OBM, if player B draws a card, OBM pings the value x/1 player C has. If you run a lot of x/1s and draw then yeah OBM can punish your extra draws, but if you run a lot of x/1s, an OBM player and someone on a draw engine can just choose to kill your board.
Hearing the crew fight Richard on Raise the Palisades made me reconsider if Richard was right about Rift being bad. Because Palisades is terrible. But then I was hit with the whiplash of "Open thr Way is better than The One Ring". They are all crazy 😂.... Although Richard was 100% on Skullwinder and Hunted Horror
Elesh Norn might be powerful. But it just isn't fun or interesting to play against. It might not need a ban. But It requires knowing your audience, and if people want to play against shut-off effects.
Roaming Throne is that good it not only helps tribal strategies and/or your commander's abilities, it also works well in decks you had absolutely no idea it would have. I only realised the other day that my Negan deck has 14 humans in it that have triggered abilities, 15 including Negan himself. Slam dunk! Im very tempted to run it in Teysa aristocrats too. Just name whatever creature u already have on board for an extra trigger, probably vampire or human.
The stasis coffin has the same protection clause as the one ring, but sees no play. It also doesn't have to be cast to get the effect. Is this so much worse than the one ring, or a missed opportunity to double up on a pwerful effect?
I hate hearing Richard talk about Cyclonic Rift effects cuz like... Y'all talk about it taking away one turn, but it can really take away 2 or 3 depending on board state. Like Seth showed this in one of their against the odds "do you pay the 1" videos, people will try aggressively to rejam the same spells again and again, and since they likely don't have the mana to fully recast their board it means they have to take 1 or 2 turns off, by which point you can probably bounce it again if you are truly rude
Totally unrelated but maybe yall can help me with something. There's a guy at the lgs that only plays slivers. Claims he only has slivers. I have no problem with this but a lot of the regulars have been giving him grief over it. To the point of playing upper tier decks or just straight up targeting him. Am I missing something? This night is supposed to be 6-8 powerlevel but a lot of the regulars play 9s to the point where I have had get all my decks to at least an 8 to keep up. I just don't get it. Is slivers that big a deal? I'd rate a perfectly tuned sliver deck at maybe a 9 but I haven't seen it as being anything but a strong aggro deck which is nice change of pace from the combo decks everyone else plays. Like I'm normally the guy that calls people out for their bs but idk which side is on the right here?
People make a distinction between mdfs and ramp, so I dont see how you can count lorien revealed as a tap land. It costs mana. I dont see most people cutting forest for llanowar elves, and the elves actually ramp you.
I’m not sure I really understand the first part of your statement, but as for it being a tapped land think of it like this: you have a land on the field, you tap it and go get an Island, you play that Island which essentially trades spots with the land already on the field, hence it being a “tapped land.” The only time you couldn’t feasibly do this is if you have no lands and only Lorien Revealed in hand, but then why would you ever not mulligan a hand like that?

Crim really knows the text of Faerie Mastermind
Crim looping the one ring is gonna be the same as Tomer playing Kiki Combo
Lorien Revealed is the MVP, just going into every blue deck until the end of time imo
@@nathand6467The white one also can fetch Mistveil Plains which has uses in boros decks but the Jund ones are petty meh.
My Richard level hot take is that I think its a bad card :(
Definitely some of the best cards ever printed. Good all the way back to legacy.
This card is absolutely amazing. 💯
Seth I think you should make a deck with all mdfc’s. Every single card except the commander…and then see how good it is on commander clash.
You can even do that. If you play a five colour clip commander lol.
For Moonshaker, white being a primary blink color is highly relevant.
Faery Mastermind is a CEDH staple. At least everyone on the LGS I play adds it after rhystic and remora as their carddraw. Crim is right. That card is GAAAAAAS, especially if your pod has the Seth/Tomer/Phil player :)
If raise the palisade is over budget, try wave goodbye if you have the counters archetype
Wave Goodbye is the MVP for my X-Spell Tyranid deck, along with All Will Be One.
Once it was pointed out Lorien Revealed is functionally a better MDFC land it’s value was obvious.
If you follow Richard's philosophy, you win more games.
I feel like he only wins bc he’s the only one actually trying to win and he politics everyone into doing it by openly not running interaction so they are almost forced to have it
We are at the point were Richard says bowmaster isn't that good and i am not even surprised about this weird hot take 😂
I think he is just trying very hard to be controversial to get more people to engage with the content.
@@avall0nNn1992People said the same thing about spot removal, fog, and secret rendezvous.
@@BobardeZanzibarokay but all of those things have some argument, but a ramp spell being better than a multi format all star
"If you play badly you'll get punished" is not argument to say that a card is itself bad.
I think Raise the Palisade is nuts, you play it, one shot 1-2 players, and then the remaining players are stuck catching up. In blue you have ways to protect your board until you untap and go again.
Richard: “any good card is bad because you become archenemy and everyone tries to kill you.”
6 mana 6/7 vanilla ogre tribal deck here I come!
@@orpheos9Why would they not be aggro against the person who just ramped 2 lands and played a six drop?
Richard engagement farming with his bad takes. Of course! Good cards are actually bad because they make you the archenemy! The best cards are actually the bad ones!
He said Etali is super strong. Is that actually a bad card?
I play Staff of Compleation in quite a lot of my decks, definitely one of my top 2023 cards
I belive the main reason open the way is not played more (outside of maybe not being understood correctly) is that it is not definitive fixing.
For all you know in a 3 colored deck you might hit 2 basic forests when you cast it for 4 and keep being colorscrewd.
Open the way for FOUR lands on turn 4 or 5 is soooo good. Not the best, but its in my top 3 ramp spells
Best thing I did with Clever Concealment, was fully convoking it, then into casting a Farewell.
Literally did the exact same thing
Lol that’s so good
100% agree with Seth on Elesh Norn Mother.
Why is Richard’s point of view just always so off? Orcish bowmaster is unreal. Has he never played with it? It does things everytime you playbot
He plays Secret Rendezvous, you’d think he’d understand.
Bc he does it for content. He’s not dumb he just wants the engagement
How did I know that Richard was going to say Open the Way? 😆😂🤣
Richard's opinions are quite valid for his format. Remember that these guys dont actually play commander, they play commander clash content farm.
All of them have really dumb rules that dont help u win but they find funny.
Tomer: thinks 10 buck is expensive, wont play a card if it takes more than 10 seconds to resolve
Seth: wont pay for rhystic on principle, running 20 tapped lands for fear of flooding
Crim:has a whole color he wont play, would rather lock the board than with the game.
Plus ALL of the value making a meme over winning the game. in the format, basically any take is correct.
I just traded a promo pack Sheoldred from Ixalan for a Nykthos shrine to Nyx , the one ring, and the enchanting tales blind obedience
I like to combine faerie mastermind and to a lesser decree bowmaster with monarch for the win-win situations they create.
18:10 roaming throne with miirym just escalates...
roaming throne enters as dragon. miirym triggers, the roaming throne lets miirym trigger an additional one, therefore you end with:
miirym, 1 roaming throne, 2 roaming throne token... waiting for the next dragen to be cast. or whichever trigger comes next.
@@xEddyTheGr8x yeah, good that you mentionted it. I knew it, but it got lost between all the triggers
i was today years old when i realized that the showcase Etali has 2 red leaves on the face, and 1 of each red and green on the reverse for color representation.
Thank you as always for the content and entertainment 😀
I think, as time passes, we will recognize that Roaming Throne is the best commander card of the year, and it’s going to be hard to dethrone it as best commander card of the decade
it is a staple level card nearly at the level of sol ring and arcane signet, its so cracked
It's very very good thank God it's not mythic
It’s good but not at that level
Changing the topic from roaming throne to lorien revealed gave me influenza
Open the way is the truth. Anytime you can do to ramp without shuffling is gold
Entering tapped is pretty lame ngl
I play Open the Way in my Magus Lucea Kane deck and it's won so many games.
Okay, this convinced me, lol. I’m gonna put it in my Tyranid deck too.
That’s actually a good reason tho. It’s honestly already a hot take to have this on the list at all
Richard's card evaluations make a lot more sense once you realize he lives in fear of ever becoming archenemy because his decks are weak cards that grow strong with synergy and thus aren't able to handle being in that position
I think the frustration comes from the way he doesn't recognize (at least on camera) that he's in a unique position there
I like richards argument against the mass bounce spell in this video way more than the last time it was brought up.
As someone who has been playing since 2010/11 I have so many commons and uncommonly tbat need to be sorted so I’m glad to have discovered this service!
Everybody lives needs to be on this list for the main purpose of protecting everyone from people who abuse wheels.
Lots of tribal support this year. 29 of my 30 decks are tribal. Elf tribe. Soldier tribe. Goblin/treasure tribe. Tribes ftw!!
Surprised no one tried commenting saying it's "typal" now lol.
@@TripsAhoyjokes on you it's kindred officially now but i think that change only took with like half the community
@@donb7519 kindred now??? Wtf lol. It's always going to be tribal.
@@donb7519The reason it only took with half the community is tribal meant two things before, which there are now two different words for. Kindred is just the old card type tribal. So to be "technically correct" you use typal, but to not have to use the word typal you use kindred.
People should know about Starlight Spectacular. Not as powerfull as Moonshaker, but also only 4 Mana and the effect stays.
That sheoldred section was super funny!
Self-regulated here maybe, because they get salty if someone wins from anything but combat. That’s why they think fogs are top tier.
Playing with Richard's philosophy wins more games of commander. He is 100% correct on Open The Way. It gets you so far ahead of the game.
Dude there is no way that you actually believe open the way is better than bowmaster or one ring
In lower power the one ring isn’t as good bc you won’t be actually using the cards by double spelling and it’s more likely that your opponents will all have creatures they can swing into you
To answer the Y2K question, i survived it. I was seven months old, possibly the most harrowing day of my life
I survived also. I was nineteen, it was Saturday....
Galadrial's dismissal can clear away blockers.
"Which commander and kindred type don't have any triggers?"
Cries in Syrix
@16:20 roaming throne only as an honorable mention when I think it is my favorite card of the year :(
Was it only an honorable mention? It got a whole section
As a graveyard player, it always fills me with joy to see the blink players complain that MoM is too oppressive because she prevents you from playing Magic
You can't loop the one ring like they are saying, you need to cast it to get protection
Yes you can you just bounce it to your hand and recast it. Or if you Phyrexian metamorph

Richard should try Lucea Kane to ultimately fall in Love with Open the Way ;)
Open the Way is totally busted. The fact that this card costs almost nothing to buy blows my mind. One of those cards that seems to keep going under the radar. It kind of reminds me of Shigeki, Jukai Visionary. Another one of those cards that almost no one plays, is dirt cheap and will just run away with games.
See double is probably my favourite, it has won me so many games this year it's ridiculous.
Lol, Richard missed all the secret lairs.
Etali will 100% win the game on the spot. I play Worldfire and other blow up everything spells. Use scroll rack effects to set up your top deck.
I still haven't seen a Moonshaker Cavalry in game yet.

@@ComstarAgent
I want to start off by saying that I don't consider any card an auto include.
TLDR
Throne is really powerful. Don't underestimate it.
Clones are blue.
For types that don't work great with Roaming Throne I know it was one of the first types mention but I wouldn't think Slivers work great (I never been a Sliver player so maybe I'm wrong) other then maybe the cascade one.

don't listen to richard... or do, but do the opposite of what he says
Galadriels dismissal can be used offensive. Target the archenemy and gank up on him.
I love to be as old as the cast and understand these jokes. I don't remember where I was during Y2K, I barely remember where I was a month ago.
Galadriel's Dismissal would have been more than just a "shout-out" if you had just waited to run this podcast a bit, it would be top 3 easily... I have already been traumatized by it! It can do so much it's bonkers!
I want to hear about the actual strength of the cards way more than the (estimated) win percentage of players who run it
I think saying orcish bowmasters punishes excessive draws is one of the biggest gaslights I've heard in my life, it punishes x/1s regardless of who draws cards.
Raise the Palisade is cracked
Just when I think Richard has completely lost his mind, he calls Open the Way as card of the year. Unfathomably based.
Roaming Throne is probably the 'best' commander card released this year. It's practically a staple in decks that run tribal decks.
It's a staple if you have a commander you want to trigger again. So like 80%.
It could be runner up, but The One Ring is just broken
The stasis coffin has the same protection clause as the one ring, but sees no play. It also doesn't have to be cast to get the effect. Is this so much worse than the one ring, or a missed opportunity to double up on a pwerful effect?
I hate hearing Richard talk about Cyclonic Rift effects cuz like... Y'all talk about it taking away one turn, but it can really take away 2 or 3 depending on board state. Like Seth showed this in one of their against the odds "do you pay the 1" videos, people will try aggressively to rejam the same spells again and again, and since they likely don't have the mana to fully recast their board it means they have to take 1 or 2 turns off, by which point you can probably bounce it again if you are truly rude
we get so much product now, that they couldn't remember when dominaria came out.
Is the mtg community STILL complaining about all the product they don’t have to buy?

My boy Richard needs to see the MTG psychiatrist. His basis is always if you will be the arch-enemy or not.

Did an upgrade for faerie deck exist?
I think the only reason elesh norn doesn't need banned is that everyone has agreed not to play it
